Today's printer inks are all vegetable dye inks so they're safe to use, eat or whatever. And yes, worms really love shredded paper which is highly recommended for all wormeries. Because it mess  with air spaces, it's ideal for worms who need to breathe even when in compost piles.

I add soggy kitchen roll into my kitchen waste bin as long as the stuff I've wiped up is OK - ie not cleaning fluid. I also leave my old phone directories and yellow pages by my compost bins, then add a few pages whenever I add more stuff to the heap. You can't recycle them, so I reckon its the best thing to do!

Any tips on how to judge if the moisture level in your compost is right?

Great advice in this thread. I've been thinking about putting my shreddies into the compost bin.

I recently split my bin up. Now have two running, one for peelings and the such like. The other for grass cuttings. Shall be using the shreddies to dry out the compost a bit.

B-C, I'm sure it's just how you typed your post, but just in case ... don't only put grass cuttings in a compost bin, they need mixing with more dry stuff or you'll end up with a slimy mess of anaerobic sludge.  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
