What dog food?
« on: November 11, 2014, 17:35 »
Can't decide what dog food to put the pups on, they've had pouches of pedigree chum so far and a few dry biscuits but both have rather runny bottoms, obviously to be expected but would appreciate some advice, never tried the dry stuff with our previous dog  ???

mine are on dry that I get from a company called Millies Wolfheart, they are mail order only. All their foods are grain free (and that includes rice free), chicken free, egg free as so many dogs are either intolerant or allergic to those ingredients. All the meat and fish in their dry food is human grade and steamed rather than baked to keep the goodness in. They can also be fed from weaning.
My 2 Newfies came to me with severe digestive problems and because they are big dogs they could leave a huge mess but this is the only food that hasn't upset their stomachs (and I had tried raw and sensitive foods).
If you google them and call them during the day they will happily discuss what is best for your little ones :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Sons Airedale was on fish4dogs until recently when they have changed her to raw, they say she is leaving lots less deposits & appears calmer, she was very bouncy, age 3

Our trixy was on tinned food from the start but there's so much choice now and the dry food seems so popular I don't know which way to go, might give the vets a ring tomorrow

This site might help you find the best food for your dog.
If you decide to go down the raw feeding please read up all about it and check up what vitamins and mineral your dog needs.

We are giving ours Wagg puppy and a little Gain 28 for extra boost, when they get picked up by their owner we will write down what they are eating and also give them a few days worth of the food so they got some at hand and don't change their diet unknowingly.
They will also go with a toy that they were brought up with here so its not such a massive shock being rehomed.
Can you contact where you got them from and ask them what they were feeding them on?

Personally I do find that dry food makes it easier to clean up after them and we also feed our older dogs dry too.

It does make it easier to prepare as well.

There are going to be a few sad faces around here soon.

Aaw I don't know how you can let them go  :( will give it a week or two on the wet puppy food and see how they get on, my dad is a devotee of pedigree chum, you'd think he had shares with them  :nowink:

Oh wow they are beautiful, no wonder you'll be sorry to see them go  :( but I'm sure a good night's sleep will make you feel much better  :D we're lucky in the fact that my parents will have our two for a couple of nights in the week as I work mon-thurs, so we get 2 nights off to recharge our batteries and they love having them  :D

We are keeping 1 that was the whole point of it all because our girl is so lovely we just wanted a pup off her.

I am sure in the future we will want a pup off her pup too, we would love to keep her in the family forever  :)
