Charity collection boxes, things of the past?
« on: October 22, 2021, 13:02 »
For many years I've kept a CoE Children's Soc'y collection box for all my small change. A local person used to collect it, count the contents, advise me the amount and return the empty box. It normally made about £40 a year. The treasurer has now resigned so when it was full, I simply paid £50 to the charity and now have about a Kg of small change. Yes, I could count it all, bag it up and take it to the bank. However, I prefer the laziness of that being done for me for the benefit of a charity. Does this system still operate in these pandemic times?

Our RNLI lady is still counting from collection boxes, the local corner shop has one.  I drop all my small change in there.

They still haystack on the counter in the local charity shops but not sure if anyone provides them for home use.
