I have not been for the last 3 years, but I'm about to get a paraffin heater for my birthday so I'm going to try it out this year.

I use a small electric fan heater in our glass greenhouse at home (2.5m x 3.5m), which is also insulated with bubble wrap at present. It has a thermostat which is not that precise but I have two max and min thermometers to guide where to set it at .. no markings on the dial.

It can also be used without the heat on in the Summer if needed.

It cost about £15 in B&Q about four years ago, and sits on an upturned flower pot on the floor at the door end but facing into the greenhouse. Works just fine for me.

Electric is easier and less messy. In our old greenhouse we used paraffin heaters which were good. But our new greenhouse has power so we tried an oil filled radiator which keeps the greenhouse lovely and warm. We can adjust the temperature easily and best of all it doesn't need filled or the wick trimmed. Plus the price of paraffin keeps going up, so far I haven't noticed a difference in the electricity bill!!

An oil filled radiator sounds a great idea!

I don't have electricity in the yard so I am down to paraffin or gas.  I tried paraffin first because I had used that in the past but the burner was not well made and it would not burn cleanly so now I use gas - much better.  It is more controllable and I have bought an automatic changeover so if a bottle runs out on a freezing night all is not lost.  The service from Rother Gas is first class.

I dont as we dont have lecky on the plot/ allowed to have lecky on the plot and when I last looked at the cost of paraffin I went all yorkshire

So I invested in a grow tent with LED grow lights and bring everything on in that that needs to be sown early however I am this winter going to conduct three experimental heater systems that are very low cost and monitor how each one works and if any are of use I will post in the new year next year.

if you have electricity you can use the old 60W incandescent bulb in a box trick, this will keep the frost off at least if you have some insulation.
