Happy 2022 everyone!
-
Mild and damp, happy new year!
-
Mild and damp here as well, would love to get outside and have a clean up on the patio but it's so soggy out there.
-
Strangely warm, even for here. 75°F (24°C), muggy, it's been raining and stormy for 3 days, sun peeked out, but clouds are coming back in now.
-
It's still warm for the time of year, 9ºC this morning. Raining, little breeze but very dull under lead bowl sky.
-
Torrential rain last night, so bad it woke me up. Even more soggy out there now, still warm 7c and it's a bit brighter today.
-
Mild at 10C with some sunny patches, but there's a gusty wind spoiling things a bit ...
-
same here :)
-
Rain overnight again and everything is absolutely sodden, bit cooler at 6c but still warm for this time of year and looks like it might be a brighter day too. :)
-
Same here. Soaking wet, but the sky is a pale washed out blue with wispy clouds, rather than the solid grey mass we have had :)
-
Very wet here, as well, but we're still under the cloud, 9C
-
High winds gusting to 64 KPH. Debris and rain blowing around, trees and power lines are reported down from many locations in the city. Touch wood, so far our power is on.
It's a cold front coming through, we have to watch these for possible tornadoes.
The dog is scared half to death!
-
I hope all is OK SP.
It has clouded over here and got a bit windy, but chilly, grey and a bit miserable and blowy is nothing to complain about given what you are experiencing
-
 Good luck Sp !

Yes, fingers crossed for you, SubP!
Just to let you know, that my Google Chrome backdrop has a photograph of the Train Trestle near your town, chosen purely at random!
It looks very much like one of the wonders of the canals here, the Llangollen Aquaduct!

Not this one? https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/3110 (https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/3110). Featured on the band REM's album 'Murmur' cover.

Sounds foul out there S_P. Trust you hunkered down and stayed safe.
It's soggy here again with a bitter wind this morning and the temperature has dropped down to 3c. Duvet and hot chocolate day.
-
It's calm, very grey/drizzly/miserable and 9C - the forecast is for the wind to get gusty later, though.
-
It's cold - just above freezing. The sky was blue but clouds rolled in and rain/snow/hail showers now. The plan to clean the windows has been put on hold.
-
Disgusting day pouring with rain i did see 2 lovely rainbows first thing :)
-
We had a couple of drizzly showers this morning but the temperature has dropped drastically.

I know that one! At least, I'm pretty sure it's the same one, on the north side of Athens. When I was a graduate student, I biked into school nearly every day beneath that trestle. It is near where North Avenue and the Oconee River cross paths. A lot of that undergrowth has been cleared, there is a park with a foot / bike trail that parallels the river. Try looking up this latitude and longitude: 33D, 57M, 59.27S North, 83D, 22M, 19.30S West.

We were very lucky, thank you we hunkered down and listened to the wind howl, but nothing worse than that. A neighbor on the street behind us had a car destroyed by a falling tree (total loss) but thankfully they were safe indoors. Property damage is unfortunate, but it could have been much worse.
-
It's bright and sunny but cold and frosty 2C. Brrr after the last few warm days - thermals on again :D
-
About 3ºC, sunny spells, hail, drizzle but not windy. Should have stayed in bed.
-
After days of mild greyness, it's turned cold out, frost on the cars and rooftops this morning.
-
Cold and sunny, exactly as how I like my winter days to be. Been for my walk now enjoying it a cuppa.
-
cold but sunny, just come back from a lovely walk turning chilly now :)
-
The blue sky rolled in yesterday afternoon for us, but we had a cold and frosty night as a result.
Today has been clear, bright but cold day. The temperature has not been that high all day, but is plummeting now, so expecting another frosty morning tomorrow.
-
Chilly and very breezy which worsened during the morning. Didn't see anything of the sun in the sky. :(
-
Full sunshine until around 2.30 pm ,but with fresh breeze giving a chilly wind. :)
-
Sings "On a cold and frosty morning" and it really is! Dead calm and -2 with a clear sky. looks nice from inside
-
Very cold this morning, heavy frost which hasn't cleared yet. No yellow ball here and the sky has that nasty snow colour to it. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a light dusting of snow in a bit.
-
Very windy - gusting over 50 mph. Cold at 5ºC and raining. Miserable in a word.
-
Hard, heavy frost first thing that took ages to melt. Now looking grey and like it is going to rain, but slightly less bone chilling out there.
-

Don't know if your MetO forecast is the same as ours, which says that the rain could turn 'wintry' overnight? same thing for tomorrow
-
Heavy frost first thing and a bighting cold breeze all day that's now accompanied by rain.
-
Chucking it down. Really cold as well and breezy. -2 according to Sandown Hub website.
-
Cold , wet and windy . ;)
-
It's calm, light grey sky and 1C, but no frost because of overnight rain.
-
Cold but warmer than yesterday and the bitter wind has eased off. We had bits of snow/sleet yesterday but mainly just grey rain. Dry so far and I don't want to jinx it but I think we may see some sun.
-
Still chilly at 4ºC but dry. The wind is calming down, thankfully. Yesterday the cat flap was being blown open and the draft from the extractor in the kitchen was making the room cold.
-
Warmer than yesterday but still a chill wind. Sleety rain this afternoon.
-
Savage hail storm early morning, 3c high today with sleet . :)
-
Soggy - grey and it's gone very mild again.
-
It's a soggy, grey 6C out there, feeling chill first thing, so I thought I'd try out my new fleece tunic (Christmas prezzie) and now I'm toasty
-
Soggy and 6ºC here too. Just a typical Welsh summer's day :)
-
We had snow yesterday while I was at work - proper big snowflakes snow, but it was too wet and mild for it to do anything but melt into the general sogginess on every surface it hit.
Today is very grey, the rain has set in and it is miserable out there, but not that cold. Just uninviting and makes you want to stay indoors :(
-
Wet and miserable , looking back in my growing diaries it has been like this for the last two years in Jan .
Plot paths are very soggy. :)
-
Wet. It started raining about 6.30 this morning and hasn't stopped.
-
It's a soggy, grey 6C out there, feeling chill first thing, so I thought I'd try out my new fleece tunic (Christmas prezzie) and now I'm toasty
It started pouring down again about 30 mins after I posted this, and hasn't stopped since :(
-
I think it has just stopped, every where is totally sodden. It is so dark now. The lights and ch have been on all day. Don't know about paying the Bill. I shall have to go to prison, warmer, cooked meals and company of sorts.  Mrs B
-
It is absolutely sodden outside, but the rain has stopped :D
We have blue sky and sunshine, which is a very welcome change :)
-
We have blue sky and sunshine, which is a very welcome change :)
I'll second that!! Slight frost here, but it's melting quickly 6C now, so might actually wrap up warm and have a walk to the plot - just to see what's what. Planning to do anything when I get there, is perhaps a step too far, though
-
Same here, Mum!
BTW, are you getting back to normal with garden rubbish collections over there?
We have a one-off collection tomorrow, and I've filled the bin with a whole lot of ancient stuff!
-
BTW, are you getting back to normal with garden rubbish collections over there?
They have missed a few, when we've had atrocious weather, but other than that it's been ok. That may put the mockers on it, if loads end up off work 'cos of Covid
-
It has been lovely and sunny this morning, so wrapped up for a brisk walk (pavements only). It took one and a half hours, kept meeting other village people, lots of chatting and dog patting. It was lovely. But not sure I actually walked that far !!
-
Lovely day here as well after the frost went, we've just come back from our walk, the temperature is dropping now :)
-
Sunny for the first time in ages . Garden resembles a paddy field . Walked to plot this morning but got waylaid
at the trading hut chatting. There’s always next time. :)
-
We have light grey clouds, slight frost, very little breeze and 3C.
-
More mild soggy and dampness. It's grey with that snow colour to it, although none is forecast.
-

Pretty much the same here - but at 7ºC no snow in prospect. Tomorrow forecast to be sunny - hope so because we've got a reprint of Dig for Victory arriving.
-
We have light grey clouds, slight frost, very little breeze and 3C.
Same here although a bit warmer. The car was saying 5C when I was driving to work.
-
Grey and damp, didn't feel much milder. Had to go into Town on the bus. Couldn't see where the sea finished and the sky started. just all the same grey, horrid.
-
6c today , overcast with drizzle. Damp and miserable. Yet to have a frost this winter ;)
-
Soggy, damp and enough drizzle this morning to leave both the dog and I soaked and despite it being 6c, freezing after a walk.
-
Bit damp but sun is promised - which is good as I've a big book delivery arriving today.
-
Grey, misty and 7C - so there's no frost this morning.
-
BTW, are you getting back to normal with garden rubbish collections over there?
They have missed a few, when we've had atrocious weather, but other than that it's been ok. That may put the mockers on it, if loads end up off work 'cos of Covid
Lucky you, T.Wells suspended the whole lot of garden rubbish collection, and are just doing two - the second this week! That bin has an awful lot of stuff hammered down inside it!
Marden (Maidstone) weren't affected either!
-
Grey with occasional drizzle. Not inspiring :(
-
Still very soggy under foot but I don't think we had rain overnight too cold ! Heavy frost and fog this morning. The fog has lifted, it's still cold but I think we might get a little sun today too :)
-
Cold start - around 3ºC but blue skies and promises of sunshine from the Met Office bode well for the day.
-
Blue sky here and sun, but nippy. There is a decent frost still on the cars and roof tops.
-
Blue sky here and sun,
It's 4C and we were frost-free this morning. I've even opened the greenhouse as that's dripping inside ::)
-
woke up to a very frosty cold morning then it came out sunny all the frost went a tad cold but alright to work in and keep warm
the wife said as its a lovely afternoon and we have done our jobs we could go for a walk I said who's we
-
It's got colder as the day has moved on, really grey but the amount of surfers at Compton hasn't got any less from when we went past at 8.30 am to 4 pm.
-
Best day of the year so far ! . Bright and sunny all day , with a slight north east breeze. So nice we did a long walk along the top of the Mendip hills down to Cheddar gorge. :)
-
Another frosty start, but blue sky and sunshine to compensate :)
-
Damp and 4ºC here to start the day. Supposed to be sunshine coming later.. if we're lucky
-
Another frosty start, but blue sky and sunshine to compensate :)
Snap :)
-
Really cold foggy start this morning. The fog last until lunch which made it generally meh. It's lifted now and we have some very yellow sunshine which is nice.
-
Frosty first thing with a thick fog , sun quickly burned it away. Cold and sunny all day. :)
-
Beautiful sunshine and clear skies for the last couple of days but.. very cold nights.
The sunshine compensates for the chill. :)
-
Potentially a sunny day here but they promised that yesterday and it didn't happen. Still, light blue skies and dry. Calm which is good but a cool start - around 2ºC at the moment.
-
Bright and sunny, but cold 1C and very frosty, this morning. The greenhouse door is frozen shut, so can't look at the minimum, yet
Minimum was -2.3C inside, overwintering Fuchsias now have crispy leaves
-

[/!
Couple of sharp'uns here too Mums!
Not sure if I've got the GH heater working properly yet, too!
Can't be a pretty sight, me in my jim-jams at midnight, checking the thermostat! The neighbours may complain...
-
Second day running of continuous freezing fog. Narrowly avoided hitting the back of a car today that was driving slow on the bypass with no lights on...
-

 Some people
-
fist thing freezing dens fog untreated back roads very slippery on paths fog lifted towards lunchtime starting but started to get colder this afternoon
-
Beautiful sunny day, very hard frost last night :)
-
Fabulous winter's day, brilliant sun even though cold.
-
Not been bad here - bright with sunny spells. Got the big greenhouse sorted out and washed the glass. Also washed a load of seed trays etc. :D
-
Thick fog first thing, bright sun all day , top temp 2c.
-
Another frosty start here but foggy as well - meh
Maybe it will burn off, but that might a vain hope.
-
Bright and sunny, but there's a thick frost, 1C. Greenhouse doors frozen up again this morning and forecast shows 'highs' of 3C for the day.
An indoors day for me then ...
Overnight low of 2.7C
-
Cold and a heavy frost this morning but at least it was clear. The fog started to set in just after sunrise and now it's just another horrible cold, damp day. Lights are on, CH is on, 3 layers on.
-
again freezing fog very frosty not a day for being outdoors best put another log on the fire and keep warm this certainly a winters day here
-
Not bad here, about 6ºC now. Calm and dry. Bright if not sunny. Probably pour down now!
-
Fog & frost here too that’s not lifting although the thermometer in the poly tunnel was only down to 4.5 overnight the car thermometer was at 2.5 when I went out at 8 this morning.
-
Right now it's 3°C, overcast.
Tonight and tomorrow, we are forecast to have a 'wintery mix'. We could get some snow/sleet (sneet? ???), or an ice storm. My guess is that mostly it will be a cold rain. Forecasters are steadfastly not forecasting what we'll get, preferring to do that forecast after the storm.
-
Slightly warmer today , 5c first thing . Dry and bright all day. Now 3c .
-
It's grey and mizzly, this morning and just 3C.
-
It's grey and mizzly, this morning and just 3C.
Ditto!
-
Bit warmer & we’ve got some sunshine :)
-
Ice storm, and hovering around 0°C. It's supposed to be like this all day, though it could change to snow later.
EDIT: finally did snow in the afternoon, maybe 2 inches total. It used to be we would have a couple snows each winter, mostly small. It has not snowed for 4 or 5 winters. Kind of nice seeing the white stuff again!
-
Went for walk this morning the sun was out and it was pleasant. Patchy cloud now and so the sun pops in and out. It will be cold and foggy again tonight and in the morning.
-
Wet start, cheered up by 10am but still not inviting us to go outside as everything is so soggy. Not that cold though, 7 degrees I believe.
-

Got to the plot as the sun was coming up this morning , absolutely beautiful , low mist and lots of dawn chorus.
Much warmer today , 8c , overcast and light misty rain at times .
Definitely getting dark later !!. :)
-
Lovely day - sunny, blue sky calm and dry. Just above freezing now..
-
Lovely day - sunny, blue sky calm and dry. Just above freezing now..
We're the same, and have just managed to get up to 3C :D Still a thick layer of ice in the water buts though, they were still frozen from yesterday...
-
Warmer at 6c, sunny which makes such a difference and dry but everything is still very soggy. I should really start clearing the garden up i've not been out there since July other than to pick the apples
-
it started of damp then it cleared up and the sun came out even sat outside on the garden bench and had a cup of tea not a cloud in sight and I cleaned and polished the car it was nice to get outside doing something
-
Well the sun has been out all day. But I have been doing indoor jobs, apart from sweeping outside. But the washing is dry.
Thank you to those who replied to my "New Topic" problem. It is sorted now, so I shall think of some rubbish to write.  Mrs B
-
Hardest frost this winter this morning , then sun out and by midday lovely and warm in the sun. 4pmsun disappeared and temp. plummeted. Now 1c :)
-
Here it's grey, cold 1C and a hard frost.
-
The BBC weather suggested 1ºC here last night so I planned on 3 degrees below that due to our altitude but it didn't drop that far at all. Not even a frost.
Currently 5ºC, light skies, calm with little breeze and dry.
-
We've gone back to rubbish here, damp cold drizzle with mist/fog.
-
A thick fog has come down and freezing cold with it
-
Very heavy frost this morning, but the sun came out for a few hours late morning.
-
Another frost but quickly cleared by the sun . 6c all day with some cloud and a light breeze. and l came home from work almost in the light ! :)
-
No frost because of the overnight fog, so it's grey, soggy and 2C.
-
Warm 6c , soggy and drizzle. The sky is gunmetal grey so I expect we'll get some real rain shortly too.
-
Damp ground but near 7ºC, breezy and sunshine from a blue sky :)
-
a slight frost nothing to speak of a bit damp then turned out to be a nice fine day
-
Misty rain first thing , then sun came out and stayed out for rest of day . A very pleasant 9c . :)
-
No fog this morning but heavy frost and cold again. Still far too soggy to do anything productive.
-
Just over freezing to start the day, little damp but it's calm, blue and promising a nice day. Took this photo from the front of the moon above the sea. Never looks as good on camera for me as it does to my eye.
-
Lovely, John.
It's bright and cold here at 2C, as well.
-
Still cold!
-
Cool first thing , actually got colder as the day unfolded , quite chilly now . :)
-
There's only a light frost but it feels really cold out there, needless to say, Mollycat turned around when I opened the door ::) I don't blame her, although it looks lovely, all blue sky and sunshine it's fffffreezing -1C Brrrr!!
-
Cold and frosty first thing this morning (ch is playing up again :( ) It's crept up to 1c now but it's grey and miserable again. I'm going back to bed - some wake me in the spring please.
-
Not too bad. Gentle breeze, grey but dry. 5ºC at the moment.
-
Anyone else noticed it finally starting to stay lighter later. It might be grey and miserable but at least it's not pitch black out there. ::)
-
Still cold (but yes, lighter :) )
-
I've felt the coldest today than I have all week. Two degrees according to the Sandown Hub. At least it's dry.
-
White frost when l got up , -2c going to work . Bright sun warmed things up by midday , chilly again by 4pm ,
and light still when l left work ! :)
-
Frosty again this morning and only 1C, but there's hazy sunshine, which makes the garden look pretty (when it's not at this time of year!!)
-
Bit dull and grey with cloud but dry, calm and 5ºC - could be a lot worse at this time of year.
And it's nice that the days are lengthening noticeably :)
-
Damp, a mild 4c and grey again.
-
dull damp but no rain yet basically a grew day :D :D
-
6c and bright sunshine , spent most of day in the garden , so nice to get outside again and feel the sun on your back . :)
-
No frost today, 'cos it's 4C, grey and miserable ::)
-
No frost today, 'cos it's 4C, grey and miserable ::)
It's groundhog day here too - but a bit cooler at 2c.
-
Same as yesterday here - grey, calm, dry and a cool 5ºC
-
No frost today, 'cos it's 4C, grey and miserable ::)
Same again ::)
-
No frost but still very chilly and grey. We were surprised to see how many surfers were in the water at Compton today. I can't imagine that a wet-suit would keep you that warm!
-
Still chilly start to the day , 4c , didn’t get much warmer all day. BUT …..left work at 4pm and spent an hour on the plot , till it got dark …..Yippee , spring is on it’s way !! :)
-
Well, the forecast says it will be sunny today, 'til 11am - it isn't it's just the same again
4C, grey and miserable ::)
-
We're still cold, grey and depressing.
-
Cold - 2c , dark and still. The sky is the right colour for snow but the clouds are too high. It's getting a little less soggy out there though.
-
fine dull but very cold doing anything outdoors basically its enough to say its brass monkey weather :D
-
Still cold. And raw.
-
Bone cold , with a fine mist which clings to exposed skin , most unpleasant. ;)
-
Warming up a bit 5ºC - even spots of light blue in the sky. Calm and dry.
-
No frost this morning, and it's only 2C but the sky is a paler shade of grey, does that count as an improvement? :nowink:
-
Quite sunny here so far and 5C - a nice change from the cold misty gloom of the past several days. :)
-
WE saw the sun briefy this morning :)
-
Felt colder today than the last couple of days and the sky has changed colour. It's n ow a lot whiter.
-
Sun has been out today but it’s still rather nippy , no frost though. :)
-
No frost this morning, and it's only 2C but the sky is a paler shade of grey, does that count as an improvement? :nowink:
Same light grey but with 6C today - with local news saying the SE had one of the sunniest Januaries on record. Perhaps that's true for the South coast, but not here ::)
-
A damp start but they're promising sunshine later. Quite a bit warmer - it's 8ºC Little breezy but not bad.
-
Decidedly damp first thing but sun came along and by midday warm enough for shirt sleeves. Very pleasant afternoon. :)
-
A hard frost this morning but came good later on sunshine :)
-
No frost this morning and it got up to 9C in the sunny spells :)
-
Thick thick fog first thing and 3c. Sun evident from mid morning and quite pleasant 11c .
Thanking goodness not living north of the border atm , lots of weather coming.
-
Dry start but potential showers later here. Bit breezy. Very dull.
-
Here, it's a March morning, blue sky, scudding clouds and 10C.
Unless it changes suddenly - I'll actually got some gardening done :D
-
Windy of the red warning sort. Trains off, trees down, power off in some areas, damage on allotments, telephone lines down, was extremely dry before this storm scored everywhere even more so.
-
Quite windy but not dangerously so, had lovely sunshine this afternoon.
-
dry dull the wind has started to get up but not that windy yet and quite mild not cold at all
-
Blowy overnight but nothing like further north . 11c and sunny with breeze all day.
-
It's sunny and 4C, greenhouse jobs today I think :D
-
Still amazingly calm considering the storms up north. Cold has returned, only 3ºC out there but a blue sky and some sunshine makes it feel much better.
-
Just had a quiet walk in the sunshine :)
-
Cold -6°C, but with clear skies.
It's supposed to warm a great deal this aftenoon, up to 13°C or better.
-
Thick fog , took most of the morning to clear . - 1.5 c first thing , chilly all day. :)
-
The wind's really got up here but it's actually quite warm at 6ºC. Everything's battened down so fingers crossed, we'll be OK.
-
This weekend I'm tired of allotment holders reporting that there is wind damage to sheds/chicken runs/greenhouses/polytunnels on neighbouring plots. Malik was better devastation that Arwen round here. Village handyman had to come around with a chain saw to clear large tree off one of the paths outside the older people's flats in the village as getting out was impossible and the housing association wasn't sending out staff on a Sunday. (All the branches were left off the path on their grass for them to clear but anything that was log worthy went with the handyman and team as just rewards to use or sell). Looks like the tree coming down also damaged the electricity supply to the flats.
-
It a bright & sunny 6C this morning, but add in the NW wind gusting at 35mph it feels bitter out there. Definitely an indoor day, for me ::)
-
It was a bit blowy in the night but nowhere need as bad as others suffered. Cool, breezy, grey and damp this morning.
... (All the branches were left off the path on their grass for them to clear but anything that was log worthy went with the handyman and team as just rewards to use or sell)...
I must admit to mixed feelings when I see a tree down. Sadness the tree is gone but .. Free Fuel! :)
-
It was a knackered tree covered in ivy and with next to no root anyway John. Not the first in that area that has had to be cleared to let people in and out. It's the old story of planting unsuitable trees in the wrong place and then having a panic when a storm comes along and fells them. Lots of storms and unplanned felling up here. Keeps tree surgeons in business, the county council in removing obstructions and tax payers moaning. Of course we have the Kielder Forest as well. Do wish people would think in advance about tree planting.
-
Dry and bright but chilly wind, but then I do feel the cold. Some parts of the Island have had rain but we haven't seen any.
-
Wind howling like a banshee last night. Calmed down a lot this morning. Cloudy and mild , and staying lighter later every day !! :)
-
Light grey sky, wet after rain and 6C. At least the wind has dropped :)
-
Grey skies here - damp ground but not too cold at 9ºC Bit breezy but supposed to calm later today.
-
Quite windy, and a bit chilly. Dry but bright.
-
started of a bit nippy but then turned out to be lovely dry day looking more like spring could we be in for an early spring here in the midlands :D :D
-
Been for a lovely walk along the beach this afternoon 13 deg :)
-
There's an absolutely beautiful, dark orange/red sunset now, tried to take a pic but the the camera's low light correction, took all the colour out ::) so you'll just have to believe me :)
-
Lovely bright day and quite warm. The wind/breeze has dropped so really pleasant. The sea is still quite rough though.
-
We've had a couple of glorious days, sun, relatively mild and enough wind to dry the washing.
Got up this morning and it's raining.
-
Got up this morning and it's raining.
Yes, a bit of a disappointment after last yesterday's beautiful sunset ::)
-
Dull but not raining - or windy. Around 10ºC which isn't bad for the time of year.
-
Warm, I noticed the bulbs are coming up in the park but it's back to being grey. It doesn't feel such a dark, oppressive grey as it has been though - have we turned a corner
-
After a reasonable day, tonight we had about 6mm of rain in a couple of hours. You never know where you are with the weather these days.
-
This morning it's a frost-free 7C, the sky is darkening, it looks like rain coming....
-
Dry now but a cool 3ºC - little breezy.
-
Drizzle first thing, very breezy but a lot brighter this afternoon.
-
Cold and frosty this morning, but it warmed up quickly. There's a stiff breeze and drizzle in the air this afternoon.
-

