lousy woodlice!
« on: June 19, 2007, 19:28 »
I'v been blaming slugs, snails, mice and all sorts of pests for nailing my seedlings in the greenhouse - BUT - there have ben more and moe woodlice in there recently.

Just lifted a pot and literaly 30 or more of the little * running around underneath.

Two questions:

-might the woodlice be eating my plants?
-if so - what can I do to get rid of them (organically)

Thanks!

Jon

The woodlice don't initiate any damage; they simply continue after another pest has begun and left. They eat mostly rotting matter, or exposed matter which is already beginning to rot. So, slugs, snails, etc really are your pests.
As for getting rid of them, they're harmless and don't bite, so you might as well leave them as many of us do. They do a good cleanup job on any matter that falls to the ground/floor.
