Working help!
« on: April 08, 2012, 19:03 »
Hello all

I'm starting to worm my hens tomorrow just wanted your thoughts? I've got some flubenvet but not sure what to do, or how much, I was going to measure out 2 kg of food and add 6g which it says on instructions? But do I give them 2 kg of food everyday? And a dose everyday? Or wait until they have ate the first batch then re-fill? Confused? Any help/advice welcome

make the 2kg batch up then when they have finished that make another batch up - this stops you mixing too much up and wasting it  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

It's for 6 hens the overall feed! Am I suppose to use the whole tub of flubenvet over the seven days? Or does it matter?

Hi,

I found it a right royal pain in the bum, measuring out the wormer. So now I buy layers pellets with the wormer all ready in it. Then each hen will eat the right amount for her or him! My chickens have done very well on them and have been healthy and worm free.
I bought my layers pellets with wormer in through mail order and it is worth every penny.

I hope this helps?

Sam and hens!

Thanks for sharing the thread, i am also worming at the moment and know how to mix it and for how long etc
I noticed that there is a lot of the powder at the bottom of the feeder which means they have only ingested some of it as it doesnt stick to the pellets.
The last time i wormed i mixed a tiny amount of oil with the pellets / flube to help it stick but they turned their noses up.

I didnt realise that you could use the powder on grapes etc which is exactly what i will be doing in future (well with bananas as they all love them)
I mix the vermex granules with mashed banana and yoghurt and its gone in seconds and is so much easier. will be doing this with the flube as well now.