Sat in the greenhouse for coffee this morning, first time this year, lovely 8)
Just after lunch it turned colder, the sky went dark and we've had occasional brief showers. It seems like from one extreme to the other ::)
-
7c this morning but wind chill took it to 3c. Sunny periods , looked lovely from inside , bitter out though.
Managed 20 minutes in the garden ,then had to come in as my nose had fallen off.
Wind got up p.m. now gusting strongly. :)
-
More or less a repeat of yesterday. Cold, grey, little damp and quite windy.
-
Windy and lots of rain overnight, more of the same today 6C. Mollycat wasn't impressed and has gone straight back to bed ::)
-
So has mine mums 'Levi' very windy here today :)
-
Breezy and showers on and off all day. Gone dark a lot earlier today as well.
-
Very cold & very windy here with heavy showers with sleet in them at times interspersed with spells of sunshine that looked invisible, but were just a trick
-
Cold, the sun is shining and it's glorious out there. Just been for a walk.
-
Sunny bright and 4C here, thankfully yesterday's strong wind has gone away. I was worrying about the big tree in a neighbour's garden which was being blown towards the railway line
Hopefully I'll make it to the allotments today :)
-
Cold and gusty with frozen ground at the allotment this morning.
-
It's grey, calm and 9C this morning, the overnight low in the greenhouse was 3C.
-
10ºC, dry, grey skies but a bit windy which makes it feel colder.
-
Warm overnight (7c) and it's currently bright and sunny  We're forecast 11c for later today too.
-
Yesterday turned out to be a damp squib, the wind picked up and it clouded over. It's still mild today but we're back to being grey and there's occasional drizzle.
-
Overnight low in the greenhouse was 8C, outside it's 10C now and bright and breezy, with sunny patches. More rain forecast for later though.
-
Lovely day here we did some jobs in the garden, then went for a walk over the downs in the sunshine :D
-
Warmer today but still breezy. Drove home through Blackgang (WestWight) and the sea mist was so thick we could hardly see.
-
Grey, damp, calm and 7C, overnight low in the greenhouse was 5C.
-
Patches of blue in the sky, bit breezy but dry. Feels cold at 3ºC
-
Looks like a nice spring day, patchy sunshine, no rain and a light breeze. I should go and working in the garden to blow the cobwebs away.
-
It's been cold all day here, me no like it
-
Heavy cold shower to start the day but it's brightened up now. Around 3ºC but very calm so not too bad.
-
Frosty start and still cold now but bright and sunny for a change after what has felt like never ending greyness.
-
A frosty start, but bright and sunny 3C. Overnight low in the greenhouse was -2C Brrr!
-
20°C and sunny today, forecast for a little warmer tomorrow.
-
Here, we have patchy cloud and blue sky, it's a breezy 6C. The overnight low in g/house was -1C
-
A cool, grey and dry start but no frost. We were forecast rain this morning but it looks like it may have been delayed.
-
Raining quite heavily, winds gusting to 50 mph and around 6ºC in sheltered bits. The cats have decided it's a duvet day :)
-
We had a day that local radio called a surreally warm, beautiful day, 22°C and sunny.
-
Grey, damp, 6C and the S wind is gusting at 35-40mph according to MetO  - another indoor day, and Mollycat agrees :nowink:
-
dull and very windy :(
-
It calmed in the night but now it's back to being a repeat of yesterday. Cat flap being held open in the gusts is worrying the cats. Is it that Tom from up the hill sneaking in to steal their food?
-
Foul. Heavy rain overnight and still raining now. Feels cold made worse by the a very cold strong wind and it's dark enough to need all the lights on again. Looking at the forecast it's going to be like it all day.
Never mind staying in side - I'm tempted to go back to bed :(
-
Cold, raining and very dull, but it is winter.
-
Wet and windy :(
-
Wet and very windy here. We did a few jobs outside yesterday afternoon, thank goodness.
-
Very wet, very windy and feels freezing. Might ease off this afternoon, but I'm not betting on it.
-
It was very windy overnight, it has calmed down a bit now, but the washing is still getting a good blow..
It's bright and sunny at 8C and it feels like March :D
-
Rain overnight, looks threatening still but nothing so far. It's damp, cool at 4c and grey but no sign of the strong winds forecast.
-
sunshine and wind not very warm out there, better than yesterday rain and more rain :)
-
Brighter and less windy than yesterday, a couple of short sharp showers. Not looking forward to the predictions for Storm Dudley in the next couple of days.
-
Still cold and damp here but at least the wind has calmed down.. for now.
-
Still grey, wet and windy, and it feels cold at 7C.
-
Still grey, wet and windy, and it feels cold at 7C.
Same here. The dampness is making it feel much colder than it is though, a 3 layer day here and my hands are still stiff.
-
I feel it in my fingers I feel it my toes wet wet wet
-
Wet and very windy. Apparently going up the coast road this morning the van developed 'wobbly wheels'. West Wight is always windier than here East Wight. Got to go to work tomorrow as I have some paperwork to do, not looking forward to it.
-
There's an amber wind warning out for today along with a heavy rain forecast. Then two days of yellow wind warnings and the mention of snow and sleet. Not gardening weather.
-
Wet and warm 9C, this morning - no sign yet of the strong wind in the forecast.....
-
Rain overnight but calm out there at the moment, mainly cloudy but patches of sun so it doesn't feel so miserable. I'm a little concerned about the winds forecast for later though. Windy is the my least favourite of weathers.
-
Bright with some sunshine at the moment, windy with strong gusts, made getting up the hill a good workout on my way back from the chickens. Had lots more rain overnight so the bottom plots have standing water again & the path around the allotments was very squelchy in places.
-
Was woken at 0630 by the sound of yet another wheelie bin scattering its contents into the environment.
According to my local weather station there was a gust of 57mph about that time, which is very unusual round these parts. Has been very mild (12C) and sunny, but I think we're about to get some rain to add to the jolly mix...
-
Grey, damp, breezy but quite warm at 10ºC - are you ready for the storm?
-
We had sunshine this morning all change this afternoon very windy grey and looks like rain coming :)
-
Bit blustery outside here now!
Light rain, and trees waving all over the place...
-
After the wind of last night and a power cut it's a lovely still morning but according to the weather forecast it won't last long.
-
Something went bang this around 04:00 and woke me up but I can't see any damage this morning  It's bright and sunny at the moment but there are still a few noticeable gusts and it feels considerably colder than the 5c it is. Not looking forward to Friday the forecast is for it to be worse.
-
Fingers crossed you don't find something later Lardy ::)
Here it was gusty overnight, but nothing too bad. Now, It's 9C, sunny, with barely a breeze. The overnight low in the g/house was 7C.
Is this the calm before the storm? I'd best walk up the hill to the post office, this morning then ::)
-
Wind howling around the house woke me at 3am and kept me awake until 7am Just managed to get to sleep so the alarm could wake me.
Dry, quite calm and 6ºC at the moment.
-
All calm here, the sun is out, the sky is blue and it is like the weather is trying to pretend yesterday never happened. We have take 2 tomorrow though, so not going to unbatten the hatches just yet ::)
-
Is this the calm before the storm? I'd best walk up the hill to the post office, this morning then ::)
Yes it was! By the time I'd reached the PO there were some really strong gusts, one nearly knocked me off my feet, coming back, but luckily I grabbed a wall ::) I don't think I'll be venturing out again for a few days, looking at the forecast......
-
Cold, sunshine, windy, raining -repeat ad infinitum
-
not to cold a tad windy sunshine a little rain as for tomorrow that mite be another kettle of fish :D
-
Fingers crossed you don't find something later Lardy ::)
I don't have to find problems MoS - they find me  :nowink:
-
It's got that bad weather coming feeling out there now. Wind isn't too bad but I think there's some hail in the rain. Should start to get interesting in a couple of hours time. Everything is in 'storm mode' so fingers crossed.
Good luck everyone!
-
Quiet overnight, bit of rain but nothing horrendous. This morning it's windy but wheelie bins staying put, not as bad as it was last Tuesday but time will tell.
-
Well so far, touch wood, not too bad. Not as bad as Dudley. Or maybe I'm just sleeping better with wind noises!
Very heavy dark grey sky, damp but not raining at the moment, breezy rather than OMG! - temp around 5ºC
Greenhouses look good and nothing seems to have gone flying.
-
Heavy rain overnight, feels very cold and plenty of unpleasant gusts of wind. The odd branch down in the park but nothing major. We're forecast for a 25% increase on Wednesday's speeds, which may well make things very interesting.
Everything is in 'storm mode' so fingers crossed.
I've battened down the hatches and I'm just finishing a full backup of all the computer systems, in case the mains power decides to get a little frisky.
-
Feeling warm at 10C, but raining and already blowing a hoolie out there, wheelie bin collection was yesterday, but some people's bins are still out and blowing around at the end of the terrace. The fence on the left is getting the full force of it as there's no leaves on the trees to soften the wind force.
I just had quick dash outside to move the smaller pots into the lee of the hedge, so hopefully they can't blow onto the greenhouse glass, the bigger pots are sodden and too heavy for me to move, though
I've also clamped and wired the greenhouse doors shut, as they face the wind.
All I can do, now, is sit it out and hope for the best....
Good luck everyone and stay safe.
(Wonder if they'll cancel my Tesco's order due for delivery at 3pm - that could be interesting ::) )
-

The Horror! The Horror!
-
Not too bad in Lancashire at the moment. Very wet overnight but we are used to that. Wind meant to get worse later. My polytunnel survived Dudley (I checked on it yesterday) so hopefully will be okay!
-
Windy here in North Hampshire. A bit of rain too. All schools now closed in Hampshire Our Red Warning kicks in at 10.00 noticed a Sainsbury’s van just going past. Pretty calm so far, though one of our neighbours bins is over on its side. It’s bin collection day of course! Checked the plot yesterday will have to check again tomorrow after the wind subsides. Remembering the 1987 storm I won’t be opening my up and over garage door that cost me a new door!! Older & wiser now perhaps?? Stay safe!
-
Not too bad overnight here, lots more rain was heard but now the wind is ramping up. I’ve been to the chickens & made sure they have plenty of food & water & wont be going back this afternoon if it’s really bad. It’s forecast to hit here at noon, so I’ll stay in & nurse my cold that’s arrived ahead of the storm this morning until we are due to go & wish our grandson happy 1st Birthday this afternoon, but hubby can drive me there !
-
Pretty quiet here at the moment, although we've had quite a lot of rain since midnight.
Not quite sure what this afternoon will bring - we seem to be on the cusp of potential snow warnings to the north, and gale warnings to the south...
Stay safe wherever you are.
-
After a pleasant start it's blowing like mad even though the sun is shining. A day for staying in!
-
very windy some rain cold but some bright sunny intervals maybe the calm before the storm
-
(Wonder if they'll cancel my Tesco's order due for delivery at 3pm - that could be interesting ::) )
The Horror! The Horror!
Of course it was cancelled, as I expected
-
Only one broken fence panel so far, not too bad for us. apparently a garden wall has been blown over in our village! A fence panel isn’t too much to deal with. Mind you I think I will leave it till next week when the winds have dropped.
-
It's just gone mad here. Looks like I'm going to lose both greenhouses
Pane of glass 6ft x 2ft blown on the Vitavia as the side twisted in the wind. Even if I have a spare, can't do it in this. The door has blown off the Eden and the slider is done for so I can't do much with that until I can get spares.
-

Oh No!!!
My Vitavia is flexing, as the door end is facing the wind, so I expect mine to go unless the wind drops pdq :(
-
Fortunately Paul decided to leave Freshwater at 11.30am as all routes out of Freshwater are now blocked by fallen trees or power lines. He got through to Shanklin which is now shut. Our house is down in a dip so hasn't been too bad. One fence post began to wobble so we went out and managed to shore it up and it's now firm.

Weather LIVE just tweeted A wind gust of 122 mph at the Needles on the Isle of Wight is provisionally the highest gust ever recorded in England

-
It's just gone mad here. Looks like I'm going to lose both greenhouses
That sucks. Has the frame been mangled or just glass damage ? I heard a couple of tiles slide down the main roof earlier but as long as they're not from the same area it's not a big issue. It certainly looks like other places caught it much worse than here.
-
The Needles are so exposed and are in the direct line of fire from weather coming from the west as there is
nothing to protect them. St Catherine's lighthouse at Niton is the other place that records high winds.
-

With the Vitavia the frame has been twisted which is what caused pressure on the glass that exploded. With the Eden the door seems OK except for the sliding mechanism. There's really nothing to be done until things calm down when I can properly see what needs to be done.
At the moment I'm just ignoring it since I can't repair or do anything to prevent further damage.
I really thought we'd dodged the storm bullet until it hit around lunchtime when it suddenly went wild.
-
Sorry to hear that. Same has happened to my sister on south coast. And my mum's garden wall got blown over!!
-
My Vitavia is flexing, as the door end is facing the wind, so I expect mine to go unless the wind drops pdq
I was lucky, as the wind turned Westerly just after I posted this, and Vitavia survived!!
The Norfolk plastic greenhouse had one end completely trashed, door laying on the grass with it's panels, and the ones from either side smashed to pieces :(
Reports on our Allotment society facebook page/Twitter that some sheds & greenhouses have gone over and also trees down :(
I'm waiting for a Pharmacy delivery, so can't look at the damage 'til later - but our forecasts show more high winds this afternoon....
-
Well they're still standing but it's raining hard and breezy. Fed up does not begin to cover it.

Sounds like we're not the only ones :(
-
No damage here still have a bit of wind nothing like yesterday :)
-
Horrible, wet & cold here today. Lot calmer wind wise. Just back from the chicken run & they’re all fine as is my tunnel.
Sorry to hear about your greenhouses John & Mum. Mine (rhino) in the garden appears to be ok but I’ll go check when the rain stops. Rhino forum seems to report even in wildest places they’ve come through unscathed so maybe their advertising blurb is true!
-

I'm sure their blurb is true - but it's a how much you can afford.

Can’t agree more John, but if they get damaged in the vagaries of our weather it might work out cheaper in the long run. I had to wait a long time to get mine & it is in my garden, I certainly wouldn’t pay that amount for an allotment. Very pleased with my tunnel from First Tunnels though, how did yours stand up to the winds? Perhaps that’s the way forward on your site- another tunnel?
-
the winds dropped somewhat a few blustery showers and cold not looking a bit like spring
-
Apart from sunny spells first thing, it's been cold, grey and windy since. The wind is gusting at 35-45 mph again now :( Getting fed p with it tbh
-
Cold, wet and windy. Have a trampoline in the front garden along with an extra wheelie bin. Greenhouse lost a pane of glass overnight
Hopefully will soon be over
-
It's been raining all afternoon, now sunshine hopefully it'll blow itself inside out soon
-
The weather warning for snow was accurate, even at our sea level city! I've never seen flakes so large - routinely about 3" in diameter
It was over within a couple of hours and is just slushy now. Will be a nightmare if it freezes overnight.
-

Happily we think we'd be covered with insurance but we were thinking maybe another polytunnel instead would be sensible. Our First Tunnels poly just shakes off the worst. Today started with rain but it dried off in the afternoon so cleared the broken glass from the Vitavia and managed to replace it. Last sheet of 1507x610 so the next one will be pricey :(
Can't fix the Eden's door without parts so hopefully it can survive not having a door for a bit.
-
Very windy overnight, loud enough to wake me. Grey and overcast this morning with an unsettling stillness.
Son been without power since midday Friday, his mother in law has been supplying hot good and water.
-
Very wet and windy today. My polytunnel has survived. With the forecast we could have some flooding as the ground is saturated already.😟
-
Here it's grey, damp 7C, worst thing is the wind is still gusting at + 35mph, and forecast is for it to strengthen a bit later
Oh well, nothing I can do about it, so I'll just sow a few seeds, then sit indoors and maybe watch some planes struggling to land on BIG JET TV
-
Heavy rain for much of the night and all day - currently an inch since midnight to add to the couple of inches produced by the previous 2 storms. Still raining heavily.
There will be some serious flooding problems if it continues, as the attached pic suggests...
-
about the same as Mum's here and its not looking good for gardening next either >:(
-
Raining here too. Mind isn't February known as February fill dyke?
-
Very windy and now very wet. A real duvet day. No Hovercraft or Fast Cat services to or from the Island and warnings from Red Funnel and Wightlink their car ferries will be affected until midday tomorrow.
-
It's no better here, dark, grey and cold even though it claims to be a mild 9c . Strong gusts of wind and horizontal rain. The stream is like mud with all the run off from the fields.
-
There's more noise from outside at the moment than we had on Friday! It's really gusting and whistling round the house.
-
Here there's a patchy blue sky, 7C, but the wind is still gusting at + 35mph, so can't get out to do some repairs :(
-
Heavy rain & horrendous winds throughout the night, still gusting now with rain but intermittent sunshine. Off to check the plot shortly, hope everything is still ok
-
Wind was howling and things banging outside, cat flap going like a snare drum in the kitchen. Lay listening and wondering if the greenhouses would survive from 4am to 5am. Then made a cuppa and read until 6am when I managed to go back to sleep.
One of the cats decided it must be an invisible stranger cat at the catflap so she sang a warning song. Much commotion amongst our brave felines who came to protect me in bed.
Greenhouses appear to have survived - it's still rough out there but not as noisy.
-
We had a few sessions of wild winds last night when you could see the trees thrashing about outside, but still as anything in between. Very odd  Today is just grey and blowy with bits of rain now and then.
-
It is quite mild here although it doesn't feel it. I couldn't see out of the salt laden windows, but the w/cleaner has been this morning. I am so fed-up with the terrific noise down the chimney where the chimney liner is rattling around. Note to self: see if I can get that job done !
-
The wind has finally dropped and the trees are now only 'wobbling' rather than swaying. No rain today, thank goodness.
-
The wind picked up around 05:00 and it's been an unnerving day, things seem to have settled down now thankfully, just the flooding to worry about now then ::)
-
Another day, another deluge this morning with accompanying gale. Just got soaked walking the dog!
-
Here it's a damp, grey, mild 9C morning with just a slight breeze atm.
If it stays that way, I might be able to tidy some of the garden and unlock the greenhouse ::)
-
Another day, another deluge this morning with accompanying gale. Just got soaked walking the dog!
Exactly my experience just an hour ago
-
Calm, grey and mild 9c (although it feels colder).
-
Not too cold at 8ºC and just breezy under a light grey sky. Showery. The sea is a lot calmer - good sign.
Greenhouses still standing. Phew!
-
Still quite gusty winds at times, showers & sunshine
-
glad your greenhouses are ok John well the weather here has been not to bad a tad windy odd shower followed by bright spells a much better day than yesterday
-
Bright, breezy and a couple of short sharp showers.
-
Looks like a grey but dry day. Cool, around 6ºC but breezy. According to the Met due to gust up to 40mph
-
Cold and frosty start first thing but the sun has made an appearance  :) it's not exactly nice being out but at least it's nice to look out.
-
It's sunny, cold and frosty, but calm this morning. This afternoon's forecast is for gusts of up to 27mph.
Overnight low in the greenhouse was -1C.
-
Beautiful day after early morning frost :)
-
Turned very cold & blustery for trip 2 to the chickens, apparently we’re getting snow tomorrow
-
It turned unpleasant very quickly yesterday. This morning feels cold and 5c, there's a stiff breeze and drizzle. It's grey but at least a light grey.
-
Getting windy, cold and feels like showery rain coming. See looks rough - not a good sign.
-
It turned unpleasant very quickly yesterday. This morning feels cold and 5c, there's a stiff breeze and drizzle.
Same here :(
Had lovely sunshine by mid-morning so I went for a walk - just got home before we had a heavy, sleety, shower. Repeated twice more so far this afternoon ::)
-
3-4 inches of snow on the ground with more promised. Sun is shining at the moment but it changes quickly.
-
Frosty start, then really bright, then suddenly dark and cloudy and about 30 minutes of sleet and hail. Don't get that often here. Not very warm though.
-
It's a sunny, cold and frosty morning, it felt bitterly cold when I opened the door for Mollycat, who wisely decided not to venture out ::)
-
No frost this morning but it's cold with light blue sky and sun so far. I just couldn't get warm yesterday despite three layers and the heating being on and I'm still cold this morning.
-
It's not too bad out there - 5ºC, pretty calm, dry and SUNSHINE! :)
-
Lovely sunny day, warmed the conservatory up a treat, but bitterly cold on venturing out as I’m just about to do againto see to the chicken girls
-
Cold and frost start this morning at 2c. Bright and cloudless so it might warm up quickly.
-
Not bad, bits of blue in the sky, dry and cool at 5ºC to start the day. Too windy for comfort.
-
It's a lovely sunny morning, 8C, but already 23C in the greenhouse 8) (overnight low was 1C)
Showing a gusty wind in the forecast, but none at all yet..
-
It is about the same as Mum's. Lovely blue sky and lots of sun, but a cold blustery wind. A day for watching the rugby indoors !
-
It is about the same as Mum's. Lovely blue sky and lots of sun, but a cold blustery wind. A day for watching the rugby indoors !
The blustery wind arrived here mid-morning, so we didn't escape it for long ::)
-
quite a hard ground frost started out blue sky the turned grey but dry a tad on the cold side and windy but at least as said it was dry
-
It's lovely, this morning - to look at - bright and sunny, lovely blue sky, 7C, but it feels really cold in the gusty 'breeze' 25mph from the SE.
The overnight low in the greenhouse was 3C and it was 23C, by the time I remembered to open the door, just now ::)
-
Looks lovely out there - sun shining from a blue sky. Pretty chilly, especially when the wind gets you. And it's dry! :)
-
Same here, bright and looks lovely, until you get out there and then you notice the chilly breeze. According to the Sandown Hub it's 7 degrees.
-
quite a nice day a bit of a cold bite in the air but at least its dry makes one feel its good to be outdoors
-
Warmer this morning 7c but it's grey and there's heavy rain forecast for this afternoon.
-
It's mostly grey, this morning, 7C and looks like rain is on the way.
The overnight low in the greenhouse was 3C
-
Heavy rain all day, solid grey sky. Around 7ºC and breezy but not too b
-
Heavy rain last night & more rain this morning on waking but it did brighten for a few hours but back to rain again after lunch, grey & dismal again now
-
dull odd sprinkle of rain and windy and a bit on the cold side
-
Chilly but bright until about 4pm when it started spitting and now is proper rain.
-
It's raining
-
It's bright and a bit sunny here. 5ºC, calm :D
-
It's raining
Same :(
-
dull cold but dry is it spring yet?
-
Dry and bright until about 3pm and then the rain started and hasn't stopped yet. The wind has also picked up.
-
Dark - Check.
Grey - Check.
Rain - Check.
Soggy - Check.
Unpleasant - Check.
Much the same as normal, everything still has a November feel  . We seem to have skipped the crisp, cold and frosty but bright winter season.

