Lower leaves of tomato plants yellowing?
« on: June 15, 2014, 21:57 »
In the PT some of the toms are getting lower leaves turning yellow and a bit of black.

They are now about 6ft tall some of them.

Is this a mineral deficiency?  If so what to do?

TIA

If your toms are that high and only the lower leaves are going that way, I'd suggest it's nothing more than old age and nothing to worry about.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

just cut them off the lower leaves (prob no more than the bottom quarter) they should have done their job. by cutting them off you should give better air circulation and make it easier to water.

I take out a lot of the leaves during the growing period anyway.
Yellow leaves always come off ;)

If you're feeding them properly it will just aged leaves :) not a deficiency ;)

I'm not so sure my sudden, almost overnight, yellowing on 3 tomato plants can be explained away so easily. Quite unusual. Haven't been up to the lotty for a couple of days since discovering the problem.  Will pop up in the morning with crossed fingers, hoping it was just one of those ageing things. Outside toms are doing well.
