Family Trees
« on: October 04, 2011, 13:36 »
I am wanting to put a couple of dwarf trees on my lottie and have been looking into which trees to plant, I was hoping for an apple and pear.

I have just come accross these "Family trees" and was wondering if anyone has any experiance for these trees and are they any good and how long do they last??

By family trees, I take you mean tree with various varieties grafted on?

If so, they're fine for a few years, but eventually one will start to dominate the others and take over.  Experienced pruners can keep all varieties going at once for a while but in the end its a futile struggle. Nature will always win. Better to decide what variety you like most and stick with that.