After a grey, miserable, drizzly start brightened up about 11am and since then has been a lovely afternoon. Hope it stays like that as would really like to get outside this weekend.

-
Here it's 5C, totally grey, misty and miserable forecast is for the same all day :(
-
Cold this morning, the frost was just clearing when I walked Max. Someone was already up in a hot air balloon  Not exactly my idea of fun on a cold March morning, but It's clear-ish so far with just high light cloud and a gentle breeze.
-
Looks set for a lovely sunny day here if a bit chilly. Not too breezy, either.
-
The wind picked up yesterday afternoon making it very cold to be out in. It's colder than yesterday this morning but no frost today, the hot air balloon was up again but quickly disappeared into the cloud which is very low. No rain as yet but it looks like another cold, dull grey day again .
-
Looks like a repeat of yesterday and same for the next few days here.
Looks set for a lovely sunny day here if a bit chilly. Not too breezy, either.

Dry but really blowy. Two degrees when I got up at 6am and now only up to 5. Looks quite bright through the window.

Cold again still 0c and there's a distinct nip to it with a stiff breeze. I don't want to jinx it but we've currently got some sunshine  and it's supposed to hit 8c later.
-
Another bright day, sunshine coming and going, just 4C now, but as we've lost that cold wind, not too bad at all.
-
We had a windy night - double checked the greenhouse was properly shut before bed. Calmer this morning but storms on the way. Bright sunshine due to give way to rain this afternoon.
-
A bright sunny morning with a wind that would cut you in two.

Much warmer this morning 7c but with a chilly breeze, patchy sunshine at the moment but it doesn't look like it will last.

A grey, overcast morning, a bit warmer than yesterday at 9C.
Some sun in the forecast for this afternoon, though...here's hoping :D
-
Ours has gone already :( and it's back to grey gloom.
-
Cold and windy here with the odd drop of rain - enough to feel but not actually wet the ground.
-
Beautiful day sunshine all the way :D
-
The wind has now really picked up and it's spitting. The forecast for the next few days is not good.
-
Started off bright and windy, but it's clouded over now and it looks like we may get some rain. Still mild enough to open the windows for a bit of "fresh" air at 10c.
-
It's bright this morning, with the odd patch of blue and 9C. There's a gusty SE wind, spoiling things a bit though, means the wire hooped cloches have been blown over again ::)
-
A bright, 10C, patchy sunshine morning - but wind gusting at 30mph spoiling things a bit. Rain in the forecast for this afternoon :(
-
Dull and grey :(
-
Windy, grey sky, 10ºC, spitting. :(
-
What a difference a week makes. 27°C and sun a week ago, today 9°C, 5 degrees warmer later, but with more rain.
Tomorrow will bring more cold,
with -7°C at night. I'm going to need to bring a lot of plants in at night for protection.
-
Rain this afternoon :)
-
Rain on and off all day. Not so windy but the sea is really rough. Supposed to be better tomorrow and then go downhill on Sunday.
-

Same again ::)
-
It's 8°C at 6:20 AM, with a cold front coming through, the forecast is for temperature to plummet all day long. Tomorrow at this time, the forecast says we'll have -7°C, a record cold temperature for that date.
All the tender plants and seedlings are coming back in!
-
dull cold windy but dry
-
Mild with some high light cloud rather than the low depressing grey ones of late. No sign of rain but it's a bit breezy - actually, it's a pretty normal March day.
-

Same here, but rain forecast for later :(
Well, they got the rain forecast right.........

-
Cold and frosty again this morning, with a heavy mist which has yet to clear.
-
This morning is bright and clear, 8C and the wind has calmed, so it feels mild :)
-
Same here but the suns shinning now i've come in from green house :)
-
There was a good frost this morning and the bright start continued into wall to wall sunshine, although there was still a chill wind at times
-
Yesterday was pretty nice according to the forecasters.. shame the weather gods weren't told because it poured down in the afternoon.
Today has started nicely, around 10ºC calm and a bit of sunshine.
-
Our mist cleared and yesterday turned out rather nice. This morning was very cold with another heavy frost, it's still rather grey but lighter so hopefully today will turn out the same as yesterday.
-
9C on the thermometer, but feels colder ? with sunny patches.
I think ITV's teatime forecast was a tad optimistic giving highs of 15C for this afternoon - but we'll see.
Would be really nice if it was right 8)
-
Not 15c but 12c this afternoon with hazy sunshine :)
-
I think ITV's teatime forecast was a tad optimistic giving highs of 15C for this afternoon - but we'll see.
Would be really nice if it was right 8)
Alex Beresford did it again today, said it would rain tomorrow but the rest of the week the SE would be up in the high teens and we should start applying sunscreen ::) I hope he's right but will believe it when I see it
-
Light rain at the moment - about 7ºC but calm.
-
Light rain at the moment - about 7ºC but calm.
The same here...
-
Warmer this morning 8c but it's gone grey and dark again.
-
started of damp and dull drizzling of rain not to bad the as the morning progressed it began to look a lot like it mite be general rain so we left the allotment around lunchtime and after about 15 minuets when we got indoors down came the rain got back just in time :)
-
Very heavy frost this morning and it's still below freezing. It's bright and sunny with a blue sky though and the forecast is for 10c. Fingers crossed for a decent day.
-
A bright and sunny, frost-free morning here, it's supposed to warm up for this afternoon and tomorrow according to some forecasts.....
It would be really nice if the optimistic ones are correct
-
Much brighter today after a really miserable damp day yesterday.
-
Cold, 0c so far and misty again, yesterday turned out to be pretty nondescript.
-
A bit cooler last night, 2.5C in the greenhouse.
This morning is a sunny 8C and forecast to be fine all day 8) We'll see how warm it actually gets as ITV and MetO don't agree
-
Looks like a lovely day's on the cards today - sunny, calm, dry - about 10ºC on the clock but feels warmer in the sun.
-
Beautiful day just been for a walk along the beach :)
-
It's lovely out there - chilly 10ºC in the shade so stick to the sunny bits!
-
Looks promising here too - high blue sky and the sun is out for once. Still a little chilly at 5c but I'll take it over the constant grey gloom of late.
-
It's lovely out there - chilly 10ºC in the shade so stick to the sunny bits!
Snap!! Luckily the big greenhouse is in the sun, from first thing and warm enough to drink my cuppa tea in there 8)
Overnight low was 6C.
-
Turned out to be a lovely day yesterday, Cold and frosty start today and a bitter wind making it feel much colder. It's bright and sunny again though. :)
-
Patchy sunshine here, feels cool again, 8C
The overnight low in the g/house was 2.5C
-
Blooming freezing. Heavy frost which the sun is dealing with. Light breeze, looks as if it's going to be a good one.
-
Very cold this morning and a heavy frost, currently -3c. It's grey but lighter than normal so it might brighten up later on.
-
Quite a warm start at 10ºC here, calm but cloudy. Might see some drizzle later but tomorrow is looking very nice in the forecast.
-

This storm is supposed to pay us a visit tomorrow (though nor everywhere will be this bad).
-
Wow! That's pretty scary - hope it calms down a lot before it reaches you.
-
At least over here we only (mainly) have just mediocre weather to deal with.
Cool start again today 6c, bit of hazy sunshine and pretty still. Yesterday turned out to be really nice but I got caught up in some paperwork and didn't get chance to go out and play :( .
-
Brilliant sunshine, it's 14C already and the heating is OFF (at least for now :D)
Overnight low in the g/house was 4C.
-
A hazy, blue sky and sunny start at 9C.
Overnight low in the greenhouse was 2C
-
A bit misty this morning but the sun has burnt it off. It's still cool at 7c and a bit hazy but looking like another decent day. Down side is I've started to sneeze, I'm hoping it's just from opening everything up and letting what appears to be several tonnes of dust blow about.
-
Cloudy but it's very warm - about 19ºC. Sun supposed to come out this afternoon.. we'll see.

This storm is supposed to pay us a visit tomorrow (though nor everywhere will be this bad).
We were fortunate. The storm brought no severe impacts here, and passed through.
Today, partly sunny, cool, breezy. Perfect weather for working outside, which may be why I'm stuck working inside!
-
Bad luck Subp, ain't that always the way ::)
Here the sun is burning away the overnight mist and it's 13C, there's no breeze to speak of :)
Overnight low in the g/house was 3C
-
A bit hazy and chilly first thing but another nice spring day. I'm going to put the bed linen in the washer with the hope of getting it air dried on the line - lets see if doing so brings torrential rain
-
Chilly start with light frost on the lawn. Soon brightened up but we never really lost the breeze which was at times chilly.
-
Bad luck Subp, ain't that always the way ::)
Considering what could have happened, I will take our outcome as the very best of GOOD luck! (But I know what you mean) :)
Today it's cool and windy, and can't make up it's mind between completely overcast and partly sunny.
-
Looks like an amazing weekend ahead here - sunshine, blue skies, calm. 15ºC already, predicting 20ºC
-
14C and sunny 8) overnight low in the g/house was 2C.
Make the most of it John :)
Tomorrow, we're forecast cloud, 10-11C, with a NE wind *sigh*
So no tea in the garden for Mother's day, then ::)
-
T-shirt and shorts weather  (Not me before you panic, but people in the park). Bit too warm in the sun for serious work but a good breeze making pottering nice.
-
Strappy top time for me! :)
-
Bit cooler but another beautiful day. Sun shining down from the blue. :) Hate to say it.. we could do with a drop of rain.
-
We've lost the sunshine, just when a Mother's day tea in the garden would have been a treat ::)
It's 7C cloudy and the breeze is from the NE. Sigh!
-
On the chilly side with patchy sun although the cloud are gathering. The forecast is showing snow for Thursday
-
On the chilly side with patchy sun although the cloud are gathering. The forecast is showing snow for Thursday

-
It's misty, grey, 7C and the breeze is from the NE. So not very nice at all.
2C in the g/house over night
-
Grey again and although 7c it feels cold as there's no sun about. Still snow forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, I imagine it will be changed to rain shortly though.
-
Lovely day here again but getting colder. Still, better bright and cold than dull and cold.
-
CH not on here much now. So spend the morning in a thermal vest, thermal tshirt. thick jumper, gillet, and my outdoor thick coat. Pathetic. Oh and a scarf. Mrs Bouquet
-
CH not on here either so I am also sat in a fleece coat. Otherwise it's been raining on and off all day, very overcast and grey.
-
A grey, drizzly, morning here, 7C. Not much breeze but it's still from the NE.
Overnight low in the g/house was 6C
-
Back to cold 4c and grey here too and it's not forecast to get any warmer. The snow has been changed to rain and keeps getting bumped, it is now due to show up mid afternoon. I turned the CH off as usual when we moved the clocks and I'm not putting it back on until we move them again. Them's the rules.
-
Cloudy grey sky, about 10ºC and a bit of rain possible. Calm, which is good. Heating on.
-
It's been trying to rain all morning, but with little success.
Temperature has dropped from 6.5C at 0600 to 3.5C now - heating most definitely ON! ;)
-
damp cold trying to rain gone back to the winter weather what's happened to all that spring sunshine we had a couple of days ago
-
Dry, bright but very chilly. We are forecast sleet/rain overnight so I think the CH will be back on tomorrow.
-
How the weather changers over the counties weve had a really lovely afternoon temp reached 18, no heating on here i'm sitting in jeans and tshirt :D
-
COLD this morning -3c and a bitter wind to go with it. Heavy frost still where there's been no sun yet. Although there's a bit of sun trying this morning, makes it feel better than yesterday's dull grey rain.
-
Patchy blue sky, so far, this morning, 3C with gusty wind from the North - forecast shows gusts of 42mph later
Lots of rain overnight, down to 2C in the greenhouse.
I thought it had started raining, but it's hail - don't think I'll bother going for a paper today ::)
-
Quite pretty out there - fluffy clouds against blue. Bit breezy which makes it feel colder than the 3ºC on the thermometer
-
Bitterly cold here, snow flurries earlier but lovely sunshine at the moment. Tunnel got down to 2.2 overnight which I was surprised by as thought it would be lower.
-
Only managing 4c here today, but feels much colder with strong NE winds. Had about 30 mins of snow this mid-morning but it didn't settle. Sun is shining now.
-
sunshine and blue sky while i sit here now but bitterly cold wind :)
-
We've had the odd hail shower, rain shower and a few flakes of snow. It's the wind that is so cold, otherwise it's been dry and bright.
-
damn cold snow showers back to winter coats and hats I say bring on the sunshine :D
-
Some heavy clouds in a blue sky. Little breeze. Cold. Hail lying on the ground.
-
Grey, cold and windy on the South coast. Had a 10 second flurry of snow yesterday.
-
Cold -2c again this morning. Heavy frost being burnt off by the sun. The nasty bitter wind from yesterday has also thankfully gone. It'll be a nice day if it stays like this.
-
Woke up to a thin layer of snow, with more falling  It's being blown all over the place in the gusty NE wind - not nice at all.
It's a curl up with a book day, that's for sure ;)
-
early frost soon cleared but still cold wind sunny spells it gets black over Bills Mothers then it snows after about ten minuets it stops and the sun comes out but we still have that bitterly cold wind not allotment weather I have to say so hopefully next week will be warmer and we can get back down the allotments with a bit of sun on our backs :D
-
Been a bitterly cold day with winds. There was a heavy frost this morning, we’ve had snow showers & brilliant sunshine, rain , almost everything it can throw at us really
-
Woke up to brilliant sunshine, but cold and frosty @ 2C.
The NE breeze is beginning to get gusty again, so makes it feel worse. No surprise, then, that Mollycat doesn't want to set foot outside ::)
-
Heavy frost again but it's burning off quickly as we currently have hazy sunshine. Cold though but better than yesterday afternoon's snow and sleet showers.
-
We've had a drop of rain overnight, hardly enough to wet the washing. Cold start, dull grey day. But it's calm at least
-
Started off -2c with bright sunshine, it was a nice crisp morning walk around the park. It's now gone grey, dark and it's starting to drizzle.
-
Heavy frost this morning but sunny, with a slight breeze from the North. It's up to 2C now, but the greenhouse doors are still frozen up
-
Not as cold as it has been but still not very bright. Light frost this morning on the lawn. Depending on who you listen to, it's either going to get colder again or warm up. I do hope it's the latter.
-
A rainy morning, 5C - Mollycat didn't like the look of it, can't say I blame her :D
-
same here and i'm out for the day :(
-
Thick cloud, wet, breezy & cold.
-
Cold, grey, misty, drizzle after heavy rain overnight.
-
Rain overnight and a damp grey drizzly start so far. Warmer than late at 10c but it doesn't feel like it.
-
Warmish, at 10C with light rain this morning, forecast to stop soon. Fingers crossed ;)
-
Nice change today we have sunshine :D
-
Warm - 10c but grey and dark and there's a noticeable breeze.
-
I'll go with Lardman but add intermittent showers.
-
Middling day here - grey, cool, breezy and damp. Ho Hum.
-
Mild 6c, grey, damp and drizzling. Meh.
-
Mild 6c, grey, damp and drizzling. Meh.
We got the same, but a bit warmer at 9C
-
It's gone from dry and windy to wet and windy this morning - was planning an hour in the garden this afternoon but that could well be postponed...
-
Very heavy rain this morning, better this afternoon. Breezy with occasional stronger gusts. Not too cold and nice sat in the shop window in the corner reading my book. ::) Road works still causing us major problems.
-
Rain and more rain and lots of wind :)
-
Dry so far this morning, but very windy overnight and still gusty now. Mild 6c not that you'd know it in the wind though.
-
Sun and blue sky, looks lovely but there's a cold wind gusting at up to 40mph, which has finally done for my ancient garden arch  Just the rose holding bits of it up now :(
-
The wind has kept me awake most of the night - both greenhouses appear to be OK this morning. Dry now but some rain in the night.
-
Very wet and windy overnight and it's not warm here at all!
-
Looks lovely through the window, bright blue sky with white fluffy clouds and then you go outside and that cold gusty wind hits you. A few spits and spots later on this afternoon.
-
Wow! What a difference. Blue sky with fluffy white clouds, sunshine. Calm, dry and warming up from 8ºC
-
Cold and frost start but warming up quickly with blue sky and sunshine  Lost a few more tiles or at least parts of them off the roof in yesterdays winds, really going to have to get that replaced something in the very near future.
-
Here, in Kent, we have grey sky and 7C. The breeze is from the NE and there are showers forecast for later *sigh*
Guess it's a sewing, rather than a sowing day, then ::)
-
Same here, Mum!
And yesterday, we had the conservatory painted, and the wind got up and chucked dust, insects, bits of tree etc., all over the wet paint!
It took half an hour to pressure wash most of the stuff, but as our favourite painter said, just wait for it to rain, and it'll all go! He's right of course!
-
Mad weather here.
It will be 3°C tonight, 2°C tomorrow night, and 28°C for the high four days from now.
At least it's not snowing or raining.
I shouldn't have said anything
-
Cloudier than yesterday, cooler as well.Possibly showers to come. Very April!
-
It's 4C and sunny this morning, after yesterday's dross - still wish it would warm up a bit, though ::)
-
Heavy frost again this morning, hazy sunshine but still cold at 3c and it's still on the breezy side.
-
Beautiful clear, starry sky tonight - but it's cold!
-
Patchy on and off sunshine, but a cool 5C.
1C overnight in the greenhouse ::)
-
Colder than forecast, it hit 0°C this morning. That's just weird for us this time of year. It is supposed to get up to 22°C this afternoon. Sunny already, that should help.
-
Dull, grey and a mild 12c.
-
Dry and quite bright but with a very chilly wind.
-
13C with patchy blue/sunshine, not as windy as yesterday - so feels warmer.
Overnight low in the greenhouse was 8C :)
-
Unpleasant this morning, steady rain from the early hours, currently grey, mild at 8c but damp and still raining.
-
10ºC, calm, drizzle from a grey sky...
Polytunnel today.
-
Early morning rain but mild 9c and damp.
-
Light grey sky and 10C, calm now but gusty wind forecast for later.
Overnight low of 8C in the greenhouse, which was just as well as I forgot some of the tomatoes were out there ::)
-
Misty start but it cleared quickly. Now it's just grey with low cloud.
-
There's a bit of cloud, then a bit of sun, and repeat, 12C which doesn't feel warm, unless you're in the greenhouse ;)
Overnight low in there was 6C
2pm and it is 17C now - 32C in the g/house with doors and windows open 8)
-
Pretty grey day here, bit of breeze and cool at 14ºC but it's not raining.
-
Hazy sunshine and 13C this morning, no breeze to speak of, 6C overnight in the greenhouse.
-
More or less like yesterday here in Snowdonia. Not what I hoped for but at least it's not raining.
-
It's sunny with glorious blue sky, 13C and the overnight low was 7C.
The cherry trees and lilac are blooming, I think Spring has arrived :D
-
Yesterday afternoon and evening was gorgeous. Sunny and warm. Today is starting the same, blue sky - bit hazy. Rain due to arrive across the Irish sea late afternoon.
-
It's sunny with glorious blue sky, 13C and the overnight low was 7C.
We have a cool breeze this morning making it a degree cooler than yesterday, overnight was 6C.
-
Lovely bright warm day, spent some time in the greenhouse this afternoon.
-
There's high cloud, this morning, and it's cooler at 11C with a cool breeze today from the NE.
Greenhouse low was 4.5C
-
Cool 9ºC and grey here. Brief showers too. The heavy rain predicted yesterday didn't turn up - just a brief light shower.
-
Strangely pleasant for a bank holiday  We had some large rain drops Sunday night for a while but it wasn't heavy and didn't last. Back to normal this morning cooler at 4c and clouding over but not grey yet.
-
Light grey hazy sky, 12C slight breeze from NE.
Forecast is for rain this afternoon, think we need some ;)
Overnight low was 5C in g/house, tomatoes doing ok in there, but they're still in their pots in case we get a frost forecast.
-
Today's very April. Lovely and warm in the sunshine earlier, now dropped to around 8ºC in the rain from a grey sky. Brrrr!
-
It's 10C and sunny, but still with that cool NE wind.
Overnight low in the greenhouse was 7C
-
Quite a nice start - 10ºC, little breeze and the sun keeps getting through the cloud. Got a feeling the afternoon will be really nice.
-
It's supposed to be 16c but you'd never know it ! We had a bit of drizzle this morning and it feels much colder, it's grey and very windy, bit of a miserable day really.
-
It's supposed to be 16c but you'd never know it ! We had a bit of drizzle this morning and it feels much colder, it's grey and very windy, bit of a miserable day really.
Same here :(
-
The forecast is "mostly sunny", the view out of the window disagrees. It's grey with threatening dark grey clouds, cool at 11c and it's still very windy making it feel more colder.
-
The forecast is "mostly sunny",
Mmmm, we have the same, the sun is coming and going. with more emphasis on the going, so far. Wind is Northerly, so the big hedge shelters the garden, somewhat, so it does feel warm when the sun is out 14C
Overnight 'low' in the g/house was 10C
-
Looks like a lovely weekend in play here. Sunny, gentle breeze and dry.
-
Sunny and 14C, but still the cold northeast wind, but lovely in the greenhouse 8) the overnight low in there was 9C.
-
Sunny start to the day but the wind is still making it feel considerably colder than the 14c it is. It's also started to cloud over again :(
-
Very chilly start to the day, didn't (as far as I'm concerned) really warm up all day. Very overcast and we had a few spits and spots of rain.
-
Very chilly start to the day, didn't (as far as I'm concerned) really warm up all day. Very overcast and we had a few spits and spots of rain.
Same I even switched the c/h back on for a while
-
Hazy cloud, coming and going, this morning, and it's cool at 11C with the breeze still from the NE.
Greenhouse low was 4.5C
-
Hazy sunshine here and still a brisk wind making it feel cold. I've not resorted to putting the heating on but I'm still wearing 3 layers when just pottering around the house  Not helped by what I assume is tree pollen leaving me constantly sneezing of a morning.
-
Brighter but that breeze (not strong enough to be called wind) still has a very cold edge to it. I'm with Lardy with no heating but three layers but if the predicted cold snap comes back in May it's going back on.
-
Light grey sky, might get some sun breaking through if we're lucky. 10ºC isn't bad for 8am and little wind to chill things.
Very dry still so had to set the sprinklers to work on the field plot.
-
Low grey cloud, wind has dropped a little but still cutting and it's only 9c and feels very cold. Time for nice mug of warm milk - is 10:30 too early for a dribble of something medical in it?

