Title: Tour de France
Post by: mrs bouquet on July 28, 2019, 14:40
For many decades I have watched this event on TV.   I have such admiration for the cyclists and their strength, skill and strategies.   I feel for them when they are going up and fear for them when going down.
The spectators on the roadsides, and the team cars and cameras etc etc.
HOWEVER, I have a problem.   I don't understand the rules, who is in the lead, how and why, what is the Pelaton all about ?
Can somebody with knowledge of how it all works, please tell me.  :D  Mrs Bouquet

Yellow shirt is the one with the least time
white shirt is the youngest with the best time
white with red dots is the fastest on the top of the mountains
green is the fastest sprinter
Tete de la course is/are the front people on a stage
then pursue if small group
peleton is the main group

Thanks for clarifying that.   Did you happen to see it on Friday.  It was abandoned, because there was a huge snow/hailstorm.    The snow ploughs were out pushing it all away.    But it was quite funny because the cars were telling the competitors to stop, and the riders at the top and other side of the mountain didn't know why.  It was all clear when they finally reached the bottom, but by then they had all been wrapped up in warm clothing and blankets and put in their cars.  It was total chaos.  ::)  Mrs Bouquet
