The last of the peas
« on: July 04, 2009, 19:48 »
My Kelvedon Wonder early crop is coming to an end and peas that are left are a bit big and hard for usual recipes. I don't sow enough to bother saving any for seed and was wondering if there was anything I could use them for, like mushy peas or something?

Does anyone have any suggestions or recipes for using them up?
My music teacher was right. If you have to make a mistake, make it good and big and loud; with a bit of luck people will think that it was always meant to be like that.

Some of mine finally made it to the pan today! What a nice change i proper enjoyed them.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

This is part of the problem, I've got peas that are too 'old' simply for scoffing or boiling.

Anyone got any suggestions? Might be compost heap for them tomorrow, I need the space for some beetroot!

Pea puree?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks for that link  :D. It recommends with homemade bagels. I make the Hairy Bikers ones and they're gorgeous!

They can dry well and store to add to winter soups (after a pre-soaking).