Course NOT
More of yesterday's gammon for me :) I needed to make room in the freezer after this morning's shopping delivery, so pulled out some of last year's blackberries and apples, so will make a pie for afters :)
-
The breeze is a bit stronger today, enough so that the surfers are out at Compton Beach. Otherwise quite bright but still very chilly.
-
Grey and quite still. Not particularly warm either.
-
Grey, low cloud and dark with it. Still pretty breezy but it doesn't feel as biting as the last few days. 8c outside and only 13c inside, I should really put the heating back on as I'd say it's actually cold.
-
Not too bad here today, grey skies but around 12ºC and calm. Really dry and we could do with some rain. Had to get the sprinkler going the other day over the field plot.
-
Really dry and we could do with some rain. Had to get the sprinkler going the other day over the field plot.
It's a BH weekend - I expect you'll be getting some rain over it
-
Grey and cool at only 13C, 3C overnight.
Forecast is for cool weather, with occasional frosts  to continue for at least the first week of May :(
-
The weather here today?
I can't complain, but sometimes I still do . . .
22 C, sunny
-
Overcast, chilly and breezy. Haven't been outside but I do know that indoors I'm not very warm. Might sneak the heating back on over the weekend as I'm better than Paul at knowing how the controls work. I agree with Lardy it's a Bank Holiday, it's bound to rain. :D
-
Carbon copy of yesterday so far, although the wind appears to have dropped a bit. Still a meh day.
-
We have alternating sunny and cloudy spells, still with the cold N Easterly, so only 11C now :(
It was down to 4C in the g/house overnight.
-
Bright and sunny this morning  and the wind has dropped. But its definitely not warm at the moment being just 4c.
-
They reckon much needed rain will come later today. Now it's pleasant, around 15ºC, calm and bright if a bit of haze.
-
Grey and 10C, still with the chill NE breeze which doesn't make me want to be outside.
Wouldn't mind, as much, if we were getting the rain we need - but still none forecast for here, for the foreseeable :(
-
Grey - 8c and the predicted bank holiday drizzle. Hope you managed to get some yesterday before sending it my way John.
-
Here, we have high cloud and 12C, overnight low in the g/house was 7C. The cold breeze has stopped :)
-
Yesterday became very cloudy but it was barely a drop of rain from the sky - the lightest of drizzle. So to encourage Taranis, the Celtic god responsible I put the sprinklers on. Didn't really work too well as we've had less than a millimetre in 24 hours!
7 am we were in the clouds and I couldn't see beyond the edge of the patio! Went back to bed :) 9 am the clouds have risen but the rain is on light mist setting. 10ºC
-
This is my appeal to the rain gods - please, please, very nice please, can I have some rain for about a week.
I don't want to spoil anybody's parade, so just on my plot will do. Mrs B
-
Cool (10ºC), calm and cloudy. Not a day for the beach!
-
Cool (10ºC), calm and cloudy. Not a day for the beach!
Snap - and still no rain :(
-
Dark, grey and feels cold despite it being 14c. It's 1pm and It's so dark I've had to put the lights on.
-
Grey, dark, 9c and still. I wouldn't say we've had rain, just misty drizzle but the pavement and cars were damp this morning.
-
Grey skies, fine mist setting rain on and off, calm, 12ºC
Sort of a nothing day.
-
Grey and cool enough for the c/h to be on
Fed up with it now... wouldn't mind so much if we actually got some rain out of those clouds ::)
-
Slightly warmer with rain this morning, enough to get pretty wet taking Max around the park. Still grey and generally gloomy - feels more like late Oct or Nov out there.
-
See yesterday with a little extra drizzle
-
Grey and cool enough for the c/h to be on
Fed up with it now... wouldn't mind so much if we actually got some rain out of those clouds ::)
We've actually got light rain, I hope it's more than a sprinkle ::)
-
It was raining when we got to Brighton, but very little here. It is dull and misty with the wind blowing. I feel cold - has anybody still put their C/H on for a spell. I am.
-
It can rain after tomorrow NOT before PLEASE :D
-
It's been a bit warmer than it has been, no rain as promised but the breeze has woken up again. The sky went a funny colour earlier and we really thought we would get a downpour but nothing happened.
-
Grey and cool enough for the c/h to be on
Fed up with it now... wouldn't mind so much if we actually got some rain out of those clouds ::)
We've actually got light rain, I hope it's more than a sprinkle ::)
Had a good downpour late this afternoon and again this evening - the smell of Petrichor outside, now, is amazing
-
We've had a little drizzle overnight but it's looking set for a decent, dry day. Cloudy with sun trying to break through, 13ºC already.
-
We've had a little drizzle overnight but it's looking set for a decent, dry day. Cloudy with sun trying to break through, 13ºC already.
About the same here :)
-
Bit of hazy sunshine this morning, light breeze and 12c - almost pleasant. The forecast is for 20c later
-
We had one down pour last night , today is fine blue sky and sunshine just right for this afternoon
' Open Gardens for horticultral club '
-
Very humid in Dublin at the moment, overcast and 18 degrees Celsius
-
Cloudy and the odd spot of rain but not cold for a change!
-
Bright but breezy. Still no rain.
-
Started off nice enough - felt a bit of a wally walking Max in my winter coat and a hat. But it's clouded over, gone grey, the wind has picked up - it feels cold even if it's not particularly at 14c.
-
It's around 13ºC here but a cold wind gusting occasionally. Grey skies with a big rain band heading towards us from Ireland.
-
It's been sunny so far and 17C, but out of the sun the chilly breeze cools you down quickly. So I worked at the sunny end of the plot :D
-
Weird mix of 26°C, partly cloudy, not enough rain to fill a thimble, and a tornado watch for the next 6 hours. Fun.
But wait ... there's more! Found out that a low pressure system off our east coast could become our first tropical storm of 2022, if so, may hit Savannah, Georgia. That's about 4 weeks earlier than the routine tropical storm season.
-
Well we're not as exciting as Georgia here in Wales (Phew!)
Blue skies, gentle breeze, sunshine, around 12ºC already :D
-
We’ve got drizzly rain and grey skies.
John - your weather has escaped over the border again
-
We’ve got drizzly rain and grey skies.
John - your weather has escaped over the border again
Yup!! Dark grey and threatening rain now, after yesterday's warmth we're back down to 14C ::)
-
Sunny  and warm 12c, if you're out of the wind. Looks like a good day to do laundry.
-
It was a lovely morning , it's now changed this afternoon large big cloudes over head perhaps we' ll see some rain tonight :)
-
Brightened up now, have had a few spits and spots of rain but the sky is very dark and I expect we'll get some more.
-
It's been a lovely day here - little chill in the wind but fantastic if you're sheltered from it.
-
And it's a lovely start to the day here! :D
Bright sunshine but a bit breezy. Feels warm enough when sheltered from the breeze.
-
It started to look a bit menacing late yesterday afternoon but it was all mouth and no trousers. This morning we are back to dark low grey cloud and drizzle but still mild at 11c.
-
And it's a lovely start to the day here! :D
Bright sunshine but a bit breezy. Feels warm enough when sheltered from the breeze.
Snap!
-
Beautiful day :D
-
Another sunny morning, 14C and the breeze is now from the South 8)
-
Grey skies but not too cold, breezy and much needed heavy rain on the way this afternoon - hopefully!
-
Well we had rain but it was far from heavy - just enough to be annoying all day :(
Today is supposed to be bright and sunny but it's not looking that way yet. Grey, cool 14ºC and a bit breezy.
-
Supposed to have had a useful amount of rain yesterday, but it petered out before it got here. :nowink:
No rain here for 5 days (and then it was a mere 1.8mm!)
-
Started off nice enough - warm 13c and sunny. But the wind is from John's way and it's brought some pretty ugly looking rain clouds. The wind has picked up which is keeping them moving but it doesn't look like it's going to stay dry.
-
John: Grey, cool 14ºC and a bit breezy.
Same here :(
-
cannot see across the valley for misty clouds. mizzly windy and I need some proper rain.
-
After a gloomy, wet start it brightened up about lunchtime and been much improved since then although we've still got a strong breeze.
-
Here we have 14C, 'Shades of Grey' sky and a strong breeze 22mph. Don't think I'll be doing much outside ::)
-
First decent bit of rain in a while!
-
Enough drizzle to dampen things for an hour but it's brightening up now.
-
Today was supposed to be bright sunshine but nobody told the weather gods so it's overcast and a bit breezy.
16ºC, dry.
-
It can't make up its mind here. There's a very strong breeze moving things along quickly so it's cycling from bright sunny and warm to dark, grey and threatening.
The pollen count must be terrible as I feel and look like someone has punched me in the face. I think it's the huge sycamore out the front causing it.
-
Well MetO said sunshine and warming up quickly to 19C - all I can say is that they got it wrong again ::)
It's 16C now, mostly cloudy, with the odd flash of sunshine, and the wind is gusting strongly from the SW :nowink:
-
Dry, bright but still very breezy. Not that warm (well to me anyway).
-
Today will be mostly gorgeous. Blue sky, little cloud, slight breeze and warm. :D :D :D
-
This morning was really nice, warm and sunny with just hint of a breeze. We're getting some high wispy cloud now but the windows and doors are open, the fresh air is circulating and all the bedding is in the washing. If it keeps up I may be motivated to do something productive today.
-
Weather forecast predicted heavy rain and thunder overnight so I was ready to spend the night on the settee with a quivering dog.
Not a drop.
It's very grey but that's all you can say. We desperately need rain.
-
It's 14C and raining steadily here atm. I wanted to finish planting out my peas but we do really need the rain, so I'll suffer in silence :D
-
If it keeps up I may be motivated to do something productive today.
I did try but the universe had different plans. :( after I had to put the same washing back on for the third time I called it a day.
Today is the polar opposite - Drizzle, grey and a strong breeze and it's very muggy with it too. Meh.
-
Nice to have some rain finally, last rain here was 2nd May of a few mm.
Rain showers started early morning and so far 3mm.
Very dark grey skies here, so expecting some more showers.
Be nice to not have to water the garden for a few days :)
-
Yipee rain at least they've had a little drink :) need a lot more yet :)
-
We had a glorious summer day yesterday in mid May :D
Today is a reminder that it is not summer yet. Gloomy all morning and now steady rain. It is not cold though, the garden and plot need it and the birds are doing their ‘It’s raining, it’s pouring’ chorus. They are probably looking forward to worms coming up in the soil to within nabbing distance :)
-
Two rumbles of thunder and a steady drizzle first thing. This afternoon has cheered up and the wind has dropped, not enough to convince us to go outside though so have done some jobs indoors.
-
Rain started eventually about 10, we've had light rain up until about half an hour ago.
-
22C earlier this afternoon, rain in the south supposed to be reaching here soon, but looks to be dying away as it moves north towards us.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow...
-
The rain dance must've worked - it's been peeing down for the last couple of hours. I needn't have bothered watering the flowers in.
-
Had a really good downpour overnight that has topped the pond up nicely. Put paid to my gardening plans for today though
-
We have more of the same - grey drizzle, no substantial rain and it's very muggy.
-
Hard to say how much rain we've had overnight, the super electro-mechanical gauge is not reliable any more. Maybe 10mm.. Grey, 13ºC and we may get lightening this afternoon.
-
Yesterday the forecast showed today as wall to wall sunshine, Lovely I thought, overnight it has changed to what we actually have, grey, breezy, muggy and 15C. ::) Sunny periods perhaps this afternoon, I won't hold my breath :nowink:
-
After several weeks with only the occasional millimetre or so of rain I didn't mind being woken up at 4am this morning by the sound of quite heavy and persistent rain - about half an inch in total. :)
Now grey, misty and 15C - every quarter of an hour for the last few hours I've been trying to convince myself it's getting a bit brighter...
-
Must have rained overnight as the flat roof had puddles on it. Never heard all the thunder we were supposed to have had but all the photos are from West Wight. A few showers this morning but then it was quite bright, driving back from the shop steam was coming off the road and several house roofs.
-
Lovely sunshine and warmth this morning 16C and the grass is soaked from the overnight rain, more rain forecast for tonight, as well. Woohoo!
-
Much the same here. We had rain last nigh and it was still a bit grey first thing but now clearing to bright sunshine :)
-
Well we had a decent amount of rain yesterday - I got soaked going from potting shed to greenhouse so retreated indoors. Cool, breezy but dry and sunny today. :)
-
We had a couple of thunder storms blow though overnight and this morning it is raining steadily. Just what the gardens neeeded :)
On the minus side the flowers, just beginning to open on the climbing roses, are now all over the footpath *sigh* It looked so pretty yesterday ::)
-
RAINING!!!!
Some thunder in the early hours, steady rain since then. Hopefully will last a few hours more.
-
My rain measuring thingy seems to be on the fritz but still tells me the temperature OK. Anyhoo, we've had a reasonable amount of rain over the last couple of days. Had to use the backup finger in the soil measuring system.
Supposed to be a decent day ahead! :D
-
Rain over night but no where near the amount they predicted. It's looking promising so far this morning though, a bit of high cloud but mainly blue sky and sunshine with a nice breeze to stop it being unpleasant. I've tempted fate and put some washing on.
-
Apparently the storm started about 10pm last night. I never heard a thing. Lots of lightning and only a few rumbles. Quite bright and warm today but a warning of more rain for tomorrow.
-
It's gone grey again, low cloud and pretty windy too. It's dropped to 13c and I'm back to 2 layers.
-
Raining, slow and steady, hoping for a few more hours. The 'lawn' is looking better already.
-
Raining, slow and steady, hoping for a few more hours.
It's the same here, cool and quite dark, plus something I haven't said in a while, the footpath is flooded :D
-
Heavy rain all morning then brightened up and been quite nice this afternoon.
-
It's a delightful 92 F / 33 C in Athens, Georgia, full sun. There is no breeze, no rain, nor clouds to alter the effect.
The ground is baked and cracked except where I water. We are supposed to have a good shot at rain each day for the next 7 days, it can't come soon enough.
-
Cooler today, after all the rain, 14C with a hazy sky and sun breaking through occasionally.
-
Misty, cloudy, damp, 14ºC
Stuff to do in the polytunnel today :)
-
It started off nice enough - sunny, warm and with a good breeze. It's clouded over again now though and it's just grey, muggy and still.
-
Blessed by a slow, steady soaking rain :). More days like this expected this week.
-
It's quite cool at only 14C and we've had steady rain since first thing..
-
Grey day - pretty nondescript. Reasonable though - 17ºC
-
12C this morning with cloud coming and going, breezy with it.
Pouring with rain now ::)
-
We managed a fair amount of rain late evening and overnight, enough to make it soggy in the park this morning. At least making use of the greyness.
This morning is more of the same grey, mild, muggy stillness. If I'd bothered to plant any tomatoes this year I'd be serious concerned about blight at the moment.
-
Some heavy showers showing up on the radar, racing SE-wards on a cool NW wind (only 13C.)
Not one of them has targeted my parched garden so far...
-
Cool winds with the occasional showers and a burst of sun.
-
Damp grey start, had a few drops overnight by the look of things. Cool 10ºC and a bit breezy. It's strange here, the late afternoon and evening are often lovely even if the day was miserable. Fingers crossed!
-
More heavy rain overnight, grey and drizzly now, plus a gusty 'breeze' - not very nice at all, and so much I should be doing on the plot *sigh*
-
Dry but with a chilly gusty breeze here. Bit of a 'wobbly wheel', as we call it, moment going over the top of the Downs this morning
-
The breeze has dropped and warmed up, finally. Otherwise a very pleasant day.
-
It's grey, breezy and 9C, maximum in the metO forecast today is 13C
Where has Spring gone?
-
We had a glorious day yesterday and have blue sky and sunshine this morning, although we are forecast a cloudy and dull day. I guess it is rolling its way towards us ::)
-
Yesterday was lovely here too :)
Looking very promising with blue skies and fluffy white clouds, quite calm too. Maybe 12ºC in the shade according to the Met. but it's short sleeves in the sunshine.
-
Nasty shock to the system today - its gone very cold and very damp. The best it's managed is 12c and grey so far with on and off drizzle.
-
Grey skies, breeze, light rain on and off, cool at 10ºC. All my fault for putting the sprinkler on the potatoes yesterday evening, sympathetic magic!
-
It was really nice this morning. Bright, sunny and not overly hot.I managed to cut the front "lawn" but it's turned pitch black now and it's raining. :(
-
only 13c. Just white clouds and a cold breeze.
-
A very cool, grey 11C at the moment - a bit of rain forecast but I'll believe it when I see it.
Still playing the hokey cokey with my runner beans and sweetcorn, both of which are more than ready to plant outside, but think I'll delay it for a few days until it warms up a bit.
-
It's grey, breezy and cool at 14C, not much warmer indoors so c/h back on again ::)
Global warming?
-
It's grey, breezy and cool at 14C, not much warmer indoors so c/h back on again ::)
It's like that here today too, but there's no way I'm putting the CH on out of principle :nowink:
edit : And now hail... and I've had to put the lights on it's so dark.
-
It's grey, breezy and cool at 14C, not much warmer indoors so c/h back on again ::)
Global warming?
Today is a repeat of yesterday, with some rain thrown in for good measure. YUK!
-
It's the light rain on (most of the time) and off - the light rain that makes you wet but doesn't get far into the ground which is nicely dry
-
As yesterday, some very heavy showers showing up on the radar, but none here (yesterday; nothing, today so far; half a millimetre! :nowink:)
-
Today is a repeat of yesterday, with some rain thrown in for good measure. YUK!
The wind has really got up, the sky's gone black and we have hail
-
Started damp but cheering up a bit now - quite warm at 15ºC and calm.
-
It's a repeat of yesterday here - Grey, showers and drizzle with a strong breeze, it's a little warmer at 11c.
-
We had rain on and off yesterday and at times it was pretty heavy.
Today the ground is still damp and there are some grey clouds threatening more, but there is also blue sky and sunshine in-between.
-
14c max today. A few minutes of sunshine between those nasty clouds. Rained very heavily yesterday evening.
-
Morning!
Blue sky, sun shining on blue sea, not a breath of wind. Just fabulous 🙂
-
A bit warmer start than yesterday, 15C already, with sunny and cloudy spells, so far.
It's supposed to turn warmer and sunnier, later on :)
-
Nice today  . I had to double check it was actually a bank holiday.
High wispy clouds, warm in the sun but not too hot a light breeze keeping things fresh.
-
We've had a bit of sunshine but it clouded up this afternoon. Looked brilliant in London for the Trooping of the Colour and the flypast.
-
After the last 2 sunny days, today we're back to grey, and very windy, gusting from the North at 30mph.
We also have thunderstorms in the forecast for today and overnight
-
It was lovely and sunny at 5am as I passed the window but quite cloudy when I properly woke up. Might have a bit of rain soon but not a lot. Hope it's nice for those celebrating the Jubilee.
-
Winds blowing here the same as MoS. May take the paper and sit in the greenhouse because the sun is shining. Too cold for me otherwise.
-
It was grey, cool and drizzly all day and the forecast for the week ahead doesn't look much better :(
-
After the pretty miserable, wet weather yesterday, today is set to be grey skies and cool. Sopping wet grass will be growing and I won't be mowing!
-
It was grey, cool and drizzly all day and the forecast for the week ahead doesn't look much better :(
The forecast was correct, for a change, same again today.. Mollycat turned round and came back in as soon as her feet registered as wet ::)
-
Sunny out there this morning, quite warm as well :)
Probably rain this evening but should be a good day.
-
Here we have high cloud and 16C, so nicer than yesterday, but there are showers in the forecast for this afternoon ::)
-
Here we have high cloud and 16C, so nicer than yesterday, but there are showers in the forecast for this afternoon ::)
Yes, we got the showers.
Today, we have low cloud and fine drizzle, with heavier rain and thunderstorms forecast for later. At least it feels a little warmer today, I had the c/h on for a few hours yesterday ::) The forecast is much the same for the rest of the week.
The soil has gone from bone dry to soaking wet over the last few days!
-
Warm, muggy but thankfully also wet night (hurrah!)
Currently sunny and warm at 19C, but looks like there could be the odd shower sooner and/or later.
-
The sun isn't quite up yet, and it's 21°C already! The fantastic news is we are getting some much-needed rain today, already 1.3 inches with more on the way over the next few hours.
-
Quite cool here - 14ºC, grey, strong breeze and light rain. Supposed to be sunny by late afternoon.
-
We've had a mostly sunny morning, but it's quite breezy out there (gusting at 20mph) which stops if feeling warm :( The promised clouds have now arrived, showers to come, according to the forecast.
-
PLEASE let there be sun shine next week :D
-
It's grey, 16C and horribly humid yuk! at least it isn't raining, yet ::)
-
Breezy, patches of blue in the sky and sunshine on and off. But it's not raining. :)
-
It's been blowing a hoolie here for over a week and still not warm.
-
Very bright sunshine, it's lovely out of the NW breeze ::) which is quite strong and feels chilly ..
Forecast is for a low of 7C overnight :(
-
If you're in a sheltered spot it's lovely but that wind if you can't is cruel.
-
The wind has finally gone, blue skies and the weather has warmed up.
-
It was sunny and 79 F at 7:15 AM (heat index 91 F), forecast for a high of 100 F (38 C) later today. We are expecting a thunderstorm late today as well (which I am looking forward to :) ).
-
It's warm and sunny 18C but still have a breeze which feels quite cool in the shade..
-
21C just now, with very little breeze - don't want to sound ungrateful, but that's about my comfortable upper limit (bit of bad luck I seem to be in for later this week!)
-
Hot and sunny yesterday, albeit still with the strong breeze, sunny again this morning and the breeze has finally dropped.
First outside job today is to water the greenhouses :D
-
Very hot & Sunny, so much so that I had to stay home & miss granddaughters first school sports day to keep her baby brother out of the sun & heat
-
Pleasant first thing, warm and bright but turned very muggy around lunchtime and now it's grey, dark and still.
-
Hot and sunny, MetO says it's 25C, but certainly doesn't feel that hot, but my thermometer has decided not to work any more ::) Typical!!
Watering g/house this morning and plot this afternoon, though.
-
Scorchio and getting even more so tomorrow by all accounts
It is quite humid with it, but clear skies and sunshine all day today. It is only just cooling down a bit now.
-
23C outside here just now - not that keen to check the current temperature in my bedroom.
-
Hot and sticky.
Dog walked, watering done.
-
It's sunny and warm but they reckon the cloud will take over by the afternoon and rain in the evening. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.
-
Hot and sticky
Same, quite a lot of high cloud as well.
-
It's 2 hours before sunr>se, and it's 80 F (27 C)., We are expecting 100 F (37 C) later today. There is some chance for much-needed rain, we'll take it!
-
Looks as if the temperature might have peaked at 29.1C here, and there's a quite gusty wind getting up (strange combination.)
-
Very hot reached 29.5 this afternoon. Fortunately daughter asked me to jump in a paddling pool with my 5 year old grandson so we could both cool off. Smothered in factor 50 and wearing a cricket umpire style hat!! Sorry no picture available :D
Stay cool HH
-
Unpleasant sticky night, but it's fresher now (outside at least). Cloudy 14c with a stiff breeze. We could do with a bit of rain to damp things down.
-
I'm jealous! It was a grey, windy day with rain in the evening. Quite cool too. Welsh summer..
-
22C already this morning, but, according to the forecast, everything changes when the wind veers back to Northerly sometime after lunch ::)
The temperature to fall quickly once that happens (Tomorrow's max forecast is only 15-16C by the afternoon.) :(
-
It has been warm the last few days and I actually took my cardigan off in the shop (we're on the wrong side of the road to get the sun). Today it's gloomier and the breeze is getting stronger with a big dark cloud over us. Not a big lover of heat myself, prefer the cooler weather.
-
It has been cloudy all day with rain at times, but this afternoon has been really dark and gloomy. You need the lights on indoors.
Cooling down fast as well.
-
We had a few spits and spots this afternoon, but it's got really windy now (gusting 35mph according to Meto) so I had to dash out and close the greenhouses up
-
Yesterday as pretty chilly feeling at times and we had some spots of rain - not enough to worry but irritating.
Today is pretty similar, grey, cool, breezy but it's supposed to brighten up this afternoon... we'll see.
-
Thunder, lightening and rain for an hour or so last night.
Cool and dry by this morning, could do with more rain. Needed long sleeved top when I walked the dog
-
Thunder, lightening and rain for an hour or so last night
Yes, all the pot saucers are full this morning, we really needed it.. Wind is really gusty from the NE and sky in that direction is dark with more rain, by the look of it. Looks like I get a day off from watering :D
-
Well we never got a thing, a few spots of rain, not enough to make a difference. Today it has been really gloomy and overcast with quite a breeze.
-
It's a lovely sunny morning, but that Northerly wind is really making it feel cool enough for a jumper - unless you are in the greenhouse ::)
-
Lovely out there - sun shining down from a blue sky with little breeze to cool things. Perfick!
-
Lovely out there - sun shining down from a blue sky with little breeze to cool things. Perfick!
Much the same here :)
-
Like Mum, lovely sun, but that strong wind does spoil it a little. Everything is just drying out so quickly.
-
Hot and dry.
We are forecast to have no real chance of rain until at least this coming Saturday. The high on Wednesday is forecast to be 103 F (39 C).
-

