Nut shells???
« on: April 02, 2012, 15:41 »
Has anybody tried using cracked nut shells around their seedlings???

My wife was just about to put a bowl of them in the compost and I thought it could work in the same way as egg shells - in that the slugs won't want to crawl over them!!!

I'm just about to give it a go on some brassicas!!! :)

You'd need a good layer around each plant because the little slimers will always find the only clear bit through.

I've used eggshells in the past but never found it really worked. Tomato plants loved them, but that was about all.
