Hi all
       Dug up some of my main crop potatoes up today, Desiree massive size potatoes but some of them
       have got sort of flaky skins i peeled one and the potato was ok . Is this a problem if i want to store
       them?

Without seeing a photo this is probably common scab common scab. If it is, it does not penetrate into the potato and should not affect storing.

Mine are like that.  Makes looking for slug holes hard, but I just scrub them well.  Make good baking potatoes as long as you look at the skin carefully.  Baked one once that I had not checked carefully enough,  lets just say "ewww".

Thanks for the replies.
 As they are main crop i will just peal them when cooking, not all the potatoes are affected about 1in5
 i would think. They were grown on new ground which was grass so perhaps that had something to do
 with it.