Arghhhh! We melt at 30ºC

We might see daytime highs as low as 30 C sometime in August or September.
The good news is that we've had several days topping 35 to 37 C, and my rhubarb continues to grow!
-
Sunny again this morning 17C, so far - but we still have the cool Northerly breeze. That's weird for this time of year
-
It's lovely out there - sunny, calm, dry and around 20ºC PERFICK!
-
Beautiful :D
-
It's hot here today.
It didn't reach the predicted 103 F, but it did get to 102 F (39 C). It's still very dry to go with the heat. Mrs. Subversive took a video clip of me this afternoon, walking down the driveway to the mailbox:

-
Very warm & quite muggy this afternoon.
-
Lovely hot summer's day here - but they reckon we may get a little rain late afternoon. Yesterday we nipped down to the beach late afternoon as the breeze made the sunshine bearable.
-
It's bright, sunny , a little too hot, mill pond still and I can't stop sneezing. Despite this I see we are forecast the usual British Summer time weather for the next 10 days.
-
Very grey and humid. We have had a few odd bits of rain, but we also have a warning for torrential rain/hail/thunder/lightening … sigh
It does feels like we could have a storm  It would be nice to get it over with though ::)

Snap!!
-
Too hot to garden. Too hot to be outside. But if you like to sit out and be a roast potato a nice day.
-
We're having a little cold snap today, high only expected to reach 36 C. I'll take it, especially since we might actually get a little rain following the peak temperature of the day. :D
Rain chances gradually increasing into Saturday, I'll know it's true when I actually see the rain falling!
-
Well after the cloudy/humid start the sky cleared and we've had lovely sunshine all afternoon. I even got the grass cut.
Perhaps we'll get a storm overnight, but no sign of one on the weather radar, so far...
-
Horribly muggy, dark and grey with misty drizzle and absolutely still, making it very unpleasant indoors. We could do with a storm to clear the air and freshen things up.
-
Storm from Yellow alert weather warning never arrived, nor any rain, so far. Only 5% chance now, on the forecast, even though It's humid and cloudy.
Think I'll go and water the allotment later this afternoon, if it stays the same ::)
-
A little rain overnight - couple of mil at best. Much cooler but not bad at around 17ºC. Grey skies, little breeze. More rain due today.
-
Overcast but warm, 33 C. As hot as it has been recently, we have seen no rain since June 9, and our predicted rain chances for the next week are beginning to evaporate (but not zero yet).
-
Very heavy rain for 20 minutes last night and it's much fresher this morning. Sunny with patchy cloud and a stiff breeze keeping everything moving, I'd be happy if it stayed like this.
-
Lots of fluffy clouds scudding across the blue sky - cool 13ºC Met Office reckons rain possible, they may as well say 'Your guess is as good as mine' which makes you wonder what they do on those super computers all day.
-
Currently 32⁰c with not a cloud in the sky.. though I have to admit I'm currently in Lindos, Rhodes :D
-

I've been saying this for years, and we're supposed to believe their climate predictions for far in the future????
When I opened the curtains it was brilliant sunshine, now it's cloudy and with that strong breeze it seems it's about April out there
-
Yep, it is April here as well. OK sitting in the g/house.
-
Just been for a walk down to the beach lovely in the sun the winds got a bit of a nip in it. :)
-
We had a nice enough day until late this afternoon when the cloud that had been on and off all day took over. It got pretty blowy for a time and the wind had a cold edge to it. Eventually around teatime we had a bout of rain.
-
After spending ages this afternoon with umpteen cans to water everything that looked sad on the plot, it has now decided to rain ::) Just typical ::)
-
Yesterday we had a mix of sunshine, rain and hail. I mean a mix - it was bright sunshine making the polytunnel hotter than Georgia whilst I couldn't listen to the radio on headphones for the pounding rain on the tunnel!
Today is cold @ 10ºC, raining and breezy. Ahh, the Welsh summer is here!
-
Spent most of yesterday putting washing on the line and then bringing it back in again. ::) Today is very breezy with sunny spells, so far the rain has held off. It's warm out of the wind but on the chilly side in it.
-
Today is very breezy with sunny spells, so far the rain has held off. It's warm out of the wind but on the chilly side in it.
It's the same here ::)
-
Got back yesterday from a week away in Herefordshire expecting to spend the afternoon watering the garden after what looked to have been a very dry week here.
It had been, but for once, a few of the many showers around actually graced my garden with their presence - not a lot in total but very welcome just the same.
Today is bright, breezy and pleasantly warm out of the wind (19C)
-
Muggy - and alternating between drizzle and heavy showers. Windows are open to let the fresh air in but the jumper is on to keep the cold away
-
We have another Spring morning with sun and scudding clouds, but forecast is for heavy showers by lunchtime.
I'd better get a shift on and water in the greenhouses, then ::)
-
Bit of a cool start, especially in the breeze but it's supposed to improve as the day goes on.
-
Today is grey, cold (14ºC) and very windy. It's supposed to be heavy rain all day but so far it's dry and it looks like the heavy rain may miss us.
-
Mild 16c, grey and breezy. Light rain forecast for later - Meh.
-
‘Twas Sunny before I got up, then grey, quite chilly, just had a heavy shower, still chilly, shame as were on holiday, so just got Ray Mears to light the open fire & I think that’s us for the afternoon
-
Quite bright but if only we could get rid of that wind/breeze!
-
Steady rain overnight - enough to leave puddles. Bright first thing but grey and heavy showers since leaving it muggy.
-
We have thin cloud, now and again there's some hazy sunshine, but as is usual lately, the wind is making it feel cooler than the thermometer says it is :(
Not a day for sitting outside with my coffee, I sat in the greenhouse instead ::)
-
Wet & chilly start but it's brightening up now. Bit breezy but at least it's stopped raining.
-
Rain overnight and then a bright morning , still can't get rid of that breeze which lowers the temperature.
-
Looks like a showery, cool day but calm.
-
No sunshine here today and struggling with the temperatures. The wind is still blowing and it makes it exhausting to try and go out in the garden. I might sit in the g/house later and make mental garden plans !! But Tesco first.
-
Heavy rain in the small hours, grey, chilly and miserable since then. A windows shut day, let alone leave the door open for the cat and she is not amused ::)
-
Steady rain overnight. On the cooler side this morning 12c, grey and still but doesn't feel particularly fresh.
-
15c, grey and drizzle. Feels fresher but definitely an indoors day.
-
After 4 weeks without meaningful rainfall, finally got 0.6 inches of rain. Can we have 10 more of those please?
Humid, sunny and 28 C this morning, we will take it!
-
15c, grey and drizzle. Feels fresher but definitely an indoors day.
It was like that here, until the sun came out about an hour ago :)
-
It's better here this morning too.
Cool out of the sun at 12c but it's fresher, the sun is out and there are a few high clouds and a gentle breeze.
-
Not too bad, bit damp first thing but dried out now. Grey skies, cool 12ºC and little breeze. Supposed to warm up and get sunny later.
-
Here, it's a breezy 16C with blue skies and a few high clouds. Forecast is for more cloud and a few showers later.
-
Glorious sunshine now we’ve cut our holiday short & are back home
-
Mild and dry but grey and overcast.
-
Sunny on waking but by the time I surfaced the clouds had drifted in, bit of a chilly breeze & keeps getting quite dark, but no rain forecast
-
Lots of cloud about. The wind which has been blowing via Rockall, Finisterre and German Bight and all points in the shipping forcast has changed and is now just blowing from the North. I always expect windy weather here on top of the South Downs, but it really has been beyond a joke. What hasn't died from lack of water has died from the winds. What a challenge.
-
Here, we have high cloud and some sunny spells, but yes, MrsB, we have that Northerly wind back again.
It's quite strong this morning, a good day for drying the washing - but it's certainly not T-shirt weather. ::)
-
Grey, overcast and horribly muggy all day and it's got considerably worse within the last hour.
-
Yep windy & cloudy here all day, did have some patches of sun. Pollen count is high this evening though, my eyes are itchy.
-
It has been quite warm here today and a mix of sun and cloud. It looked like it would pour this afternoon, but nothing came of that. It was a bit breezy on and off at times, but really quite windy now. You can hear the shrubs and trees outside being bashed about by it.
-
Very fine drizzle this morning and a pretty strong breeze. Still muggy and grey though.
-
According to MetO it's sunny and 19C.
It's not ::) It's actually 17C grey and windy, gusting from the North again.
Remind me how much we pay for them? ....
-
Pulled the curtains on blue sky and sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, supposed to be a hot 1 today 8)
What little breeze there is, is from the West, so looking good :)
-
Grey and muggy first thing, but it quickly cleared. The suns out and there's a gentle breeze although still not fresh. it's supposed to be the start of a heat wave.
-
No blue sky just light and a few dark clouds. Wind from the north. Mrs B
-
No blue sky just light and a few dark clouds. Wind from the north. Mrs B
Same here Mrs B, so far, it's nothing like what was forecast, is it? ::)
-
Clear blue sky and 22C at the moment - there is a bit of a breeze which is very welcome (if you're in it!)
-
It's a cool 25 C today, with rain. We seem to have broken our three months of dry weather, with a stubborn high pressure system moving out, rain earlier this week, again yesterday, and 2.25 inches expected today. Everything in the lawn and garden looks happier.
-
I hope it cheered up for those looking at clouds earlier and wondering where the sun was.
We have had a scorcher again. There was some cloud this morning, but it burned off pretty fast.
-
A lovely sunny start to the day - all doors and windows open for now 8)
Probably a good job I watered the allotment and the garden veg bed in the evening. Just the greenhouses to do this morning, before it gets too hot.
-
It's scrongingly hot here, and I've got an ultra-annoying spoke rattle on my bike which I can't trace!
Life just gets more and more tedious don't it! If it wasn't for this cooling glass of beer at my elbow, I'd probably have to go a lie down in a darkened room...
-
It's a lovely day! Hot in the sun, warm in the shade. :)
-
Glorious - glad I am watching tennis, not playing.
-
Wall to wall sunshine here with expected high of 29c today & 30c tomorrow
-
Seriously hot here in Hampshire already 27 degrees Celsius (80 F).
Pleased that I watered the plot at 7 am today looks like I will have to do that all week.
I know you aren’t supposed to water every day but it’s not meant to be a heatwave either. Stay cool!
-
A lovely sunny start to the day - all doors and windows open for now 8)
and repeat, still a bit hazy, but getting there 8)
-
They reckon 24ºC peak here but it's already feeling warmer than that in the sunshine! Parasol, book and drink day :D
-
A bit too hot but there's had been a decent breeze keeping things fresh until yesterday afternoon. It's now very still and the temperature is creeping up.
-
No clouds, lovely blue sky, a slight breeze and very hot - I love it !
-
Clouded over a little at lunchtime, but still reached 29.6C - in my bedroom it's currently 30.3C despite my best efforts at closing curtains and blinds (there must be a point where opening windows lets heat in rather than out of the house, and it looks like I've reached it today!)
-
We hit 30ºC under the shade of the parasol on the patio late afternoon. It was 21ºC in the house. The polytunnel peaked at 42ºC - I should have put the misters on but that involved walking up to it and connecting them to the hose. Far too much effort!
-
Cloudy and grey but very warm.
It's still 26c in the house even with everything being opened up at 6am to try and get some fresh air in. A very unpleasant night and I'm not impressed with the weekend forecast of 36c either.
-
Two reasons to open the windows here - the heat and I also burnt the toast...
But the good news is that I've found the spoke-rattle on my bike, and can peacefully go where nobody has peacefully gone before! (They all needed tightening, and in fact, the wheel is straighter than it's ever been, so all is just fine)!
-
It's quite cloudy this morning and 22C, so not quite Scorchio 8)
I'll still need to water in the greenhouse. though..
-
... and in fact, the wheel is straighter than it's ever been, so all is just fine)!
There's your problem! Wheels on the bike should be round and round :D
I thought I'd have an early night and get out early this morning to sort out in the polytunnel before it gets too hot. So Gandalf the Stray came in and had fights with our resident cats @ 2am and 4am. Thanks :(
Now it's drizzling and they're predicting proper rain at lunchtime....
-
It ended up cloudy and very muggy all day yesterday with occasional large rain drops but not even enough to wet the pavement.
It's fresher so far this morning, 14c , bright and with a good breeze.
-
Yesterday was weird with frequent very light rain but warm all the same. - Looks like it's going to be a lovely day today though.
-
It's cloudy this morning and although it's 20C, that feels cool, after the last few days 8)
-
This morning was cloudy and a bit cool on the arms but now it's hot. God help GG when it hits over 30C next week as I'll have to shed all my feathers and that won't be a pretty sight I can tell you!
-
So Gandalf the Stray came in and had fights with our resident cats @ 2am and 4am. Thanks :(
Best male cat name EVER . . .
A friend of mine once had 2 cats, a female named Queen Elizabeth Taylor the First, the other was a male cat named Thud. Both names appropriate for those cats!
Just to stay on topic, 28 C here at noon, overcast. I'm about to push the self-propelled lawn mower around the yard to get the grass cut. (The mower is self-propelled because I propel it myself).
-
Lovely day - hit the heights of 27C this afternoon, but with a slight breeze :)
-
Lovely day - hit the heights of 27C this afternoon, but with a slight breeze :)
Snap 8)
-
Got a couple of hours in this morning but the afternoon was spent being dormant on the patio under the parasol. Don't know what the mercury rose to but inside the house was a cool 19.5ºC. :)
There are some benefits from cold stone buildings although the heat will come through the walls in a week or so!
-
It's a lovely morning 8) 20C with a slight breeze taking the edge off the heat.
Not Scorchio yet :D
-
Warm, dull, humid and not a breath of wind
-
Also warm, dull and humid but with a warm wind to go with it.
-
Sunshine, clouds, breeze, 31 degrees
-
Warm, sunny and very pleasant until the afternoon when the heat arrived. Val soaked it up on the patio whilst I found jobs in the 20.5ºC house to do :D
-
It's warming up out there - due to peak around 30ºC here this afternoon. That's very hot for us but not that bad. Hope those in the really hot areas of the country will be OK.
-
It's a lovely sunny day, 24C. The doors and windows open, to let in the slight breeze we have :)
Not Scorchio yet ;)
-
A sticky, unpleasant night. We at least have some sunshine at the moment making up for yesterday. It's currently 21c (25c inside) I'll be closing everything up when it hits cross over to keep the heat out not that there's any air movement out there today anyway.
-
Outside under the shade of the parasol on the base it just hit 35.6 c hubby brought the thermometer in & took it upside & said it dropped by 10 c in our bedroom, the blinds & windows have all been shut since this morning on the back & the front since midday. Supposed to be hotter by 1c tomorrow the forecast said earlier
-
34.5C outside in the shade just now, 27C indoors with all the windows and curtains closed. I’m only popping out to check that the Cucumber, Peppers, French Beans etc have enough water.
It’s set to be hotter tomorrow.
-
Another new record for Sheffield today (35.9.C)
Close to 40C forecast for tomorrow (I'd love to try to get some sympathy from my siblings, but unfortunately I have a brother who lives in Nantes who is experiencing 40+ for at least the second time this year. :tongue2:)
-
Currently pleasant and 27 C with sunshine at 6:00 PM.
-
Currently pleasant and 27 C with sunshine at 6:00 PM.
Not much different here at 6pm. I kept the polytunnel temp down with the misters and used the mist setting on the watering wand to keep the greenhouses reasonable. It's amazing how effective the mist system is.
-
A very unpleasant sticky night the indoor temperature didn't drop below 28c. Hazy sunshine at the moment and already 28c outside, there's a bit of a breeze but it's also warm so no help. We have a max of 38c forecast around lunchtime. I'm going to have to hose down the south facing sunken patio or Max will burn his paws, I was hit by a wall of heat when I opened the back door this morning.
-
Same as Lardman. Am only going out to peg some washing out.
-
It's near 30 outside but only 22 in the house - misters keeping the polytunnel down to around 25 / 28 :) Everything watered and more beans picked by 8.30am
Possibly rain and the temp plummeting to mid 20s around lunchtime, which is fine by me.
-
'Officially' 33.2C outside, 31.2C upstairs indoors (slightly cooler downstairs, but not by much.)
(Went to bed at 2230 last night - it was still 29C outdoors, and 31C in my bedroom.)
Tomorrow can't come soon enough...
-
35C out, 26C in at the moment.
No plans to do much today other than mist my clothes with water.
-
A very hot & sunny day here too, just come back before midday down the M69 & my car thermometer was saying 38.5c. Patio in the shade now says 39.1c
-
39.4C in the shade and 27.2C indoors, here.
Thank goodness it’s going to be cooler tomorrow.
-
We hit 40.1C at 3:15 pm.
-
We've just had a five minute shower, more mizzle than rain. More forecast for 9pm.
-
40 degrees at 4pm; at least 29 degrees inside. Hard to concentrate at work!!
-
Some bright spark of a forecaster predicted thunder storms for tomorrow, as if it was something new ::)
They always end that way, matey ::)
-
It's now got very breezy and we've had two rumbles of thunder and then a torrential downpour.
-
It's now got very breezy and we've had two rumbles of thunder and then a torrential downpour.
We’ve got that as well now. Temperature has dropped outside and odd distant rumbles of thunder. So far we have just had steady rain, but it feels like a storm coming. Quite dark out as well. It has been for a couple of hours now as the cloud cover has thickened and turned from white to grey.
-
Steady gentle rain here for the 15mins, or so - now lightning in the distance, as well. I wondered why it was getting dark early
-
That's enough now. I felt decidedly unwell most of yesterday, given the temperature didn't and still hasn't dropped below 28c in the house it's no surprise.
Grey and cloudy this morning, no sign of the promised rain and it's a still as a duck pond out there. It's supposed to be 17c but feels warmer to me.
-
22C outside with a slight NW breeze, no rain in sight but the chance of a shower later (hope they're right.)
Temperature upstairs indoors has just dropped below 30C, having been 35C when I went to bed last night, and still 32C at 0230 when I woke up. :nowink:
-
Grey skies, little breeze and running around 15ºC at the moment, due to rise to 17ºC. Dry. In the house it's now 22 to 24ºC as the heat percolates through the stone walls.
-
It's a lot cooler here at 23C, after the overnight storms. Hazy sunshine now with a stiff breeze, which is really making it feel 'fresh'
-
The storms skirted round us and the sky cleared again late on.
A lot fresher this morning and a nice breeze.
Yesterday you could feel the wind was bringing the heat during the day as it sucked that overheated air up from Europe. Horrible :(
-
A pleasant 25 °C, overcast, raining lightly (we still need it). All in all, no complaints :).
-
Our forecast was still fairly hot, dry and odd chance of a thundery shower.
I’m glad to say that was completely wrong. We have had cloud building all day, rain on and off since about 5pm and now settled into steady gentle rain :)
-
No sign of the promised rain here not even a bit of drizzle, things are looking very crispy. There's a good breeze this morning making it feel fresher outside at least (it' still an oppressive 26c indoors). Low grey cloudy and a much nicer 14c, I'm tempted to put washing load on to temp fate :nowink: .
-
There's no sun here, either, we have high cloud and 18C, plus it is quite breezy from the NE. It's a refreshing change after the heat of the last few days.
Even Mollycat has ventured out for a morning wander :D
-
We look to be having a re-run of yesterday. It was sunny earlier, now getting increasingly cloudy and breeze picking up.
It is pleasant enough out, but I reckon we have more rain on its way.
-
Sunny, 19C with a gentle breeze. Still no sign of rain which is a fire-risk worry as the grass in my field is chest-high and very dry
-
Considerably different to the last few days, at least 10 Deb cooler of not more, a lovely breeze, & we’ve had a light drizzle for some of the day :)
-
Today we have 19C, high cloud with no sign of the sun, and quite a brisk breeze from the North East..
-
Stuffy overnight - with occasional drizzle. Cloudy an grey with a stiff breeze so far with an outside temperature of 14c. Despite everything being opened up the house is still 25c, might take a few more days for things to cool down.
-
18C, gentle breeze, light cloud and Hallelujah, heavy overnight rain
-
Very grey and overcast this morning, but lighter now. Just had rain for - oh, 30 mins !! No wind blowing up here (very unusual). Feeling humid.
-
Bit grey and rain on and off yesterday. So far today is very good. Sunshine, blue sky and pleasantly warm :)
-
We've got patchy cloud with a few sunny spells, 19C so far.
-
Misty drizzle this morning and 17c, feels very muggy. We've had enough rain over the last couple of days for the grass to green up though so everything is less brown.
-
It's sunny, breezy and 22C here, with few high patchy clouds.
I hate to say it, but we really could do with some rain ::)
-
Windy, overcast, warm though but humid, few spots of rain but nothing that is worth covering up from :(
-
A warm sunny day here, but there is quite a breeze blowing.
-
A grey, damp day with occasional drizzle and breezy. Cool at 15ºC
-
Grey and windy. No rain or drizzle yet but it's still oppressively muggy. Nice weather for weeds.
-
Grey and windy. No rain or drizzle yet but it's still oppressively muggy. Nice weather for weeds.
Snap!!
-
Hubby said we had a good downpour last night when he came to bed, but I was zzzzzing already. ‘‘Twas dry this morning & a tad chilly, overcast & windy still. But once I got to the plot & in the tunnel to side shoot the tomatoes the sun came out & I was soon sweltered
-
Cool, breezy, partly cloudy and intermittent light showers, the latter every time I take the dog out
-
Cool, breezy, partly cloudy and intermittent light showers, the latter every time I take the dog out
Always the way ::) :lol:
-
It's a grey day, and breezy as well. 15C and we had a little rain in the early hours, the path is still damp.
More showers in today's forecast. So at least I won't have to water the plot :) just the greenhouses..
-
Very cool at 14ºC, little breeze and very dull - but supposed to stay dry. I wouldn't bet on it.
-
Very cool at 14ºC, little breeze and very dull - but supposed to stay dry. I wouldn't bet on it.
About the same here, although 13C it's still feels muggy.
-
Bit of a nip in the air this morning at 8c. Mainly hazy sunshine and very still, it has the feeling of a hot day but the forecast is for more low grey cloud and late rain.
-
It's a grey day.... 15C and we had a little rain in the early hours, the path is still damp.
Much the same this morning..
-
Overcast but quite pleasant at around 20ºC and little breeze.
-
Grey, grey and more grey. It clouded over around lunch yesterday and was effectively twilight by 5pm. This morning it's still grey, muggy and still, the promised rain keeps getting move on a day and things are looking crispy again.
-
More grey here, and it's dead calm. 18C.... there's that 'calm before the storm' feeling, but no rain/storm in the forecast
-
This morning it's still grey, muggy and still, the promised rain keeps getting move on a day and things are looking crispy again.
Same again - rain has also now been moved on to Sunday.
-
Calm, light overcast sky and nice at about 18ºC out there :)
-
It's sunny and there's some high cloud, now and again :) Breeze is from the North again, though - so hope it doesn't get any stronger ::)
-
Sunny spells, warm but pleasantly so and after a couple of nights of evernight rain, my lawns are nice and green again
-
This morning it's still grey, muggy and still, the promised rain keeps getting move on a day and things are looking crispy again.
Same again. We really do need some rain about now, even the mole hills are looking dust dry.
-
Hot, sticky and no chance of rain.
-
Light rain, grey sky, cool 16ºC, gentle breeze. :D
-
High cloud and 21C, here, no rain in the forecast for the next few days. The garden is getting crispy, including the hydrangeas, so I must, at least, water those ::)
-
12 hours of rain forecast here 11pm to 11am , Yippee :)
-
12 hours of rain forecast here 11pm to 11am , Yippee :)
Lucky you, we could really do with some!
Here it's mostly grey sky, with the odd brief blue gap, and quite breezy from the West.
With a less than 10% chance of rain according to the forecast. :(
-
Some rain overnight and a damp start to today. Cool (15ºC), bit of breeze and solid grey sky. Supposed to cheer up and get sunny late afternoon.
-
Drizzling with intermittent rain.
-
Currently 21C with humidity of 90%, so despite a slight breeze it's a bit uncomfortable outside if you're doing anything (I'm not!)
5mm of rain overnight - not a lot but it should keep the hosepipe lying dormant for a few days... :)
-
We had enough rain to leave a puddle in the road overnight but it was gone very quickly. The rest of the day has been much the same as the rest of them lately - grey and very muggy. There's a bit of a breeze but even that's warm.
-
It's grey and 20C with no air movement at all. Weird weather....
-
A change ! It's actually sunny today  It's a nice mild 16c with hazy blue skies but there's no breeze.
-
Grey sky and18C with breeze gusting at18mph.
-
It turned cloudy and muggy yesterday around lunch :(
We had a little drizzle over night but we're back to being grey and muggy this morning even with a significant breeze. It's 18c outside but still 24c in the house with everything open.
-
A very wet morning (10mm), and now 21C with 90% humidity which feels very unpleasant, although I'm sure the weeds will be loving it! :nowink:
-
Still grey and muggy, 18c and perfectly still again.
Yesterday was horrible I had 3 showers and still felt like I'd been dipped in grease.

