Do you want unusual or tasty good ones? ;)

Highland Burgundy red for your first, for example. Now, that I did not like them does not mean much. Dry and sweet, more like chestnuts, might be good for roasting, actually.

My tribe refused to eat them & yield was poor when I tried. them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Noon ate them here either. I rarely roast though.

Ah, crop was like 30-50 under each. Coin sized. Almost.

I'm hoping that by growing lots of different varieties I'll stumble upon the fantastic tasting, slightly waxy new potato I remember eating as a kid....and discover a whole new batch of potatoes in the process  :tongue2:

Waxy potatoes... vs roasting... Generally spuds that are considered good for roasting have a higher dry matter (floury) because they go nice n crumbly on the outside which makes for a nice thick crunchy outside... Waxy potatoes just won't do that. (unless you prefer less crunch to your roastie?)

A good happy medium would be the Desiree... it scores a nice middling 5 on the waxy/floury barometer and is extremely versatile... lovely flavour too. Not unusual, but certainly a good 'un!
It's a maincrop.
Home Guard would be a nice new potato, a lot of people associate them with that "new potato taste from when i was a kid", but they've got enough dry matter to roast

You didn't mention that they cook red, not like Desiree.

My lot couldn't stomach pink mashed spuds.

They've got similar looking texture too
Yup, Desiree are red on the outside, normal on the inside... and there's the benefit of being able to try them from the shops first to make sure you like them (though homegrown will be nicer)

My lot couldn't stomach pink mashed spuds.

Pink was met with a "No way!!" here ... and as mash doesn't come high on their list of nice carbs I don't think I'll be adding those to my list :)

So more tasty than unusual....new and roastie types...and thank you for the idea of using my old reusable carriers - have a stack in the kitchen that I always forget to take with me to the shops

I still think that bowl of pink mash looks like raw mince.

Lady Christl, have I mentioned them before? The best flavoured potato I have ever tasted, good salad potato, makes good chips, makes good roasties, makes good mash....

Yes it does.

Yes you have, but always worthy of another mention.

Lady Christl.

There's another one.
