Title: Small Flymo tiller w/Ducati engine
Post by: m0hkg on May 27, 2022, 16:24
I’ve always wanted a Ducati… Although this wasn’t what I had in mind.

Can anyone give me any information on this little Flymo tiller with a Ducati engine?

It came from my late father’s shed and I couldn’t bear to part with it in case I needed a tiller one day. Well, that day has come so i’m looking for some information to get it started.

I've never seen a Ducati engined machine so suspect it could be a rarity. Take the plug out and spin the engine over to check for a spark. If it doesn't, Google implies it has points, so they will need cleaning and re-gaping. Probably best to clean the carb out too. Unless you are very lucky, old fuel will have turned to dust in the float bowl and blocked jets etc. Then, with a spark and fresh fuel, it should fire up.

Thanks for the pointers!
Weather was a bit pants yesterday so wasn't able to get out and 'play' but looking brighter today.
Could you share where you found the information on the points? I've not had any luck getting Google to turn up something useful !

Hello is it a 2 stroke engine,it looks familiar to me the style of the engine reminds me of a JALO 2 stroke  that use to be used on rotary mowers     jezza

Regarding the engine having points, I googled it and got this, not too helpful though:-https://www.fixya.com/support/t2348276-points_replacement_flymo_rotavator