Grey sky and18C with breeze gusting at18mph.
We've lost the grey cloud, so it's warmer @ 21C - but the breeze has strengthened a little to 20mph ::)
-
Yesterday was fog and drizzle, not at all nice. Today is patches of blue and sunshine. Around 20ºC but quite breezy. Forecast reckons we've some nice weather ahead :)
-
We had hot humid heat yesterday and a fair bit of sunshine. Today is very grey skies and a breezy cool feeling wind.
It is quite nice after yesterday :)
-
Today it's warm @ 19C with strong sunshine - but the temp is being held down by a strong northerly breeze, gusting at 20mph.
So quite nice in the garden, protected by the hedge, but it'll be blowy on the allotments, up the hill ::)
-

Pretty much the same here far less oppressively muggy than of late.
-
Cloudy, sunny, cloudy - some spits, bit of breeze and cool 15ºC - looks like a nice weekend coming up, though.
-
Cool (16C) bright and breezy, although we did have a sharp shower around 0700 (before those in the S and SE start 'harrumphing', it was a mere 0.4mm! ::))
-
No rain shortage here. Just washed my bedding, hung it out and it started again, despite the forecast of a dry afternoon. Thank God for tumble-driers
-
but the temp is being held down by a strong northerly breeze, gusting at 20mph.
So quite nice in the garden, protected by the hedge, but it'll be blowy on the allotments, up the hill ::)
Same breeze means it's only 15C, this morning, despite the brilliant sunshine 8)
-
Looks lovely with sun from a blue sky, feels OK with little breeze - so for those reasons, I'm out! :)
-
Mild 17c , even a bit chilly first thing (7c) but sunny with a gentle breeze. Duvet is back out on the line after I optimistically washed it yesterday thinking it would be dry by the evening.
-
Clear blue sky, sunny but cool at the moment. Quite a heavy dew on the cars.
It's going to be another warm, dry day. Hosepipe ban starts Friday 19th.
-
Another lovely, sunny start to the day, with very little breeze, It's 20C already 8)
-
Another lovely, sunny start to the day, with very little breeze, It's 20C already 8)
Basically the same here! :D
-
Yep very sunny & very warm here again, heading for 30c in the week again.
-
Blue skies, sunny and warm 19c but not overly so. I would be nice if it stayed like this. Things started to get a little too warm to get anything done yesterday afternoon.
-
Sunny this morning with a gentle cool breeze but now it's hotting up.
-
Sunny and warm with the 'strong breeze' from the North again, gusting up to 21mph ::)
I see we have Amber warnings for Extreme Heat from the MetO for 4 days starting on Thursday 8)
Since when did 28'/29' become extreme heat?
-

There's a joke in there about snowflakes
-
Rather nice day today, hot and sunny. Took to the shade of the parasol about 3pm until 6pm when things started cooling. We're really not used to the heat anymore with no holidays in the sun for too long.
-
Woke up to a heavy dew, some cardboard boxes I'd hoiked out of the shed to take to the plots are now sodden - so that's a bit of a nuisance.
It's a bright sunny morning though, and the breeze has dropped a bit, so feeling lovely so far 8)
-
Rather nice - Met Office predict 23ºC but it seems to be 25ºC already out there!
-
We're creeping around the "too hot to do anything" mark but still below the "far too hot" point. It clouded over yesterday afternoon which made things a little stuffy but it's blue skies and no breeze again so far today with uncomfortable temperatures forecast. I see rain and plenty of is on the way for next week. Anyone had the flood alert yet?
-
It's jolly hot out there , please rain and cool it off
-
Clear blue skies, warm and still. Has the makings of a very hot day. Very warm overnight having been up since 4am I'm knackered already.
-
A sticky night here as well ::)
It's 25C already here, with only a slight breeze atm, forecast says it will get stronger - hope they're right this time :D
I must remember to water the greenhouses well (last use of hosepipe today) and fill up a spare tub in each as well ;)
-
Hot and airless. Watered about 5.30, will water again about 11.30pm before the hose pipe ban comes in.
-
Following a hot sticky night, very hot & Sunny here, too warm for me by 9a.m, retreated to the shade of indoors with all doors & windows shut, blinds drawn on the sunny side of the house
-
To To hot staying indoors now :)
-
31.4C now, and still on a rising trend according to the local weather station.
Just about the same upstairs indoors even with all windows, curtains and blinds closed - am really not looking forward to bedtime tonight! :nowink:
-
I've done the opposite of most of you.... front and back doors both open for the through draft, which means it is only 24C inside 8) I know I'm lucky living on an out of the way terrace, with very few people using the footpath. From where I'm sitting I can see anybody that walks past....
-
It's actually quite pleasant today. Temperature 26 C (though the heat index is more like 33 C). It is overcast and still, we had a brief sprinkle earlier, but nothing to fuss about.
-
I’ve had windows shut and curtains drawn all day. I have thermal blackout curtains in most rooms, which are also very good at keeping heat out from hot window panes, but the kitchen and dining room windows face south and don’t have them. I have a makeshift solution of some debris netting fixed up over them outside and that really helps.
Now back door and upstairs windows are open to get the air moving through the house. It is 27 degrees C inside now, but got it down to 24 last night. A hot water bottle kept in the fridge all day can assist sleeping if your bedroom is very hot.
-
A repeat of yesterday so far - clear blue skies and very still, so I expect it's going to get hot again. It's been a pretty constant 27c indoors despite my best efforts. There's little point in opening windows here as there's no breeze at all but I'm still following the shade.
I noticed that a number of houses on the main road have stuck foil to the inside of their windows to reflect the sun - not nice for drivers who are likely to get dazzled by the reflections  .
-
A sticky night here as well ::)
It's 19C already here, with a pleasant cool breeze. Front and back doors open, as before 8)
Forecast is for ..
-
I suppose it's all relative as it feels too hot already - outside 25º and inside just over 20ºC - glad we're not in the south-east heading up the 30s!
Very still, very sunny, very dry.
-
31.4C now, and still on a rising trend according to the local weather station.
Just about the same upstairs indoors even with all windows, curtains and blinds closed - am really not looking forward to bedtime tonight! :nowink:
Groundhog day - almost to the exact decimal place (inside and out. :()
-
Very hot here inside & out. Here’s a screenshot from my new thermometer for today. The drop is from when I brought the thermometer back inside.
It did reach 38.4c but it had ended up in the sun
-
Another mild day here today. We had a good, useful rain after walking the dog this morning. I had a little office work and a virtual meeting during the rain, both productive.
Now it's early afternoon, sunny and a pleasant 28 C. Good weather for potting on some cucumber and summer squash seedlings I'm going to try growing through the fall. I'm still looking for a planting scheme to get some summer squash and cucumber production without damage from squash vine borers and pickle worms! ::)
-
It maxed out at 28C here, mainly because we kept the strong breeze all day, so not too bad 8)
-
Heavy dew, clear blue sky and comfortable for walking the dog.
Hit 30 degrees yesterday but also very humid am expecting the same today.
-
A very sticky an unpleasant night, I can't get the house below 27c.
It's sunny and warm so far and outside a comfortable 16c, everything is wide open trying to cool the house but there's no breeze at all again and the rain forecast is getting less and further away each time I check.
-
I woke late after a restless night, tied up by the sheet ::) (For clarity, it may sound like fun, but I was alone :nowink:)
Now, suitably showered, I'm cool and it's not too hot outside at 23C. There is a breeze, so that helps - doors and windows open, for the through draft, as usual...
-
24.4C outside and 'rising rapidly'; 27C inside - nearly time to shut the windows.
How I'll miss this routine in a few day's time!
-
It was hot at 6am and by 11am getting too hot to stay out. Reminded me of Barcelona - early starts, stop around 11 am, very lazy long lunch and a doze until around 5pm when another couple of hours could be grabbed.
-
In Greece everything (except the tourist trade) is closed between 3 and 5pm. 8)
However, traditionally, you wouldn't expect your evening meal before 9pm, so it meant going to bed later than we are used to, otherwise you'd get indigestion ::) I know I always struggled to sleep after eating with local friends...
It seems that sorting out one problem, simply gives you another......
-
I've had enough of it now after another night where the bedroom temperature was, and still is above 28c. Outside is nice - 17c, blue skies and sunny but it's absolutely mill pond still and we're forecast another 30c+ day, hopefully the last.
I don't know about anyone else but I'll be glad when it breaks if only so I can get some sleep.
-
Here, there's high hazy cloud and 23C, so it feels lovely right now.
We still have a slight breeze from the East, and that blows in through the open back door, keeping the house cooler :)
-

I remember heading out for dinner at 11pm in Barcelona! Having spent most of my working life working late, we tend to eat our evening meal at 8.30 / 9.00 usually. With this weather I'm pretty dormant in the afternoon.. siesta time!
Hot and sunny - the polytunnel was 18ºC at 7.00am and broached 30ºC despite the doors being open at 9.00am. Turned the misters on.
Threatening a bit of rain at 6.00am tomorrow... now we've got the big shed empty for repairs :(
-
Enjoy it. We will all be moaning soon about the rain and cold and our heating bills !!! Mrs Bouquet
-
It is already changing here. This lunchtime it was the usual blazing sun and heat, but it has been clouding over and getting a bit more breezy all afternoon.
It is supposed to be 30 degrees out there at the moment, but it doesn’t feel like it. It is still warm, but I have already opened up the windows and the back door to let the breeze in. The house is sitting at 27/28 depending on which room you are in, but that is now falling.
-
About 5pm it changed, some cloud and the temperature dropped to tolerable, then to pleasant. Currently 19ºC which actually feels a bit chilly! The Met Office is threatening rain but I'll believe it when I see it.
Edit: 8:00am I'm now a believer! We have light rain :D Not a lot but something is better than nothing.
-
We've got grey skies and 21C, it certainly feels cooler!
It feels oppressive like a storm is on the way, but all the weather charts show the storms passing to the North of us. Fingers crossed we get one to clear the air, let alone give the garden some water before everything dies :(
-
Still 28c inside with everything open. :(
Grey this morning and 19c although it still feels very muggy, there looks to be a bit of a breeze but the heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast have now become showers of just a few mm. We need a good downpour to take the heat out of everything.
-
Still 28c inside with everything open. :(
Snap! 23C and 70% humidity outside at the moment.
Yellow warning for thunderstorms, but next to nothing heading this way on the rain radar at the moment.
Despite many such warnings this year, we very rarely get thunderstorms here.
FATE - CONSIDER YOURSELF WELL AND TRULY TEMPTED! ;)
-
16 degrees and it's raining in not so sunny Glasgow. Thankfully it's not battering down but it's pretty constant and will do a great job of soaking the ground. The weed seeds will have been lying in wait for today though. Garden will be a jungle by the end of the week!
-
FATE - CONSIDER YOURSELF WELL AND TRULY TEMPTED! ;)
I just tempted them by cutting the front lawn - sure enough if started to spot but stopped as soon as I turned the mower off. ::)
-
Delightfully cool and fresh after heavy overnight rain. If I listen carefully I can hear the plants sighing with relief
-
Still a warm 28 deg C (reverse the numbers 82 in F)
Cut front lawn in anticipation of rain :D
Promise of thunder storms 5 till 7 now disappeared!!
Perhaps get something overnight if we are lucky.
-
We had no rain until late evening and that wasn't even enough to wet the pavements. :( Todays rain has also been moved to this evening and dramatically reduced.
It's cooler at 14c, grey. muggy and very still again, we really did need a thunderstorm to clear the air. Despite all the upstairs windows being open all night it's still 27c. I'm done with summer can we move on to winter now please.
-
No, no, no to Winter, thanks very much :tongue2:
I'd much prefer just a normal summer, you know, enough rain to moan about and reasonably warm now and again :D
According to the rain radar charts, it looks like one such day is on the cards...
It's grey and 17C this morning, and a very gentle breeze is moving the darker clouds towards us..
It's 12.25 and we just had another brief shower :)
-
We have rain yipeee but it's still very muggy :D
-
Rain rain rain!
So the end of the 21 day dry spell.
Only light showers, but great to see :)
A day off from watering outside.
-
Grey and 18 degrees. Claims it’s raining but only very light drizzle so far.
We need a proper soaking to perk up veg on the plot. Good luck all keep dancing (rain dance that is!)
-
Yes, we just had a sprinkle that lasted all of 10 minutes - not nearly enough to make any difference :(
I'm still hoping for more....
** We also had about 30 minutes worth halfway through the afternoon.
-
FATE - CONSIDER YOURSELF WELL AND TRULY TEMPTED! ;)
I just tempted them by cutting the front lawn - sure enough if started to spot but stopped as soon as I turned the mower off. ::)
Peg your washing on the line. If that ain't tempting fate nothing is!
-
Little shower in the early morning, now damp, grey and quite cool at 15ºC with gentle breeze.
-
Fantastic downpour this afternoon
Hopefully we are forecast more overnight and tomorrow.
Never thought I would wish for more rain the summer but this summer was worse than 1976.
-
We had lots of rain and thunderthis morning both water butts are full :D
-
Our rain showed up around 9. Nothing spectacular, no puddles this morning but everything looks like it's had a good soaking overnight. Temperatures outside is 13c, it's grey with a bit of drizzle and finally there's some air movement, inside is still 25c it's going to take some time to cool everything down.
-
Heavy rain for 3 hours yesterday evening - 2 whole inches in total! :) :)
Won't do much for the overall water shortage on its own but it will certainly help revive a few struggling plants in my garden.
Grey, breezy and only 13C at the moment, but I'm not complaining. ;)
-
Yesterday we had on and off drizzle all day in the end. Today is cool and cloudy but at least it's dry so we can carry on with re-staining the sheds. Not too bad at 17ºC :)
-
This morning we have high cloud and it's 19C with a fair breeze. We have thunderstorm warnings which coincide with my long awaited Drs appointment, just what I needed NOT!! Will it be on the way there, or on the way back? Pfft..
I know the garden needs a good soaking, but I really don't
-
We have had rain. Some this morning for about 30 minutes but this afternoon we had the same again, not enough but a very pleasant surprise.
-
We've got thunder and can see the lightning over the sea towards Sussex where they said it would come from. Dark enough to need the big light on, now waiting for the rain. Had some this morning for about an hour but not very hard.
-

I manged to get there before the rain started, but had to make a dash to the bus shelter afterwards, thunder, lightning and torrential rain falling for about an hour. Everything is now sodden and weighed down.
-
We had 1 clap of thunder lunch time then rain most of the afternoon it's still fairly warm at 23 deg :)
tomorrow sunshine :D
-
We had some heavy rain showers yesterday. They petered out after dark, but still odd lighter showers were blowing through. Much the same today so far.
Have not heard any thunder rumbling about, but OH got caught in a big storm on the M4 yesterday with lightening cracking overhead and torrential rain that slowed everyone down to about 30 mph.
-
Grey, cool and breezy start to the day. Rain due in a couple of hours which will be welcome.
-
After the soaking yesterday, were back to sunny and warm 21C with patchy high cloud. The warnings of more storms for today, have disappeared :D
Lawn has started to green up again already. Will 'the news' show that the gloom laden brown fields will soon be gone, I wonder? ::)
-
No rain today, sunshine and wind :)
-
Grey, still and 16c, I've also just put some washing out so I expect we'll have showers the rest of the day :nowink: At least the house has finally begun to cool down.
-
We seem set for a fair day here - bit breezy but sunny intervals and 20ºC ish out of the wind.
-
Same as John really, bright but breezy. Couple of times has gone dark but it doesn't last long. Forecast for tomorrow keeps changing so I'll see what's what in the morning.
-
We have high grey cloud and 17c with no breeze, feels like just before a storm, but nothing in the forecast
-
Bit chilly this morning, around 14ºC but calm so it doesn't feel too bad. The grey sky has some light blue patches which is hopeful.
-
It's had that ominous calm before the storm feeling all morning, very close and muggy around 20c. It's clouded over and gone very dark a few times but no rain yet.
-
The breeze has gone but it has never really brightened up. Quite warm outside but not very inviting to stay out there.
-
Our rain showed up around 6 and was enough to freshen everything up. It's beginning to look a lot more green out there now. Cool again first thing this morning but warmed up to 17c quickly and so far it's blue skies and high wispy white clouds. If I wasn't such a grumpy old curmudgeon I'd say it's a nice day to get things done.
-
Started off quite nice but rain is supposed to arrive in an hour or so.. we'll see.
-
Much the same here - sunny and 17C but forecast is for cloud after lunch. No rain with it though ::)
-
It's grey, gusty and 16C, feeling like Autumn's on the way with the leaves blowing down ???
-
Damp, grey start with a bit of breeze. Not autumn here but hardly high summer.
-
Our rain started around lunch yesterday and we've had drizzle off and on since then.
It's grey and very muggy at the moment and the forecast if for much of the same for the rest of the day.
-
We've had some rain overnight, so a damp start but it looks like a dry day ahead. Temperature's not too bad, around 18ºC and very still.
-
It started off warm and sunny, but it has clouded over now and cooled down a bit 22C
-
Grey, muggy and very still again. We had some misty rain around 9 this morning but nothing to write home about still warm at 20c.
-
We were promised rain, thunder and lightning over night. We got 20 minutes light rain about 5.30.
-
Should be a reasonable day - dry with sunshine but quite cool at around 14ºC
-
The campsite for Reading Festival opened yesterday. No music until Friday but they all descend on the town as soon as they can.
Cue weather - rain on and off overnight and started raining heavily about 5-6 this morning. Been tipping down ever since. The garden is loving it but feeling a bit sorry for the festival campers.
-
We were promised rain, thunder and lightning over night. We got 20 minutes light rain about 5.30.
Lucky you, we got nothing....
It's 19C and grey, and we still have the Amber storm warning until 3pm today, so hope we do actually get some ::)
Just had a light rain shower, path barely wet - I'm still hoping for more fingers Xd
-
Well quite often my weather ends up with you later in the day, so fingers crossed :)
-
good steady rain most of the night and all this morning. Doesn't feel very warm. I am confined to the sitting room as I have the painter/decorator doing kitchen and hall. This weekend "housework" Mrs Bouquet
-
Grey and muggy with off and on drizzle, the type that makes things unpleasant but isn't enough to do any actual good. We could really do with a good thunderstorm to clear the air.
-
Steady rain until about 11am. Don't know when it started but it was raining when I came down at 5.30. Brightened up after that until about an hour ago when it went dark and started to spit again..
-
Noticeably cooler this morning at 12c and also a lot fresher. Patchy cloud, a bit of blue sky and a gentle breeze it looks to be a nice day.
-
Yes, it's cooler this morning, and the breeze has backed N/NE again, which helps....
Up to 18C now, but still need some more rain ::)
-
17C, sunny, slight NE breeze.
No significant rain forecast for at least 10 days, so with the hosepipe ban starting here today I'm expecting my arms to lengthen considerably in the very near future! ::)
-
A damp start with drizzle here, overcast and cool in the breeze. Saturday onwards looks pleasant. Most of the rest of the country has been declared a drought area, but Gwynedd is not. Pretty dry here though.
-
Looks set for a lovely day with sunshine - temp's not bad around 18ºC but there's an autumnal feeling in the breeze.
-
Mostly high cloud, just the odd patch of blue, 17C , meh! no sun, but no rain either ::)
-
Sunshine all morning clouded over now but no rain :)
-
Cloudy but pleasant - reasonably warm at 20ºC, very calm and dry.
-
Cloudy but pleasant - reasonably warm at 20ºC, very calm and dry.
Much the same here, just a couple of degrees cooler, so far.
-
And the same here. Looks better outside than it really is. Problem being we have 500 plus scooterists camping at Sandown Airport and they go out for 'collective' rides. We got caught up in one earlier and sitting for 20 minutes in fume filled air puts you off , plus the Airport is virtually at the bottom of the garden and the noise from them all is horrid. Roll on 4pm tomorrow when usually they have all gone home.
-
We have high grey cloud and 19C, but it feels cooler because we still have that NE breeze, gusting up to 23mph :(
There's a small chance of rain in the forecast over the next few hours, which would be nice, if it actually happens ::)
-
The bank holiday is over so bright sunshine all day from a blue sky. Everything is bone dry, though :(
-
quite a chilly and blustery NE wind. High cloud, but at least the washing will get dry.
-
Another nice day - Goldilocks; not too hot, not too cold. Sunny and just a little bit of breeze. Grass to cut, potatoes to harvest and don't ask about the weeds :)
-
We have high grey cloud and 19C, but it feels cooler because we still have that NE breeze, gusting up to 23mph :(

