Hi all, have just found this site and am hoping someone can help me. We have 7 chickens in our back garden that we desperately want to move to our allotment (our garden is just too small to handle all the poo!) but the council wants me to tell them how I plan to prevent acidification of the soil from the chicken manure. I know any manure needs to be well rotted before using on plants, but what do I do about their run. We will have 12 chickens in a run that is 11 feet x 22 feet. Is that enough space that I don't even have to worry about it? While I'll collect the dung from the hen house, I just don't see myself picking each dropping up from the run! Can't wait to hear your words of wisdom!

I just put down lime once a year.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
