2 pea or not 2 pea, (That is the question)
« on: June 28, 2010, 09:13 »
Hi, (Sorry about the Subject title, i couldnt resist it) Anyway, please forgive me for this silly question. I have only just started growing anything for the first time in my life this year and was wondering if it is too late to sow peas? I have checked a couple of sow harvest guides and they sort of conflict themselves, some say june, some say July.  The packet of peas i was buying say June, but with it being the end of June is it still ok as things seem to be behind this year.

Thanks everyone :)

You will probably get away with it timewise, but just be aware that late sown peas can be prone to mildew.

One out of three late sowings have worked for me.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

As far as I am concerned, nothing ventured nothing gained.  I put in a row of peas last week (Monday I think) they were up yesterday.  I've read somewhere 'plant peas now'.  If you don't want to risk wasting expensive seed buy a packet of cooking peas from the supermarket.

Sorry David T- should clarify- was looking up dream holidays- thats what I meant by faffing, time spent on the forum is an investment in my veggies   :tongue2: !!! Picked my first punnet of raspberries this evening- sumptuous!