Same again today, even the forecast is the same :nowink:
-
Supposed to be sunny or sunny spells with light cloud but it's actually quite a heavy sky to start. We'll see what happens!
Cool at 15ºC with a bit of breeze.
-
Dark sky here as well, and 18C, but no rain in forecast - what's more worrying is hail forecast for 7pm, with all those squash and butternuts not yet ripe enough to harvest :( Fingers crossed for those.
We still have the gusty breeze from the NE so Autumn is here, it seems...
-
Autumnal here as well today. It has been quite breezy and that breeze is cool. Grey to really leaden skies and we have just had a burst of fairly heavy rain.
-
Yesterday brightened up into a rather pleasant day by mid morning. Today has started with sunshine and mainly blue sky but a bit breezy and there's a chill in the wind. Rain predicted this evening. Noticed a few leaves starting to turn autumnal already.
-
The wind of the last few days has dropped a bit here :)
There's blue sky and high cloud now, but showers in the forecast for this afternoon, 19C.
-
We've lost the breeze but it keeps clouding over and you worry that we are in for a downpour but nothing happens.
-
We've lost the breeze but it keeps clouding over and you worry that we are in for a downpour but nothing happens.
Same is happening here ::)
-
We had another spell of very heavy rain later in the evening yesterday as well.
Today has been dry, but humid.
-
This morning it's 19C with high cloud and the wind has dropped, so perhaps some apples will stay on the tree to ripen :nowink:
-
Heavy rain overnight (enough to wake me up), everything looks greener for it and the car needed a wash anyway :nowink: It's still 19c and very muggy but I'm considering a second layer.
-
Still very muggy out there :)
-
Still no rain here apart from a few spots overnight. Not that bright but quite warm.
-
We had an autumnal mist hanging around the gardens this morning. It cleared, but windy and grey sky weather has been building all day. It is a bit drizzly on and off.
We got rid of the festival and this weekend have Reading Pride, so no doubt it will be a bit miserable weather wise all weekend. It is not far from us as the crow flies, so it was pretty loud all day and will get louder later on tonight.
-
Yesterday was supposed to be heavy rain but we had just a few drops all day. Then around six pm a bit of real rain. Not sure what happened in the night but it was certainly windy and it's damp out there. Bit of sun, though :)
-
Mostly high cloud here, with the odd glimpse of the sun, 19C and quite still. Really do need some rain, but there's none on the radar :(
-
Low grey cloud and dark - looks threatening but nothing yet and still muggy at 19c.
-
So where is this flippin' rain ! ! !?
Cheers, Tony.
-
So where is this flippin' rain ! ! !?
Cheers, Tony.
We ain't got it!
-
Don't look down here either. We thought it was going to be overcast so planned to finish clearing the drive and lighting the incinerator. Weather bright and dry so neighbours put their washing out.
-
It's been a lovely day here - sunny and quite hot in the afternoon, Bucketing it down now :D
-
It was grey and drizzly yesterday but strangely humid. We had a cracking storm overnight and that has cleared it.
Blue sky and sunshine this morning, but cooler.
-
We're still stuck with the humid, grey cloud - but our thunderstorm action is forecast for this afternoon/evening....
-
Thunderstorm here just after midnight followed by a sensible amount of rain, the puddles are still there now. Bright and sunny this morning with a good breeze but still humid only 17c but feels more.
-
Very rare thunderstorm here just after 2am - 9.5mm of very welcome rain.
Fine, dry, 18C at the moment, but also very humid (92%)
-
Sunny day again here :)
Thunder possible around 5pm but we'll see - forecasts for here seem consistently unreliable!
-
We're still stuck with the humid, grey cloud - but our thunderstorm action is forecast for this afternoon/evening....
the 80% chance of rain is now a 30% chance Pfft....
-
Our forecast was wrong as well. Was supposed to be a dry day, got steadily more cloudy and we had a fairly long spell of rain around midday that only stopped about half an hour ago.
-
All the forecasts I've seen today have said thunder storms and rain from 3pm onwards. I'm still waiting. ::)
Otherwise it's been quite bright. I know we had some rain during the night but nothing since.
-
We have a storm over us now. Not as dramatic as the one in the dead of last night, but there is thunder and lightning, plus a lot of rain.
-
We've had thunder and lightening, in the distance, for about half an hour, but not a drop of rain, so far
*sulk*
-
We had a storm pass over us last night, dumped a huge load of water and the lightning terrified the dog. We had another storm this evening with even more rain. Happy to report doggo took it all in his stride tonight :)
-
Proper storm late yesterday evening - Roof leaks :nowink: :( It dropped a huge amount of water very quickly, I noticed the flood warning signs were out when I walked the dog this morning.
Very damp today but still feels warm and muggy, despite Alex telling me it's only 13c.
-
We've had thunder and lightening, in the distance, for about half an hour, but not a drop of rain, so far
*sulk*
Eventually we got a huge storm and downpour just after 2am, so won't have to water for a while :D
The sky is still very grey and it's a muggy, calm, 17C...
-
Nearly an inch of overnight rain, now very misty, 16C and 100% humidity.
From the rain radar it looks likely there will be some more rain within the hour...
-
Very still, muggy and frequent showers
-
Dog in a state of shock, we've had to close the backdoor because it's tipping down. Drizzle/light rain earlier this afternoon but proper rain now.
-
We're in the light rain stage, hopefully we'll get some of the heavier stuff later as well
-
Apparently we had a mini tornado or almost tornado over Yaverland (part of Sandown) at 1.30pm today. Wind speeds of 130mph. I've watched videos on Sandown Hub and Island Echo so I know the report is correct. It's only about 5 miles from us and I didn't notice any difference in the weather. Short sharp showers on and off.
-
Currently chucking it down here. We have had some rain during the day, but these overnight downpours are becoming a routine now. 4th night in a row now.
-
Woo hoo, at last some proper rain :D It first woke me up at about one and it's raining now.
From the amount in the buckets, it looks as if it has not stopped since then. That must go some way towards bringing the soil back to normal :)
Perhaps my 'dead' hydrangeas will recover, I hope so....
-
Still feels humid here although at 14c it should be cool. We've had a bit of drizzle this morning but nothing significant and there's the odd period of bright sunshine.
-
it's rained on and of all day, more tomorrow , fine over the weekend :)
-
It has rained heavily overnight, and flattened all the plants in the tubs near the door.
The weather seems to lurch from one extreme to the other atm.
Sadly the wind that came with the rain, blew over most of the buckets I had standing on the path to collect water...
Oh well, I tried ::)
-
Not a bad start to the day here. Sunny, fluffy white cloud in a blue sky. About 15ºC, calm,
-
Got absolutely soaked this morning walking the dog but it's cleared up now. Still low grey cloud and feeling a little on the cool side with no breeze at all.
-
Right now we have a small patch of blue in the middle of dark clouds, 16C, look like it'll be raining again pretty soon, but that lawn needs cutting again now, It didn't take long to recover, did it?
-
Low grey cloud, damp overnight but not enough to warrant calling rain, absolutely still and 13c. Feels like it's time to put a second layer on ::)
-
We had a lovely sunny morning clouded over now , no rain forcast for a few days, i made the most of it this morning in the garden planting bulbs and chopping down :)
-
A break today from rain and it has been a bit grey at times, but dry. The soil at the plot is damp, but not sodden, despite the recent downpours.
-
Low grey cloud. mild 16c and still.
-
Yesterday was very nice, sunny and warm but today it's grey, breezy and rain is due later.
-
We own as far as we can see! Thick fog, drizzle, very wet and light breeze. Surprisingly warm, about 17ºC. Onions to string, potatoes to sort in the shed, methinks.
-
There is very high cloud and hazy sunshine here, 18C with very little air movement.
Showers in the forecast for this afternoon, we'll see...
-
Noticeably cooler this morning but warmed up quickly. Low grey cloud, gloomy but warm at 18c and very muggy. We've had showers off and on for the last hour which haven't helped either.
-
It is a beautiful day here, lovely blue sky and sunshine.
-
Yesterday was really misty and damp first thing and it took quite a while to eventually burn off to a decent enough afternoon.
Today has been much better, with long spells of sunshine and getting pretty warm :)
-
It's 18C, grey and muggy, with rain forecast for later, Mollycat didn't like the look of it, can't say I blame her ::)
-
Beautiful, quiet sunny day at 19C
-
Rain here and has been for most of the day.
I got pretty damp this morning at the plot, but the upside is that my newly sown green manure seeds are getting a lovely watering in
-
It's 18C, grey and muggy, with rain forecast for later, Mollycat didn't like the look of it, can't say I blame her ::)
It started to rain at lunchtime, and it now feels chilly at 16C. I've had to put a cardi on ::)
-
Autumn's here been drizzling a=on and of all day, Levi my cat has been in his box all day, just shows it's changed all summer we haven't seen him much he's been out :)
-
Autumn's here been drizzling a=on and of all day, Levi my cat has been in his box all day, just shows it's changed all summer we haven't seen him much he's been out :)
Levi relaxing after a hard day's sleeping :)
-
Was raining when I went to bed, carried on all night and still going. A day for being indoors, I might have to do the ironing.
-
Was raining when I went to bed, carried on all night and still going. A day for being indoors, I might have to do the ironing.
Same here gracies gran the only thing is i shall be in doors at a ' Painting lesson ' :D
-
It's all my fault, every time I walk up the hill to the Doctor's Surgery it rains. Last time I went was the day of the big thunderstorm, today torrential rain.
So I'm now home, soaked through, just as it stops ::)
-
Completely the opposite here so far today, bright sunny morning, good breeze, a cool nip in the air with heavy dew first thing.
-
Feels much cooler this morning. Grey and still again but the forecast if some sun to show up later. Noticed a couple of leaves falling from the tress in the park yesterday.
-
Today, it's grey, damp, calm and 15C. Molly cat took 2 steps outside, then changed her mind and came back in. Can't say I blame her ::)
-
Much cooler now - autumn is here. Grey, 15ºC, light breeze but dry.
-
We had a grey and fairly cool start, but this afternoon the sun has broken through. I’ve been in the garden all afternoon :)
-
Yes, Autumn is here.
This morning is bright, but only 13C atm, with a gusty (18mph) NNWesterly 'strong breeze'.
Breeze is forecast to strengthen later, with perhaps a drop of rain.
-
Sunny, calm but a shock to the system at 7C!
-
Sunny, although starting to cloud over a bit, as forecast.
A distinctly modest 12.5C with a northerly breeze - had to smack my 'thermostat hand' earlier this morning before venturing reluctantly into the shower!
-
A bit of a shock to the system at 4c this morning  Very still and a clear blue sky. Looks like a nice day.
-
Yes, Autumn is here.
This morning is bright, but only 13C atm, with a gusty (18mph) NNWesterly 'strong breeze'.
Same again this morning.
I don't know if it's just me, but I woke up cold in the night  and had to get up and find a thicker quilt
Time to wash and put away the summer one, I think :(
-
First ground frost of autumn. 3C even in greenhouse, probably much lower at the bottom of the field judging by the whiteness of the grass
-
First ground frost of autumn. 3C even in greenhouse, probably much lower at the bottom of the field judging by the whiteness of the grass
Brrrrrr.
-
A few sunny patches, 13C, and we still have the chilly breeze from the North. I wish that would change direction, it would feel much warmer.
-
Chilly when I took the dog out about 7, definitely needed my jacket. Sun broke through and it's been pottering in the garden weather.
-
cloudy with sunshine, just been for our walk no jackets on still fairly warm :)
-
Rather cool I was away in Dorset for a couple of nights and returned to find my french beans had been hit by a frost whilst I was away. 7 degrees overnight tonight. Seems like the weather has definitely turned here. Will have to see how long the frost sensitive assorted beans can keep going also had some unhappy looking squash. Good thing I’ve planted some cabbages for a change they of course are perfectly happy. Must get ready to clear some beds for garlic.
-
High hazy cloud with sunny gaps now and again. 14C but feels warmer than the last few days because the wind has dropped :)
-
Cloud coming and going (mostly coming) - 17C and no breeze to speak of, so pleasant enough (needs to be, my very late sown butternut squash have about 6 fruits on - some large, some small; none anywhere near ripe yet.)
-
It's starting to look and feel autumnal, it's cooler and grey and when the sun does show up there's doesn't feel much warmth in it. Still feels that it's been very dry though.
-
Patchy, high cloud here and 12C first thing, warming up a bit now. Mollycat not impressed as there was a heavy dew this morning, so I get told off :D
-
Miserable. Cold, grey, wet and a bit windy. Makes you appreciate the sunny days all the more :)
-
Hot today for late September, 34°C right now, it could get warmer before the day is done. It's dry now, radar is threatening not enough rain to bother with over to next half hour.
-
Damp and grey. Not particularly cold, some rain during the night and it's just started again.
-
Damp and grey. Not particularly cold, some rain during the night and it's just started again.
Snap - grey, muggy and wet....Lovely ::)
-
Heavy rain forecast for yesterday afternoon and evening didn't materialise (just 0.4mm!)
Cloudless blue sky today with no breeze to speak of, so at 15C it should feel quite pleasant when I get outside. :)
-
Rain earlier on here. Now just grey and damp.
It’s not enticing me outside as it is one of those days when the rain drops just sit on plant foliage and don’t go anywhere, so you get soaked trying to do anything ::)
-
Snap - grey, muggy and wet....Lovely ::)
We had that first thing but it's cleared now as there's a considerable breeze and it's bright and sunny for once. I'm almost tempted to put some laundry on - but if the weather changes I'll wont be able to dry it as I haven't fixed the washing machine yet.... decisions, decisions
-
A magic day - well we're getting sunny spells <groan!>
Calm, cool 14ºC, damp ground but no more rain forecast today.
-
Here, it's 14C, there's high cloud and it is quite breezy from the NE again.
-
We have sun and blue sky 8) The wind has dropped as well, and forecast is for 16C after lunch, that'd be lovely ::)
Fingers crossed for a nice plot visit...
-
Brrrrmmmm it has a nip to it this morning and it was still dark when I took the dog out. :( Cloudy and grey at present and struggling temperature wise at 3c  . Won't be long before we start messing with the clocks again.
-
Cool and grey here with a little breeze. Hoping it doesn't rain as a few outdoors jobs need doing.
-
just had our walk turning chilly now sun all gone :)
-
Patchy cloud with occasional breaks of blue sky, but it's blowing a hoolie from the NW, so feeling much colder than the thermometer shows...
The wind nearly blew me over when I went out to close the greenhouse vent
-
Left the house to go to the dentist in bright sunshine (without a coat) arrived at the dentist in torrential rain, it's only a hundred yard so from the car park but I got absolutely soaked to the skin. Nothing like sitting in a waiting room, freezing cold, dripping wet and smelling like wet dog. :(
It's been like that the rest of the day too - off an on very heavy showers with bright sunshine, there's a good breeze but nothing major and it's supposed to be 12c but doesn't feel it anymore.
-
The wind is cold, but intermittent sun is nice. I sat in the greenhouse with my cuppa, but kept jumping up and down spotting things to do ::)
-
Cold! Needed a hot water bottle while sitting at my desk at home and working!
-
It's a pleasant 25 C and sunny here, though late in the week we are expecting to get hit by rain and wind from remnants of hurricane Ian.
-
Here, it's a drizzly 10C with an occasional burst of gusty Northerly wind, before it calms again.
-
Here, it's a drizzly 10C with an occasional burst of gusty Northerly wind, before it calms again.
Pretty much the same here.
-
Repeat of yesterdays sunshine and showers. The wind has picked up and the temperatures are struggling to make double figures.
-
I'll go with most people's sunshine and showers but it's also got a chilly wind with it. The kite surfers like it as there were quite a few out at Compton Bay this afternoon.
-
Much brighter today and no showers (yet). The wind has also dropped.
-
This morning it is damp and we have patchy, high cloud. There's sunshine right now but it's only 5C
Mollycat obviously thinks I'm to blame, as I've had a telling off for opening the door ::)
-
9 degrees at the moment in Glasgow but the sun is shining so I've got a washing on to hang out as soon as it's done. Got to make the most of the sunny days........
-
showery, feels cold at 12ºC but supposed to brighten up later.
-
Cold 9c , grey, misty , dark and damp. The thermostat is looking mighty tempting
-
Right now we have 10C, sunshine with a few high clouds - it looks lovely :)
However, the forecast if for cloud to thicken soon, with hours of heavy rain later. I suppose the ground needs it, but I can't keep up with the lawn mowing atm ::)
-
Gales gusting to 50mph, horizontal rain, around 12ºC
Indoor day!
-
Wind and rain not nice
-
Steady rain overnight and things are soggy out there this morning. It's 10c but the damp and a pretty strong breeze makes it feel cooler , a bit of sun and mainly blue skies which is a welcome change from yesterdays gloom.
-
The storm has left us a warm, sunny day 13C now 18C forecast for later 8)
Back to usual tomorrow it seems, so make hay while the sun shines, eh? :D
-
Back to usual tomorrow it seems, so make hay while the sun shines, eh? :D
Yup you were right. Currently pouring down here ::)
-
Same here ::)
-
Warmer 12c, bright and sunny, mainly blue sky with high cloud - oddly a nice day
-
Warmer 12c, bright and sunny, mainly blue sky with high cloud - oddly a nice day
About the same here but won't be doing much outside as we've both got this cold that's doing the rounds.
-
We have high cloud and 9C here and apart from rising a degree or 2, the forecast is for the same all day.
-
4c again this morning, but on the rise. Very still and blue sky again, it looks nice from indoors :nowink:
-
It cheered up yesterday and the afternoon was warm and dry.
Today a bit grey so far but mild.
-
It's grey, 14C and very breezy.
-
We're back to warm 12c, grey and gloomy, most cars still have their lights on.
-
Bright and breezy 16C here - earlier this morning they were forecasting heavy rain later, but seem to have changed their minds already. ::)
-
Proper autumnal. Still warm at 15c, but dark, very windy, spots of rain and the leaves are falling in the park.
-
Proper autumnal. Still warm at 15c, but dark, very windy, spots of rain and the leaves are falling in the park.
Much the same here..it's gusting at 30mph, Molly cat was almost blown back inside ::)
-
Not as windy here, but certainly a bit blowy, pretty grey, odd spots of rain. It's oddly warm here which doesn't match at all with what the weather looks like it is going to be
-
The wind and temperature have dropped today, 7c but it's largely blue sky and a few wispy clouds. It's a bit early to be sunny but it's looking promising.
-
The wind has dropped, we have blue sky and sunshine, and it is forecast to get up to 17C this afternoon 8)
Best get the lawn cut then......
-
Just cut my lawns for same "lull in weather" reason
-
Lovely day here with plenty of sunshine this morning. It got a bit cloudier in the afternoon, but still warm and very pleasant to be outside.
-
It's 14C and very damp underfoot, with high patchy cloud.
-
Bit of a stormy start to the day here. Windy and wet but not pouring, around 12ºC. Supposed to brighten up this afternoon.
-
This morning was mild with the odd patch of sunshine but It's turn generally grotty this afternoon. Clouded over the wind has picked up and there's a constant drizzle mixed with spells of light rain.
-
It's sunny with a beautiful blue sky, bit cool at 10C, but it's forecast to warm up to 16C by lunchtime 8)
It did, I managed to strim most of the lawn, before the batteries ran out. It was too long/wet for the mower to cope with :( Hopefully I'll get it mown in a couple of days now it's a bit shorter...
-
Cold start 4c again but clear blue skies and no breeze. Struggling to get into double figures but looks nice from inside again :nowink:
-
Lovely sunshine here, but a few white clouds about. The washing is out, but the wind is only flip-flopping about, so I hope it gets dry. have to sit in the g/house again with a cuppa :) Mrs B
-
Grey, cool 12ºC and windy. Leaves blowing around .. definitely an autumn day.
-
Sunny here and quite warm for October.
-
We had roughly an inch of rain last month, but no rain for the past 30 days, and less than half an inch forecast for the rest of the month. Rain hoped for following hurricane Ian never materialized.
It has mostly been a very dry summer and early fall.
-
We just had a gentle shower, just enough to dampen the path, so grey sky, 11C and the breeze is from the North again ::)
-
It has mostly been a very dry summer and early fall.
Do you get a real winters there or are they more inline with what we would thing of as autumn, cool and generally soggy?
Pretty heavy rain late last night and there are still standing puddles. It's back to being mild with blue sky and sunshine now though, tempted to put the laundry in.
-
Do you get a real winters there or are they more inline with what we would thing of as autumn, cool and generally soggy?
It's variable. The coldest that I've experienced here is -14 C (very rare), but we usually get a few overnight lows in winter that are in the 15 to 20 F range (-7 to -9 C). Most winters, we only have 30 or so nights that are below freezing. We had more that that last winter, but fewer in some other years. I've experienced a last-frost date as early as the end of February, but last spring we had a hard frost on April 10, and came close again on April 20. First frost in the autumn is usually in November (but sometimes as late as Ch****mas).
We get snow here, but it isn't common. We had a single 10-inch deep snowfall about 12 years ago. The year before that, I think, we had a white Ch****mas for the first time in 125 years, according to the records. Usually if we get snow it is a couple inches or less, and people stay at home and don't drive (a good thing, as southern people do not know how to drive in snow or ice). Our typical is one or two small snowfalls a winter (or none). Unofficially, I think we get most of our snow in February or March.
Nearly all of our precipitation in winter comes as rain, with cold fronts. Cloudy weather before the front is more humid and a little warmer, we get brighter weather, but colder, after the front. Strong cold fronts can be dangerous (they spawn tornadoes). Frontal weather systems dominate from November through April or May. We can get rain that hangs around for days. It is more typical to get a day where rain passes through, followed by 2 or 3 brighter, but cooler, days.
-
I forget sometimes how relatively stable the weather is here. Somewhat surprised about the snow looking how far south where you are on the map.
It's cold this morning at 4c and feels it too, bright and sunny though. I washed the dog's blankets yesterday but forgot to hang them out, hopefully they'll dry today
-
It's cold this morning at 4c and feels it too, bright and sunny though.
Same here and what breeze there is, is from the North again.
-
Calm here with patches of blue in the sky - even a bit of sunshine. Cool at 10ºC but looks like a reasonable day in the offing. :)
-
We woke to 12 C this morning, but it warmed to 20 C now, and should get to 24 C this afternoon.
Sunny and cool.
-
It had warmed up enough, by lunchtime, to dry the washing which meant that I actually remembered to get it in before it cooled off too much - but the temp is dropping quickly now....
Time to put on a thicker cardigan, methinks ::)
-
Beautiful day , got some gardening done :)
-
We woke to 12 C this morning, but it warmed to 20 C now, and should get to 24 C this afternoon.
Sunny and cool.
It's all right for some... ::) ::)
-
I forget sometimes how relatively stable the weather is here. Somewhat surprised about the snow looking how far south where you are on the map.
I refreshed my memory a bit on that big snowstorm that left 10 inches of snow on our patio table, etc. It was January 2011. The local media called it "Snowmageddon" or Snowpocalypse".
The southeast US gets these anomalous snowfalls when a big moist air mass collides with a cold air mass. That happened with that storm. There was a big low pressure system carrying moist air from the Gulf of Mexico northward, it collided with a cold high pressure system in the southeast to Mid-Atlantic states. I think that high pressure system was caused by a big southward dip in the Jet Stream, which moved south and then stopped.
Our smaller snows often happen for similar reasons, but result from smaller atmospheric systems colliding.
-
Noticeably chillier even indoors this morning, temp went down to 2.5C overnight in the greenhouse Brrr!
Now it's grey, damp, calm and 9C
-
Warmer than yesterday at 9c but feels colder as it's gone back to being grey, time to dig out the winter duvet.
-
22 C, and at long last, we seem to be getting a decent rain. About a half inch or so, forecast to happen over the next few hours, nice, slow, steady. Two days ago, we only had a sprinkle forecast for today. We will happily take it, and more. I'll be pushing the lawn mower with a cheerful smile this weekend, with the lawn finally getting a drink.
-
Heavy rain overnight woke me up ::) so everything is damp and dripping this morning, and there's more on the rain radar as well.
A grey 10C atm but at least the Northerly breeze has dropped, for now.
-
Its a grey and still 7c day, indoor temperatures have risen a bit and it looks like it might brighten up - fingers crossed.
I still can't find the winter duvet :( the search continues but I'm getting to the stage where I'm wondering if I binned it last year after I downsized to a double bed  You can bet if I buy another one though it will suddenly appear.
-
18 C, we received 0.7 inches of rainfall yesterday and today, so a welcome rain indeed. :)
-
Not as soggy here with just misty drizzle. The temperature has crept up to 11c but it's generally grey and the dampness is making it feel unpleasant.
-
We are forecast to go from a high temperature of 29 C this coming Sunday to a low of -1 C the following Tuesday. A freeze here, this early, is unusual.
It seems like I may need to get the orchid plants indoors sooner than expected this year.
If it does get that low, it will finish off the pole beans and the last remaining tomato and pepper plants. Oh well, it will clear the way for autumn-through-spring crops. I'll especially miss the pole beans.
-
It feels warm at 15C, and it's very wet, this morning. Mollycat not impressed at all with getting her feet wet :D
Just looked at the forecast and it shows gusty winds, but it's calm, storm already passed, maybe? Or yet to arrive?
-
Wet and warm today. Pretty soggy under foot as we had considerable rain overnight. Otherwise it's much of the same - a grey, still and dreary autumnal day. :(
-
It's bright and sunny, but only 10C atm, and everything is dripping wet from a heavy dew, cat took 1 look and turned back inside :D
Forecast is for a sunny day and 16C, so may get some more plot-time later :) Weeds are loving this weather, that's for sure ::)
-
Cold start 3c but it's bright, sunny and still so doesn't feel as bad as yesterday.
-
It's a beautiful day here in sunny west sussex , just been for a nice long walk :)
-
It's 12C, grey and wet. Lots of rain overnight and drizzly now.
Just as I went to post this it changed back to heavy rain, so guess it is set in for the day ::)
-
Mild today 14c , it started nice enough but began to drizzle when I was walking the dog , it turned into proper rain as we arrived home and hasn't stopped since.
-
Mild, no breeze whatsoever, still dark , very misty, and now also very wet.
-
Also grey and wet here. I’m planning some time this afternoon after work for batch cooking for the freezer :)
-
It rained heavily early this morning with a crack of thunder and lightening. But the sky is blue now and it is mild. My batch cook s in the slow cooker, but I may have overdone the chili - hope not !!
-
My batch cook s in the slow cooker, but I may have overdone the chili - hope not !!
If you have, a bit of sugar will help considerably. Just go easy and add it a little at a time. 1 teaspoon will balance an awful lot of heat :)
-
It's been wet since before getting up time and looks as if it will be wet after I go to bed. And it ain't very warm.
-
Much the same as yesterday - Soggy underfoot, a mild 13c, very little breeze, dark and grey.
-
Bright and sunny here and 15C, the ground is wet from overnight rain.
Thunderstorms are forecast for this morning, there isn't anything showing on the rain radar until this evening though ::)
-
When it rained, it really rained, otherwise quite bright but very breezy, gusting at times. Not very warm though.
-
11°C and sunny, warmer later on.
We dodged an early frost earlier in the week. A couple tomato plants and the pole beans are still producing a bit.
-
It was sunny early this morning and quite warm as I walked up to the Co op in my cardigan 8)
By lunchtime we had some drizzle and once the sun had gone it cooled down again..
Now we have 'proper' rain and the c/heating is calling me.....
-
The BBC & the Met Office agreed today would be sunny here.. grey, shower, very cold wind. So the polytunnel it was.
-
Heavy rain this from the early hours this morning, the road and the main road are flooded, not sure how much is to do with the amount of rain or the fact all the drains are blocked with leaves ::)
It's still mild at 13c but grey, very dark and still raining. The sort of day when going back to bed feels like an excellent idea.
-
It's grey, drizzly, and quite mild at 15C - but we have thunderstorm warnings for around teatime
-
Pouring here and very dark and gloomy.
Definitely a duvet day.
-
Rain, with thunder first thing. Eased off now but a day for staying indoors.
-
Bit of a miserable start but supposed to brighten up later. Yesterday was supposed to be quite nice but was on off showers all day. Polytunnel looking a lot better though!
-
Got woken up by thunder and lightning at 5.30 am , if I'd known it was only going to last 45 minutes I'd have gone back to bed and waited it out, it is Sunday after all. Heavy rain with it. Just had another heavy downpour with thunder and lightning, again for about 45 minutes. Haven't been outside so can't comment on the temperature.
-
A dull, cool day here but no great wind and supposed to be dry although everything is dripping wet at the moment.
-
Yesterday changed completely, by lunchtime it was warm, sunny and bright ::)
It's mild today at 11c , still and after more rain overnight very soggy. It doesn't have the oppressive grey of yesterday morning though.
-
Had strong winds and heavy rain overnight, lots of leaves and twigs blown down - I was worried about the greenhouses, but they survived :)
Now it's still, cool 13C and very grey.
-
Started off a grey, mild and damp but the sun has made an appearance and although it's still only 13c it feels nicer.
-
It was a bit cooler this morning, and still doesn't feel any better, although it is up to a breezy 14C. It's alternating between sunny spells and dark cloudy sky.
I've taken the washing in twice because we had a few spits, so got fed up and now it's on the airer ::)
-
Warm and sunny  15c with bright sunshine and fluffy white clouds. There's a strong breeze from the West taking the edge off and aggressively removing what's left of the tree's leaves in the park though.
-
It is supposed to be warmer today, but doesn't feel like it, it's soo windy, with Wheelie bins flying all over the place! It's mostly cloudy, just the occasional small gap in the clouds, deffo not a day for being outside for long, if you have any choice about it ::)
-
It's 16C this warning, but pouring with rain ::) Oh well, can't have everything, at least the c/heating is off for now :D
-
A very warm 17c but grey, dark and soggy.
-
Mild @ 16C, misty and very wet underfoot. Some sun would be nice, would that be asking for too much? ::)
-
Pretty glum this morning, dark, grey and drizzle but a warm 13c. I went back to bed and now it's all change, bright blue sky , high wispy cloud and no almost dead still.
-
After a damp start it's turned into quite a pleasant day but very breezy.
-
Basically a yuck weekend here. Rainy, windy going on stormy. Back to bed! :(
-
Basically a yuck weekend here. Rainy, windy going on stormy. Back to bed! :(
Pretty much the same here, dodged the rain walking the dog but it's generally foul. It's still warm though 11c at the moment and the forecast is for 19c later today
-
Wind, rain and hill fog. All cats in round the fire.
-
The cloud is thinning, it's calm and 16C. The forecast is for sunny patches today, up to 18C - so fingers crossed..
-
Mild at 12c but soggy underfoot so I think there was rain overnight. It's grey, dark and very autumnal, there are more leaves stuck to my car than on the trees now.
-
It's very grey, raining and 13C - Mollycat was not impressed, but then again, neither am I :nowink:
-
About 12ºC here - dry at the moment but rain is due. Quite windy.
-
On holiday in Anglesey this week and weather is sunshine, blowing strongly & heavy showers & blowing strongly.
-
Nice bright morning but at about 4pm it all changed and it started raining and hasn't stopped since. Still been very breezy all day.
-
It's 13C bright and sunny, but very wet underfoot. Forecast is for more rain this afternoon, though ::)
-
Overcast, light rain, 16 C.
It should be helpful for getting some fescue grass seed growing.
-
Started out quite pleasant but the wind picked up at lunch time time and then it started raining at about 3pm. It's n ow heavy rain and really gusty.
-
Heavy rain here as well, now. It was too wet to do anything this morning, so, after this lot it just won't be worth walking to the allotments tomorrow :(
-
It's 14C wet and windy.
It started getting windier as I was going to bed, but it's really blowing a hoolie this morning, gusts up to 38mph
with rain in the mix :(
-
Heavy rain yesterday evening has left everything soggy. It' still mild at 10c and a pretty stiff breeze from the west, cloud cover but it's not oppressively grey.
-
Really heavy rain and very high winds all through the night it took a fence panel out and snapped it in half, first thing this morning we were clearing shrubbery as it had gone in next doors garden.
-
115mph gusts over the Needles last night. Glad we live on the other side of the Island. Still windy all day with heavy showers. Neighbour lost a lot of his fence and we lost a tv aerial which we can't find. Doesn't matter as it had already blown over and was laid on the roof having fallen off the chimney and we had replaced it with one fixed to the soffit.
-
Here on Anglesey it’s blowing a hoolie with very heavy rain showers, so we’ve had a quick trip down to the beach where I had a quick walk, was fine til I turned into the wind on the way back, my face is now sandblasted & I won’t need a beauty salon & all they can offer to get that sort of finish . Trip to the Main Street to buy something for dinner & that’s us in for the day methinks.
-
Heavy rain overnight again, but for the moment it has stopped. Wind is gusting up to 39mph so greenhouses and me, are in lockdown mode
More rain forecast for this afternoon and for a thunder storm overnight, plus a yellow warning for heavy rain tomorrow.
Maybe the reservoirs will start to fill up again now .....
-
In a word - Yuck.
It's cooler than of late at 12c, very windy, dark, with gunmetal grey clouds which look like they want to dump a considerable amount of rain.
-
Finally calmed down somewhat here, enough for us to get out for a walk to the beach for half an hour. It was quite calm & a lot warmer down by the shore line.
Here’s a couple of photos from the stream at the end of the car park , it was only half that flow a couple of days before
-
More rain forecast for this afternoon and for a thunder storm overnight, plus a yellow warning for heavy rain tomorrow.
Maybe the reservoirs will start to fill up again now .....
We only got a few flashes of lightning, nothing noisy, but we had a lot of rain, and right now it is torrential and overflowing the gutters  Needless to say - the front footpath is flooded again ::)
I think, maybe, I should have continued building my ark :nowink:
-
and by contrast it 9c , bright, sunny and still here this morning. Although yesterday was pretty much what you described and it's soggy under foot and everything feels damp.
-
More rain forecast for this afternoon and for a thunder storm overnight, plus a yellow warning for heavy rain tomorrow.
Maybe the reservoirs will start to fill up again now .....
I heard yesterday that we will be on a hosepipe ban until end of 2023. No the reservoirs are not filling up yet as the rain is just running through the cracked earth. Once the sponge effect has worked, then they will start to fill. Mrs B
edit to clarify quote
-
It looks lovely through the window, but a bit chilly when you open the door, as it's 10C with a really gusty, Northerly wind.
-
Was lovely bright sunshine first thing in Anglesey as we left, sun most of the way home with just a quick sprinkle of rain for a minute or two. Looks like it’s been much the same at home. The thermometer in the tunnel was at the lowest it’s been since spring at 2 deg, but of course I don’t know when it recorded that, so as it was turning chilly up there this afternoon I’ve put in the top plastic on the 4 doors for tonight, so that will be another daily job of in at night & out in a morning to allow for ventilation.
-
Rain overnight and first thing this morning so its soggy and damp. It's stopped now the wind has died down but it's still grey and only 7c . I'm getting tempted to put the central heating on. :nowink: if only to take the dampness away.
-
It's 7C wet & windy here and I'm sitting here in 2 jumpers.
My c/heating is already on for a few hours in the morning and then at tea time . At my age I don't do cold.
-
Grey and pouring down here. My central heating has just gone on for a boost for exactly this reason.
I'm getting tempted to put the central heating on. :nowink: if only to take the dampness away.
It is not cold in the house, but there is a limit to the amount of dankness a person can tolerate ::)
-
Very wet, windy and grey. I am very tempted with the C/h, but not yet, I'll try to last another week. The weeks become my challenge ::) Mrs B
-
Wet and windy here as well. Glad I don't have to go out.
-
Ended up cold but calm and dry, very clear. Perfect for watching firework displays going off in the lowlands from our hillside.
-
Gave up trying to clear Gorse, throwing it down, most unpleasant down the Dingle. Had planned for some stock fence repairs this afternoon, when my son surfaces. Hill fog, moving about. All cats in the house.
-
It's 11C wet and windy - nuff said ::)
-
Rain overnight and very damp again foggy this morning. It's cleared and risen to 10c but the wind has picked up, it's still dark enough to need the lights on and looks like it's about to rain. Nice ::)
-
It was very wet earlier on but is actually brightening up now. Everything is soaked and dripping though, so not although it is not really cold, outside feels yuck.
-
Still pouring down and quite windy. The house is beginning to feel damp, or is it me (not damp, just feeling it)
-
Been raining nearly all day , we have just managed a quiick walk :D
-
26 C and partly cloudy with the occasional shower today.
28 C and sunny expected tomorrow. A work day, but at least I will be working outdoors to enjoy it!
-

