Well my Flymo DM refuses to start, there seems to be a bit of a spark sometimes and none at others ? When it does spark it seems to flash around the plug rather than from point to point.

Occasionally it stars and runs for a second or two then that's it.

New fuel in and petrol getting to the plug, it has been running rich last time I used it, black sooty plug which I've wire brushed clean.

I've reset the mixture screw to a starting point as per the manual.

Would a pic of behind the pull start case help ?

Any ideas please

okey kokey, i will admit that that's no help at all.
you're going to have to have a look under the flywheel to see if its got any points.
you have a wire that goes from the back of the carb (near where the throttle cable is attatched) to some place. if that some place is under the flywheel, then you have points, if it goes to the coil, then you haven't.
it looks to me that in one of your photo's there is a wire coming from under the flywheel, if i'm right you may well be in luck.

hi Richy

have you checked the ht lead for damage

I had a lead come away from the cap that cover the plug

it was a right so and so to figure out because it fits in snug but was only giving an intermittent spark as it was loose

hope you get it sorted

if not i will take it off yer hands and relieve you of the burden

cheers

Cheers Muntjac, Did'nt realise this would affect it, is the coil the upside down U shaped thing above it ? then the face will be the ends that are nearly touching the flywheel.

if all the above fails then get a 7lb sledge hammer (I would use a 14lb) and give it a slight tap on the air filter
feed the soil not the plants
organicish
