Chard
« on: September 05, 2011, 11:54 »
Hello!

I'm currently planning my beds for next year.  I have a bed which has a lot of chard in it which has done extremely well.  I'd like to grow it again next year...

Would it be best to leave the chard insitu and allow it to come up again next year or should I resow?  I'm not sure how well it will come up again etc. so any advice on if it is worth leaving in or not welcome!  Thank you  :tongue2:

I'd leave it in over winter and you should get some early growth off it, but it won't last all season so do plan to grow some more next season.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

It will overwinter but tends to go to seed in the spring / early Summer, best to start a new batch in the Spring.

What is it that makes all the little holes in Chard leaves? They're annoying me.

Flea beetles.

My chard leaves are normally OK, but I think it's fleas beetle that makes my radish leaves look like lace...
