Cerinthe major purpurescens seeds
« on: August 02, 2013, 10:33 »
Hello,

After a couple of weeks on a beautiful Greek island doing not much at all (my nails have even grown!) I have come home to find some of my annual cerinthe MPs have gone to seed (amongst the weeds - dreading the allotment trip later!). It feels a little early for them to be going to seed, I will collect it anyway (they were quite expensive) but do I just store as usual or plant them straight away?
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

The heat has made a lot of stuff bolt this year. Store the seeds in a paper bag/envelope til spring  :)

Thanks Mum  :)

JackyPam - they are a flower that Sarah Raven recommends for cutting (for foliage) - here is the link to the RHS site, I'm sure it was £2.50 for 20 seeds and I've already got that from one plant  :D

And they grow really well from seed too, as well as setting loads  :D

Makes you wonder how they justify the price, doesn't it?

It really does  oh well, I can at least be comforted that I won't be buying any again! If I get too many I will put them onto 'free to a good home'....

They are indeed expert at setting seed in situ, and the price is shocking given how many seeds they produce!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
