Cheap Pay as you go mobile phone
« on: May 17, 2009, 22:10 »
I bought an ASDA (Nokia 1208) mobile phone last week. Bought in store for £24.99 plus £5.00 call credit, if I had bought it online it would have been £25.00 including £10 call credit. Calls are 8p per minute and texts 4p. It is not locked so any SIM card can be used.

Bought my OH one from Asda last Christmas ( 2007, not 2008!!!) for £20, with £30 worth of calls included --- I know he is not the most prolific user but it is great to be able to contact hime even if he rarely rings others. He still has £2.74 left  ::)

Good value I reckins  :D :D

I got my other phone (Nokia on Orange PAYG) unlocked today (cost £10) and put in an ASDA SIM card in. ASDA use Vodafone which has a better signal where I live, Orange has no signal most of the time.

I tried two people who unlock phones in Cambridge and they couldn't do it, went to St Ives and the chap on the market did it in about half an hour. ASDA Top-up cards can be topped up at the Post Office.

I'll have to remember about the guy on St Ives market, the bloke on Ely market said he had to take the phone away and come back the next week, wasn't happy about that.

3 I found cheap for PAYG and this piggybacks on Orange, which is fine here in Ely, but dodo in Soham and Fordham.
