I was watching Horse and Country tv yesterday (no - I'm not a hooray henry (no offence Henry)) and these boots (http://eshop.horseandcountry.tv/content.asp?ProdID=1023) caught my eye.
I knew they wouldn't be cheap, but I've been after a warmer wellie than the standard green ones I wear at the moment but £68!!!!
I've tried wearing 2 or 3 pairs of socks, but once they get cold your feet don't stand a chance, and it's really difficult to stop them from slipping off your foot and ending up by your toes!
Has anyone else found anything similar for a more reasonable price (this is half of my weekly shopping bill!)

To be fair £68 isnt bad, I had some Neoprene lined Huner's for about 20yrs and really got my monies worth out of them. IF you use them a lot and they last 10+yrs then thats £7 pw...

The best place to find warm, waterproof winter boots are angling suppliers. Try Ebay as well, some serious bargains to be had in the fishing section.

I got a pair of industrial boots for £16. Thay are comfy, light and pretty waterproof. Easy to get on and off and you can wear thick socks in them without them falling down. They are made out of some sort of material so they don't need breaking in - and they have steel toe caps which is handy when using my azada!

I have a pair of these which are going cheap here..
my feet are never cold in them, easily cleaned as well lots of warm wellies just have a thick liner in them that doesn't last so long. These are brilliant
Thermal wellies (http://www.engineeringagencies.co.uk/ea/product.php/499/0/)
they are used by deep sea fishing folks, keep your feet warm down to -40

i use rimfrost riders in the winter. great muck boots, super warm and great for riding too. but they are £72 as well.
last donkeys years though.

hi either go for a proper pair of sketex angling boots with replacable liners or the ron thompson thermall boots both of the above are available from most angling supply shops the sketex that i used to wear i had for over 15 yrs and only had 2 extra sets of liners will keep feet cosy to minus 30 hope that helps

Basically, you get what you pay for SnooziSuzi. I'd suggest saving a bit each payday towards the boots you really want and they'll last you ages.
I needed warm winter boots and luckily I found mine on sale, just over 50 pounds equivalent, way more than I wanted to ever spend but they've been well worth the money, good to -40C without extra socks. 3 yrs so far and they still look good as new.

I bought a paid of Neoprene-lined Hunter Royals years ago back in the UK (can't remember how much for) and they'll last me a lifetime - mainly because I generally use my €20 workboots instead come rain or shine.
One thing I would say is that my socks never ride down in my Royals (or my €20 workboots)

I paid about 23 quid, but I went to a shop. They are fur lined, steel sole (so you can dig), steel toecap (rotovate in safety!) and they're totally waterproof. 8)

They look great, Mushy, and just the type of thing i need - but they don't appear to have ladies sizes!
Looks like I'll have to wear 5 pairs of socks!

Hi,
Last year I bought a pair of Croc wellies, they are incredibly light, bright red, (but they come in all colours), and are so warm. They also fit really large calves and are antibacterial. They can be washed out completely, left to dry, or dried with a tea towel, and worn again immediately. I absolutely love them. They were only £35.00 too.
Here is a link to them, Hope it helps

Have you tried wellie warmers?
Have seen these at garden centres.
-
Thanks Froggy, I think that'll be my next port-of-call 'cos no sense in buying new boots when wellie warmers might do :D
-
