shredded paper is good for adding to compost, as is lots of thing, wouldnt dig it straight into the ground though, i use my shreddings for dogs bedding and then compost it.

Goes great in your compost heap. I also use it for putting under my strawberries to keep them off the ground.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I didn't think of using shredded paper under my strawberries but I'm going to try it this year. I seem to have way too many old newspapers to add to my compost so I now have a use for them.

Shredded paper is fine in the compost heap but not on its own make sure it gets well mixed in.  I've tried digging it in but not sure I'd reccomend that can hang around for ages.

I have used it to put in the bottom of my runner bean trenches. Helps with keeping it damp apparently.

As everyone above has said, I use for a multi tude of purposes, compost heap, taty trenches, bean trench's and if an area needs building up a little then i trench and chuck it in and backfill.
