Silkie died
« on: September 11, 2007, 00:00 »
We had 1 blue silkie hen and 1 cochin plus 2 gold silkies, all the birds got on really well together and were eating really well, when we put them into the shed the other night all seemed fine but in the morning the blue silkie was just lying in a nest box and was quite floppy anyway within half an hour she was gone, checked her over but no visible signs of anything and the other three seem fine.
Any ideas please
Mike

Chickens do sometimes just die

Birds can die quickly from red mite (causes anaemia).  But assuming that is not your problem, birds have very high blood pressure and can be suseptible to heart attack or stroke.

Awww sorry to hear that Mike, but like Munty and Aunty say, chickens do just sometimes die, for no apparent reason.  OH always tells me they can just have a heart attack and keel over, but its still sad when it happens.
