HI All,
« on: May 06, 2019, 13:39 »
Hi Folks,
New here, I'm going to see an allotment Thursday to see if I want to take it on. I put my name on the waiting list about this time last year, so haven't had to really wait long. Absolutely no idea what I'm doing or what it looks like at the minute, I'm imagining an overgrown mess.
Feel free to throw any suggestions, tips or advise my way.

Welcome to a great forum.
Mostly very friendly so just ask away for advice/help/information.
Where in Nottinghamshire are you? I used to live in Long Eaton, between Nottingham and Derby.

Hi there NCB, and welcome to the Forum.

I hope you new plot is not too daunting when you first see it... most if us started off with a bit of a mess, but you can soon get things under control. John has put some really helpful bits about tackling new plots in "Articles  Advice" in the green ribbon at he top of the page, which will give you something else to read before Thursday arrives!!!

Do let us know what it is like.

Welcome to the forum. Hope your allotment is not too much of a mess. Still you never know there may be some rare old plant varieties hiding among the greenery.  :)

Hello again,
I've been this morning, it looks O.K. It's not overly big, in fact the size is perfect for me and my son to work on. It's a little overgrown but not massively, so hopefully by next week I'll be able to plant something, I don't know what though.
There's a greenhouse sort of thing on it, a greenhouse but not made of glass, it a think plastic, Is it still called a greenhouse? Also there is a composter.
I get the key tomorrow so I can get to work over the weekend, I'll take some photos and add then at some point.
Thanks folks

Sounds like a nice plot  :)

Trowel is a good place for a gardener to live, you'll need one of those.
