Awwwwwww How lovely. I would love to let my 3 girls sit on a couple of eggs each at the same time but usually only 1 is broody.  They seem to take shots each.  :D  :D

Well today the Mums decided they didn't want to stay in the broody in the shed, so while I was cleaning out the other girls, they took the chicks for a walk around the garden... :D Click on picture to play  :)

Wonderful!! How do you get that to work?  Everything I have read says to keep mum and chicks away from each other?

mum will protect the chicks from the others but will allow those higher up in the pecking order to put the chicks in their place (mine have never hurt the chicks).
Staffies are softer than you think.

When my broodies hatched 4 babies 2 years ago, they took the babes out into the garden after a couple of days. The other girls and especially the babies dad Monty (aah my poor lovely Monty) were so very protective of them. The mums never left the little ones sides and kept them in check at all times. It was so beautiful to watch. I think that sometimes you just have to leave everything to nature.

Well I had 6 eggs and as both girls were broody, put 3 eggs under each.
Both girl were still in their own coop and took turns on sitting on each others clutch. When they hatched, one was born under Pearl(black one) and 2 under Pepper.
As both Pearl and Pepper were bought at the same time and have always run together, they are quite happy to share duties, although the chicks know who they think their mother is...one follows Pearl and the other 2 follow Pepper

 :)
