Title: Recycled Plastic Raised Beds & Bench
Post by: John on June 13, 2020, 00:00
We've been busy setting up some more raised beds in the field plot and a bench seat to take a tea-break on. Unusually, these are made of recycled plastic and it's pretty darned good! Great products and good for the environment too.

They look pretty sturdy.  A good investment I reckon  :)

I must admit to finding it slightly disconcerting to set up a raised bed and think that it is pretty certain to outlast me! The wooden raised beds I built shortly after we moved here are on their last year now. Mind you, it was always in the plan to remove the beds and turnover the paths to form a decent growing plot one day.
Raised beds have their benefits but I don't think they make best use of space generally.

Those appear to be well designed.  Congratulations to BRP for a job well done.  I agree, they should last decades.

I've noticed more this year, that clay pots have dried out far too quickly, whereas brown/black plastic pots are just fine!

I can't remember who recommended them on TV some years ago, but after a few years 'in the dirt', they look the same at a distance anyway, so we'll plough on with the odd new one now and then!

Plastic raised beds could also have the benefit of retaining a bit more moisture, whereas timber sections - as you say - don't last forever, and still get wet, with a decent coat of protection or not! These look pretty good!
