Title: Red tomatoe leaves
Post by: bravemurphy on April 22, 2013, 20:49
I know this is from the cold but my toms got them and are still growing strong not leggy with nearly 2 sets of true leaves, being put out the greenhouse in the morning and coming in, in the night.

Is this going to cause me a problem for the future crop?

Might sound a daft question Bravemurphy but why do you put them outside at all at the moment. I keep mine as cosy as possible in the PT night and day until the temperatures stabilise.  Even I am feeling the cold when the sun goes in so they certainly would too.

I potted them on and now got over 100 tom plants  ::)

just  not got room for them in the house all day they would be without light.

the greenhouse temps in the day are fine for them but I think I have been caught out in the evening by sudden drops in temp and sudden cider moments well one at least  :)

Last year my toms simply stopped growing for about 3 weeks when they were 8" high.  They looked OK.
Then they turned a blue tinge and wilted to just the stalk left standing, but only after 3+ weeks of just sitting there.

If yours are really still growing then you might be OK.

Ok that makes sense. Especially the cider moment. My delicates have often suffered at the hands of a Chardonnay or three. :-)

A lot of people have reported that they dont recover after getting very cold.

 I hope yours are ok.

There was a frost yesterday morning, and weather is going to drop again this weekend

You could try a little feed that favour nitrogen, to see if that'll perk them up?
