Title: Biggs and Straton engines :-(
Post by: slowef on October 18, 2007, 08:13
Oh dear we got a ride on mower as our plot takes about 2 days with a petrol one.  It has a Biggs Straton engine and they have this stupid thing, when you flood it it overflows into the oil compartment.

How stupid is that, we wasted loads of oil and petrol sorting it out.  Any ways round this or modifying the engine to stop it happening again please?

It needs a new float needle and "o" ring, might as well replace the float while you have it apart.
Or it could just have rubbish particles in the petrol, which have now found their way down into the carb ( happens a lot if it is run out of petrol at some time) Strip, clean and reassemble. cost=nothing, time taken about an hour.
