I went yesterday to a matinee at the Chichester Festival Theatre. It was called "Tarantara" and was a celebration of the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. The theatre was full, so there are still a lot of G & S fans out there. The M.C. was Alistair McGowan, who is a Baritone. He had re-written the words of "Let the punishment fit the Crime" so it was light hearted and topical. Another song, when one of two maids may become a queen, he added, and if she doesn't like it, she can go to Canada or somewhere.
All of the eight singers were professionals the musical director/conductor and the orchestra are from BBC Radio 3.
It was an excellent afternoon and made such a change to getting the bus to the "big city" ! which is now nearly all closed down anyway.
Hope you all did something nice, regards Mrs Bouquet
