could someone tell me; can you use too much manure as i have a unlimted supply of well rotted cow manure. cheers

They say cow manure is better than horses as it rots down quicker and the fact cows have 2 stomachs so it digests better and less weeds..

no mattter what manure you use too much is too much  use sparingly 2-3" THICK on the required bed and dig in..

well rotted manure is the best...if it is too fresh it will burn the plants...

i would love to have a good supply of manure at my needs.

Add about a barrowful for every square metre - don't add it to the beds where your roots are going, is the usual advice.

Make sure it is well rotted, ie doesn't smell like cow poo anymore. If it does leave it to rot down a bit more, get as much as you can store and keep it to add next year, would be ideal

If you are feeling VERY energetic, go for double digging.  Dig a trench, and fork over the base incorporating manure as you go.  The next trench goes on top of the manure and off you go again.   The older gardeners of a bygone age swore by (and at) it as a means  for improving the soil.      Cheers,     Tony.
