I used to have a pair of hens called Polly and Peck and I know a chocolate Lab called O.B.E said  like OBE one Kanobie in Star Wars because the owners father had just received an O.B.E. I've met a Romeo and Juliet (cat and dog) and two black Labs called Black and Decker.  I once knew a girl called Crystal who married a Mr. Clear. Finally my schooldays sewing teacher was called Miss Button. Sorry it's a bit off the track but aren't names fun?! :D

We don't have wierd names, just weird reasons behind them eg 2 of our ex batts had combs that leaned to one side and OH said they were wearing them at a jaunty French angle, they then became Dawn and Jennifer (French&Saudners.. see weird!)

We also have Daisy, Pip not sure if this is a Philip or Philipa, Rusty, Dot, Sandy, Snowy, Minnie, Tiny and Wiggy (still looks like her head needs to mature)

Ducklings yet to be named

Well when I was researching breeds I read somewhere that Polands were considered the Royalty of Chickens because of their feather top.  So when I went for names I went for Queen names ... Victoria, Elizabeth and Mary (they were all crowned due to heredity and not due to marriage)

Wanting to get more think I will name them Anne, Jane, and Katherine ( Henry VIII's wifes names... poor women)

My first flock was named after characters in Coronation St ( don't ask  my hubbys choice) The second lot is named after the people on Loose Women again hubbys choice. I don't mind him deciding on the names as long as i can carry on adding to them. :) :)

First 5 were to be named after celestial bodies, Luna, Venus, Star, Galaxy and sons choice Uranus (typical14 year old toilet humour) so when the cockerels went we decided to change 2 names to Dotty and Georgie after my Mum and her sister.  Sadly all 3 were taken by the fox/badger.

Now we have, Tallulah, Tinker, Star, George and Drama Queen (Queenie) in one coop and Poppy, Pansy and the Sablepoots known as the babies at the moment in the other.

Our rabbits are Tiger, Fuifui and her sister Moimoi (named after a rugby league player) and baby Bella or Jacob (don't know the gender yet) Eils likes Twilight ::)

Then there's Merlin, Pandora, Loki and Freya the cats and Frisky the snake :D

Think every ones there

My hens are Henrietta, Charlotte, Constance, Beatrice, Eugenie and Victoria.  We have 4 White Sussex chicks that are Florence, Prudence, Josephine and Isabella.  Our cockerel (only bought on Saturday) hasn't got a definite name but likely to be Napoleon, Leopold or Albert.

Our ducks are Peter, Blaze and Lucy (named by the grandchildren) and the turkeys are Sage, Onion and Cranberry.

And finally - the dog is Roxy!

Our chooks are Gladys, Edna, Matilda, Agatha (Aggie), Beryl and Imelda.  The chicks are Delilah and Poulet Noir.

The cats are Pebbles, Henry, Monty and Evie.

So no really strange names really.  I do love funny names, either intentionally as pets are named or sometimes unfortunate names parents bestow on their children when they should really know better.

My brother used to work with a chap who's other half's maiden name was Lee.  Her first name is Norma.  Oh dear!

I have one called Barry and another called Doug.  The morale of this story is never trust kids to name animals, and yes, they do know that they're girls.

One of my moggies is called Phoebe, 'cos during the journey home with her, she kept breaking wind and making a terrible smell. I kept calling out "oh you smelly cat" then I remembered that Phoebe in Friends sang a song called Smelly Cat. No contest!

One of my friends thought that my rabbit was called cow (he was actually cal).  She was quite disappointed when she found out his real name!  I've often thought about having a dog called cat and a cat called dog just as I think it would be so confusing when calling the vets.
"Hello, could I make an appointment for my dog?"
"Certainly.  What's the dog's name?"
"Cat."
"Sorry, what's the cat's name?"
"Dog."
"I thought you said Cat."
"I did."
"And what is the cat's name?"
"Dog"
etc.

The hens are Sooty, Sweep, Tuffy and Dallas .  The babies are Thelma and Louise (Hens - not my children!!)
Dog is Pippa Willow and the cat is called Mouse Trap - lives up to her name and brings at least one home a day!
The horse is called Primrose - the most stupid name ever for a horse but that was what she came with and I always thought it was unlucky to rename a horse!!

My girls are called Grace (after mum-in law) Gladys (after grandmother) and the gobby red head is called Cilla (after guess who).  The Rabbits are Mary & Hairy Hopkins, Mouse (she looks just like 1 and baby boy/girl cos we thought she was a he til she started to build a nest.  Kinsey the pomerainian is named after a blonde female detective in a book I was reading at the time.

Due to my brains inablity to retain who is who and also once they get a name I cant sell them..... all mine are called Chookie :)

Considering there are around 60 hens and 200 quail I think this works rather well ;)

ooh, I love names threads!

Ours were all named after the girls in Mambo Number 5
So: Jessica, Monica, Erica
followed by Rita and Sandra
then Tina, Pamela and Mary.

(only have Tina, Pamela and Erica left now)

the next lot of names will come from virtues, but not Grace (because I have that reserved for a baby....)
perhaps Peace, Hope, Faith, Prudence, Charity... that kind of thing.  :D

I haven't named all of my chooks yet, but I have so far Henrietta, Peggy (only has 2 toes on  one foot due to rat problem in former life) Danni (Barbu D'anver) Honey, Did have Freda, but her name derived from freedom and as you can guess Freda gave herself so much freedom investigating that she disappeared completely. We still wonder if ol' foxy got her. I have loads more to name but the names have to fit and sort of roll offf the tongue (or I forget them, 'tis me age)
