First one could be St John's Wort/Hypericum?

The second one looks bristly - possibly Rosa Rugosa?

First one - need to see it a bit later on. Second one is either Rosa rugosa or, if the stems feel furry, Stag's Horn sumach (Rhus typhinus).

Thanks, the second one is furry & does look like staghorn after looking at pictures. I don't think the first one is St. John wort but thankyou for the suggestion. The stems seem more woody but I will repost again in a few weeks

First one looks like an Acer to me,but leaves will help with identification, in case it is an Acer, prune of all those white dead looking stems as they need doing before the sap rises.

If it's not an Acer, then I am wondering about a red-stemmed dogwood especially the way the branches are drooping over like they tend to do if not pruned, the paler colour of what could be older stems, and also the leaves being in pairs on the stem. Going back to the peony picture (which I'm also sure it is) and looking at the leaves of the plants at the bottom, I wondered if they are Welsh poppies that have yellow or orange flowers or - I hope that's not ground elder.
