Song for Aidy...
« on: March 21, 2023, 18:37 »
I've never been a big fan of punk musuc, but I've only just heard a short piece about John Lydon's sad tribute to his wife, Norah, who is gradually falling into dementia's arms. This piece is incredibly haunting, poignant and emotive, and I find it so sad and even difficult to listen to without tearing up.

My dear mum ended her life after three years of Alzheimers, and we watched her losing her mind so gradually, it was almost imperceptible at times. She didn't even know that my dad had died a year earlier, so neither of them knew the other one had gone!

Sorry Growster been in hibernation over the winter months.
Like yourself me mam also had dementia and now the mother in law also has it.
The sad thing is I know a few patients I have known for a couple of decades are now starting with it!
Lake my best mate (see photo) and I have just finished the Dementia UK Dog Walking Challenge for March, all the doggies and their hooomans have so far raised £546,258.91

Back to the song, loved Johnny Rottern in my youth but went off him as the years rolled on but will give him praise for this.

Punk isn't dead...it's underground where it belongs. If it comes to the surface it's no longer punk...it's Green Day!

Well done for helping to raise such a large sum of money, Aidy.  Dementia is a very cruel disease - it touches most of our lives.

That's a heck of an effort Aidy! Well done that man and also that gorgeous dog!

Another local chum has succumbed over the last couple of years, and we really cannot hold a conversation very well now. His wife is lovely and is dealing with it incredibly well, but all we can do is just support them both  and hope they feel better at least.

Thanks for your note about the song - I hope it stirs many more people's awareness!

I get so scared hearing about dementia.  Some days I wander around wondering what I was going to do, or leave a job and start another one.  Sometimes I cannot remember somebodys name, but it comes to me later.
A natter with a friend confirms that she is the same, but she has a very supportive family.   I don't.  Still I cannot change things - so be it.    ::)  Mrs Bouquet
