Froe's.
« on: October 28, 2022, 16:12 »
I got my first Froe today, to go with my collection of hand tools. (Toys) I have quite a selection of axes and saws for the coppice. Made my first attempt at cutting shingles and it works! I bought a new one and it comes in two pieces so its easy to carry and less likely to scare anyone. Made in the UK and its really sharp, I was not expecting it to be razor sharp. anyone else got one? Great bit of kit and makes lovely morning sticks.

My Dad used to have a couple antique hand forged ones, still quite useful.

Other useful tools if you don't have already: Draw knife, spoke shave. From the look of that nice maul (froe mallet), I suspect you have one or both of those.

Yes, I am on the lookout for a draw knife and or a spoke shave. I made the mallet in the picture but had to finish it using a folding knife, thanks.
