blooming weeds are sticking their little heads up, you just know they watch you walk to the shed to see what your weapon for the day is, am almost sure they pull themselves back into the dirt while am there in the hope that  miss them, and go away :)

For me it's bl**dy buttercups!

We've had some pretty damp weather up here lately and I haven't been able to do my usual parade ground inspection but today I noticed the horrid things were not just popping their heads up but spreading their nasty, creepy roots around.

Ah well, where would we be without an enemy to be constantly on our guard against?

Is it strange that i am actually liking the extra life on the plot, ofcourse it wont last long.  Ive had a crop of cleavers for the dogs off mine at the weekend and im eyeing up baby nettles for soup - its revenge!

My newly dug area - not been dug for 3 years as I only took over the plot last year is now a carpet of tiny germinated weed seeds. Luckily I still have to rake it level which will mess up most of them. I then plan on covering it for a month of so before planting onions thru weed fabric.

walking along yesterday my wife said "how come next door's grass is greener than ours and longer in places.
I did point out that their green was moss and their long bits were dandelions whereas our lawn is grass, whole grass and nothing but grass (well mostly). Never short of the last word she said "shame really cos theirs does look much better"

When I saw this thread I thought you meant nice to see everyone coming back to the forum after the winter break!

But as for weeds, hairy bittercress here too

I don't remember having any hairy bittercress in my garden until about 5 years ago (think it's probably been distributed round the country in bought-in potted plants.)  :(

At least it's quite easy to pull out even though it does seed like crazy (have you ever seen the seed heads explode when ripe? Spectacular for such a small plant!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
