so the plot is cleared and ready for next year(my first year)
my wife said i can grow what i wont aslong as she can have some strawberrys. so my question is when to buy strawberry plants and do they fruit in there first year, or i sow some seeds indoors now but would they fruit in the summer?

Strawberry plants are usually available in the spring, but some shops in the UK seem to have them on sale now so do look around and ask your local shops when they do carry them so you're ready to buy and plant asap. If you find some to overwinter, you'll have a crop in early summer, but if you can't find plants until spring the main crop will come the following year.
As for seeds, it's difficult to keep the plants going through winter if your greenhouse isn't heated so most people start them in Feb or so.

You will get some fruit, but not a large crop. Some advocate not letting them fruit so that all the energy goes into the plant to give a better crop the following year.

T&M start to send them out November.  I was under the impression that strawberries need frost to help produce flowers.  I would take a look at Ken Muir's website.

ive been thinking about growing some tomato in my celler so i could try and sow some strawberry seeds and grow them under lights aswell might make a good project
can i pollunate the same as toms with a small brush?
