I only planted them less than 48 hours ago, but already i see tiny little green shoots appearing!!! :D
I've done them in an old water butt, and i planted them on sunday afternoon, and thought the weather yesterday might have finished them off before they'd had a chance!
I'm so pleased! :D

Good for you, I sowed some carotts myself in a tub, but nothing showing yet.
-
LOL.. if you insist   Although, to be fair, there's not much to see.. just a few little green spots on the surface

Do you believe me now? hehehe

Nice weeds there. 8) I get me coat.
Seriously though, hard to be certain from the picture, but even radish takes longer than 48 hours. I don't know where you are but my garden is definitely cold yet for them to germinate.
-
 don't say that!!!
you might be right.. i just thought it must be carrots, cos they're coming up in patterns (circles) the same as i sowed them...
please, don't tell me i have weeds already
i'm in kent, by the way

Lovely broccoli them, very safely. 8)
Look I'm not saying it can't happen, but at this time of year outside, sooo unlikely.
Whereabouts are you Beki?
-
i'm in kent, by the way
yeah... the broccoli are indoors in a propagator on my chest of drawers under the window.. the carrots are outside in a water butt and have weathered 2 storms in 3 days and i only planted them 3 days ago
 poor things.. if they HAVE started to poke their heads up, they're probably on the way back down now!!!
-
I'm sorry, I missed you said that already.
Take a photo of them in a weeks time if you can. It might be much warmer in Kent, but that will be still a record. :)
-
might be my eyes or a trick of the light but they don't look like carrots to me. leaf shape doesn't look right. are you sure you didn't get your seeds mixed up?
-
I'm sure. I got them straight out of the pack. I opened the pack as i was sowing them.
First pic is carrots (i can't see a leaf yet? :? ) and the second is broccoli
-
Carrot, as dd suggests has differently shaped leaves, first two seed leaves are longish and thin, these haven't opened yet, but are roundish, hence I said 'weed'. It is a bit likely that some weed seeds in the compost germinated in the Sunday sunshine.
-
my carrots have germinated outside (sewn 2+ weeks ago) and Im in northern ireland. They were in a raised bed with a layer of fleece - no sign of parsnips yet though of course....
2 days seems super quick. could the seeds have been damp in the packet and already 'softned up'? or were they foil packed
-
I think you're right - they're probably weeds or something, as they haven't changed shape at all yet.. they're just teeny green blobs  it's probably algae or something

My carrots planted 02/03 under a cloche have failed to show yet, just sown some more today.
