Help!.. My Tomatoes are leaking??
« on: June 27, 2009, 16:37 »
Well... that's what it looks like anyway  :D
I opened the greenhouse this morning and for a moment I thought my greenhouse roof was leaking..  all of my Toms were covered in droplets of water, the panels in the greenhouse looked as though they were covered in condensation too... I've done a bit of google'ing and come across something called 'Transpiration'... does anyone think this may be the cause, or am I looking at something more sinister :(??

No probs my g/house was like that every morning until i decided that it must be warm enough now to leave the door open as well as the window :)

The plants breath (transpire) the same as we do and if the moisture cannot escape then it condenses on the glass/plastic and drips from the leaves  Looks kinda weird tho

Ventilation is the answer - leave the door open.

All plants transpire - it's the plant equivalent of breathing.... they lose moisture through their leaves. (leaf cells - stomata)  ;)

Get some ventilation into that house!  With humidity that high you are a sitting target for blight.
