Hi,

I'm hoping someone could give me some tips on growing spinach please.  I eat the stuff by the bucket full and have just got some seeds.  Can I grow spinach in pots?  Any other helpful information would be useful thanks.

its best in open ground penny . dig a reasonable siozed  bed over ( i grow a few yards by  1 yard or so  bed and add some nice manure well rotted of course , just broadcast the seed in it , and you can cut and come agian by using perpetual spinach . for kitchen use in summer just pick the top leaves and it will produce more side sprouts ,i feed my chickens it in winter and also my family . dont cut it off below the last leaf branch

I sew spinach in rows,sucessionally so I`ve always got fresh leaves.I also grew perpetual spinach this year and sewed late summer,it`s not as flavoursome in my opinion but as Munti says it grows through winter,I have a 5ft row,unthinned,just sewed and watered,have harvested through winter as baby leaves and larger.Have just harvested 2lb for spinach lasagna and the leaves left will just carry on growing.

Thanks Muntjac and Annie.  I'll have to get some perpetual spinach, I like the idea of being able to grow through the winter.
