Bought a Black and Decker strimmer model GL650 just over 12months ago. Last time I used it a couple of weeks ago I got some ornamental grass caught up in it which has got under the cover spool and I can`t remove to get at the grass which is caught there.
Took it into Inverness to the nearest repair centre (68miles away) to discover they no longer deal with Black and Deckers so it`s back home sitting in the shed!
Fed up so looking at purchasing a replacement.
Now my question is "What electric strimmer can be recommended for an arthritic young 71 year old?"
Thanks

Hi, Jaycee,
I'm wondering if it's to do with your arthritus that you can't clean the machine or something else is also wrong with it. I'm not an expert, but my heart goes out for you.
You just stick it out until someone who knows what they are talking about comes along. I'm sure they will. :D

if you can put the machine in a vice and hold it tight enough with a cloth wrapped around it .dont over tighten .. then use some gloves to twist the end off. or ask a young nieghbour to help with the grip

Just an idea but stick th end in a plastic bag and tape it to the shaft. The grass will rot, next time you use it, the grass will fall off. Job done.

Well now going to take up all your advice. Phoned around re repair and the only option is to post out and then return postage + repair. Apparantly the actual housing cannot be removed unless by special tools.......As it won`t work won`t lose anything by trying that vice. If I don`t succeed can you recommend another strimmer?.
