You can buy an Ericasous (sp) feed or just add a   new layer of ericasous soil on top of the soil already there.

Bagged compost will only contain nutrients to last a few weeks.  I would buy a slow release ericaceous feed and mix it into the top of the pot, or a liquid feed and water it in regularly.

It is usually labelled as ericaceous. Another giveaway is that the label often has pictures of ericaceous plants on it - hydrangea, rhododendron or azalea and products have a lot of bright pink featured in the packaging

That is a good general fertiliser for most plants, but the ericaceous feed would be better in this case.

Wilco's website shows both a granular and liquid ericaceous feed at good prices if you've got a store handy ('Miracle Gro Erucaceous Concentrate 800ml' is a misspelling, but I'm sure it's actually the right stuff.  ;))
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Last year mine did not do too well even though I gave them eri. I used tap water though so perhaps that was the reason. this year I've got some liquid feed and have put more eri around them. I bough a couple of extra plants from Browns (UK) to increase crop. Fingers crossed!

Does anyone know if they are self fertile?

Does anyone know if they are self fertile?

They are, but they pollinate better if there is another variety with the same (or overlapping) flowering period nearby.
(They do need insects to pollinate them, but that's mainly just down to luck at flowering time.)

Maybe then go round with a small brush and tickle them OR do they need a partner?

I've had my 3 blueberry bushes for at least 15 years, and I've never had to manually intervene to ensure pollination (although/because they flower quite early any available bees do seem grateful for the opportunity.)

Available evidence suggests they crop better with a partner plant, but a single plant should still deliver the goods ok.
