We've looked at a fruit press to do the cider & grapes...but the cost is  so this weekend I'm going to have a go at building a press and use a car jack....that may be a new topic..

Capt, I used an old (bought at a car boot sale) hand vice.  A big one.  Removed the handle and screw thread.  There is an inner piece that the screw thread turns in. So
Clamp the screw thread piece into some 2 by 4.  Drill to let the handle thread pass through a hole into the screw thread piece.  Support all of this with a 2x4 frame.  Make a wooden tray, like a drawer to fit underneath.  Get a very big plastic flower pot.  Cut or make a wooden disk to fit the bottom.  Fill the pot with fruit, place the disk on top. A block of wood to protect the disk.  Screw down.  I fitted h hose to the drawer to let the juice pass through and into a food standard bucket.
It works for cider and all soft fruits.  Apples do need to be shredded first but everything else goes straigt in.
