We need more allotments to meet demand but councils are short of money and don’t want to spend on acquiring land for them. Farmers could provide the solution and help their finances by doing it.

Very interesting read  :)

I do wonder about the protection for tenants if a farmer's views or needs changed - after putting all that work in, what guarantee would they have that their hard work wouldn't all go to waste?

Since NSALG was heavily involved, I expect that was addressed although I doubt tenants would have the same rights as those on established council sites. But farming tends to be a very long term affair, often multi-generational, so inbuilt stability.
