Bought t&m's oyster mushroom straw kit and im proud to say its starting to grow little mushrooms.
Problem is I be going on holiday and am worried about whether to get someone to watch over my mushroom kit. has anyone had any experience how long does the mushroom last when they come out? what happens when the mushroom spores? Does it affect other mushrooms? Cheers

Last year my neighbour asked me to "babysit" his B&Q mushroom kit and I was impressed with how many we managed to get in two weeks. Unfortunately it looked like we got the best out of the kit as when I gave it back he said he did not not get many more. I wondered about diluting down the kit with more compost/manure and putting it into a bigger box to see if you could get more out of it.

I might just get my mom in law to look after it.
Ive read an article that if left too long in the straw, the the mushrooms will spore..
which will make it inedible.
So might as well just get someone to look after it to be sure.
