Rhubarb; huge leaf, teeny stem!
« on: June 02, 2008, 11:10 »
Am i doing something wrong? Went down to pick the rhubarb yesterday as it is going great guns, but under the huge leaves the stems were only a couple of inches long. Big disappointment as we were all desperate for a crumble for tea!
It was already in the garden when we moved in a year ago in the thick of a patch of nettles, so i cleared those and transplanted and divided in the autumn. What is going on?

Nothing you are doing wrong, it will need leaving for a year as you have split it to regain it's strength and vigour, treat it to loads of manure in the autumn and next year it will pay you back  :D