That'd be lovely, after the soaking we've just had 8)
-
That was a cold, wet day - a wash out as far as doing anything outside.
-
Still pouring down and quite windy. The house is beginning to feel damp, or is it me (not damp, just feeling it)
Remnants of Hurricane Martin?
-
A replay of yesterday so far. Drizzle first thing but it's stopped around 7, although it's still dark, grey, windy and damp.
-
A replay of yesterday so far. Drizzle first thing but it's stopped around 7, although it's still dark, grey, windy and damp.
Snap :(
Now pouring down, path flooded again ::)
-
Today will be wet, very windy and around 12ºC
-
Same here we have just done our walk it's blowing a howley and rain :)
-
Showers on and off, still very windy.
-
Today, it's not quite as grey, not quite as wet - it's still windy but a little bit warmer at 13C.
Could be worse I suppose :D
-
Same as yesterday here.
Warmer 10c but heavy rain and wind overnight has left everything sodden. Black clouds rolling in from the east even though it's currently sunny it has that orange tinge of sun before the storm.
-
Woken by thunder rolling down across the Menai which the cats decided was the giant cat in the sky calling breakfast. Windy, wet and 10ºC - greenhouses still standing which is good. Last night the wind was so strong I nearly got blown over nipping out to the shed.
-
Same as yesterday. Showers on and off and windy, it's getting boring now. The weather forecast doesn't look much better.
-
Rain late evening and overnight again, things are beginning to get very soggy. So far this morning though it's mild, clear blue sky and the wind has dropped. Looks like it's turning into a nice day.
-
Rain late evening and overnight again, things are beginning to get very soggy. So far this morning though it's mild, clear blue sky and the wind has dropped. Looks like it's turning into a nice day.....
Much the same here, except we are quite breezy, the path is still flooded this morning, so if I venture out I'll need to find my wellies
-
Overcast but some blue around - at least it's not raining. Cool 10ºC but much calmer with just a light breeze.
-
Bit warmer at 12ºC, breezy to gusts around 40mph, on and off rain.
-
We're back to just meh again. Mild at 12c but grey, dull and windy although nothing significant.
-
We're back to just meh again. Mild at 12c but grey, dull and windy ...
Same ::)
-
Warm - 13c , very windy, dry but very grey.
-
Warm - 13c , very windy, dry but very grey.
Snap!
-
Beautyful day here bit of wind this morning :)
-
Cooler today 7c but the wind has dropped so it still feels warm. Currently dark and grey but we're forecast some sun later which would make it a pleasant autumn day.
-
It's grey, calm and 11C here.
-
We had a cold, breezy, grey day but dry so managed to get some work done outside :)
-
It brightened up mid afternoon and we had a reasonable day yesterday. It's warmer again today 12c and the cloud looks to be clearing. We're also forecast to get 16c and sunshine later
-
Looks a better day than yesterday - lot warmer. Shame I was up in the middle of the night an feel like a zombie! The battery back up for my PC decided to scream that the battery was dead at 4.30am. Took me a while to figure out what the noise was >:( >:(
-
Well Porthmadog, 10 miles down the rod from us, was the warmest place in the UK at 21.2ºC - an all time record for November. Even now near midnight it's 13ºC.
-
Here, it's foggy, grey damp and 10C. Mollycat was not impressed once her feet got wet, she turned straight round and came back inside. ::)
-
Cooler 9c , grey and misty drizzle. Not an outside day.
-
Quite a thick mist here again this morning, yesterday it took til after lunch to clear & we got a bit of sunshine.
Doesn’t look inviting, so a quick trip to the chickens will be the order of the day, ironing & clearing out the under stairs cupboard
-
.... ironing & clearing out the under stairs cupboard
The horror, the horror!
Temperature about the same as midnight, 13ºC. Very dull and grey, light rain. Bit of a breeze.
-
It is grey, 11C, wet and very windy
-
The wind got up in the night but it's quite still out there now. 9ºC, wet and very dull.
-
Very wet - start raining late last night and hasn't really stopped, grey - damp and windy. Although it's still mild, 10c it feels less as everything has that dampness to it.
-
wet and windy certainly not a day to plough my allotments >:(
-
Contemplated starting on an ark this morning it was so bad! I briefly saw the sun about an hour & a half ago, then another downpour. Currently brightening with some sun, so time to pop out to the chickens methinks
-
Very wet and windy here too. When it rains it really rains. Lots of standing water on the roads although more here East Wight then over West Wight. Had a brief spell of brightness lunchtime but then on the way home the rain came back. Had to sit in the van outside the house as didn't fancy going down the garden in that heavy shower.
-
Rain overnight, soggy under foot, grey, dark and windy. Nice ::) added to that a nasty drop in temperature down to 4c.
-
We have monsoon weather
The front footpath is flooded, much more and it will reach the bottom of the door, back yard isn't much better, the deluge is just overflowing the gutters.
We have the same weather warning for tomorrow as well :(
-
Pretty cool at 6ºC but bright and sunny - last night's rain drying off the patio now.
-
We have monsoon weather

Oh no I hope you stay dry, sounds like the deluges we got yesterday but we’re the top of a hill.
Today brilliant sunshine, but was chilly first thing
-
Typical mid-november. Slight overnight frost, calm, partly cloudy and at mid-day was 8C
-
Torrential rain. I arranged to take a non-driver out for a lunch at g/centre 6/7 mile away. It was a very slow journey for everybody, roads totally flooded. Inside G/centre packed out, large restaurant full. The noise of the rain on the rooves was horrendous. Nobody was talking too loud !! But a tasty, ham, two fresh eggs and chips.
-
Mrs B, you've just reopened the old debate that goes on in my head from time to time...
Is the plural of roof, rooves or roofs
-
Very wet and windy is not a strong enough description. I've had to turn the tv up to cover the noise of the rain hitting the window. Next door has been landscaping the garden having moved in three months ago, it is now a big mud puddle.
-
Steady rain overnight but no standing water and thankfully not heavy enough to flood anything. Constant drizzle so far today and only 6c, grey, very dark and windy.
-
After yesterday's deluge, it carried on raining through the night, just spitting now - so everything is sodden :(
It's 7C grey, although MetO shows no more rain for today. Fingers crossed.
-
It's absolutely lashing it down in Jarra today, that with the high winds is making it a very miserable day!
-
Heavy rain most of the night- ask me how I know!
Heavy rain this morning with a strong wind making it very uncomfortable out there& somewhat colder
-
rain rain and more rain its either a shopping day or a visit to the garden centre for a cup of tea
-
Heavy rain most of the night- ask me how I know!
How do you know? :D
-
It has rained pretty much non-stop since 0200 this morning and has only just stopped - 40mm in total.
Tomorrow needs to be drier as there are some very full rivers round here just now...
-
Heavy rain most of the night- ask me how I know!
How do you know? :D
I was awake for most of it
-
It's finally stopped raining :nowink:
Blustery and mild, 8c and a bit of low winter sunshine in the mix too.
-
Much calmer here with some lovely sunshine, currently sitting in the conservatory which is just warm enough(no heating in here)
-
Minus 2 C this morning; clear, sunny and still. The tomato and bean plants that were not already gone surely will be today, or over the next few nights with more of the same.
-
Much calmer here with some lovely sunshine, currently sitting in the conservatory which is just warm enough(no heating in here)
I had almost an hour in the big greenhouse with my book and the cat on my lap (I think I was warmer than the plastic chair she usually sits on :D) @ 22C. Then it clouded over and cooled down rapidly, so we came back indoors. ::)
-
About 4ºC, grey and blue sky spots of sunshine, still. Not too bad at all.
-
The breeze has turned Northerly and it is grey, misty and 7C. Mollycat seems to think that the weather is my fault! She dashed out, got wet paws, turned around, came back in and told me off ::)
-
Its not been bad a all. Washing was out, but in now. It has been sunny and a bit blowy.
-
Turned jolly cold this afternoon :)
-
Turned decidedly chilly today, but has been dry & bright which has been welcome
-
Very grey, calm, 7C and still raining :(
The buckets I put out to collect rainwater, earlier in the week, are now overflowing ::)
-
Turned cold , but at least there was sun late afternoon sunshine. I've caved in and put the heating on for an hour tonight :nowink: the hall thermostat was reading 11c and the house felt cold.
-
The breeze has turned Northerly and it is grey, misty and 7C.
Same again
-
Very wet, grey, windy and cold at 5ºC
Happily I've work to do on the computer!
-
Its cold, windy and teeming with rain. I wiped away all the condensation this morning, but within 15 mins it had crept back in again. I am not really sure why because I have one of those aero 360 things at the worst window in the kitchen and now I have moved the big dehumidifier in. This is where I sit for a good deal of the day.
-
Very windy and to see the rain passing the window horizontally was amazing. Bit better this afternoon but still overcast.
-
So far, it's blue sky and a few high, fluffy clouds and 7C
So pretty, but cold....
-
6c, cold, damp, windy and although not as grey as yesterday it's not exactly bright either. I just can't get the small of my back warm at all despite wearing 3 layers and it's making me grumpy :(
-
Much brighter today but on the chilly side. Not looking forward to the forecast for tomorrow with squally rain and gusting wind. I was going to go to work but I think I'll stay at home.
-
Partly sunny, 17 C, no wind.
Great weather for planting out spinach and lettuce seedlings, and clearing out / turning some raised beds, which is what I'm doing today.
-
Wet and windy. Dog refused a walk, I wasn't sorry. Back lawn flooded, clears quickly. Water butts overflowing
Good news - the hosepipe ban has been lifted
-
Same here, except swap cat for dog, and footpath for lawn ::)
Absolutely awful again :(
-
Heavy rain and wind first thing then calmed down and cheered up. Several short sharp showers started again about lunchtime.
-
20 C and partly sunny.
-
It's bright and 6C this morning, but we have a yellow warning for wind and rain later ::)
-
20 C and partly sunny.
Sigh, we could do with some of that warmth now, would cheer everybody up so much ::)
-
Decidedly chilly this morning, but a bit brighter than of late. We have had a rain shower but thankfully after I got home from the library with our 20th old grandson who doesn’t want to go in the buggy anymore, so a walk that would take me 10/15 minutes was way over 30, but bless him he walked all the way, practicing his new word….flower
-
Looks like we have a respite day from the wind and rain - blue sky, calm and not raining. About 6ºC but set to add a few degrees to that as the day progresses.
-
Actually can see the sun today, but chilly, the patio even has dry bits on it :)
-
Looks like we have a respite day from the wind and rain - blue sky, calm and not raining. About 6ºC but set to add a few degrees to that as the day progresses.
Same here, so lovely to see some sunshine, even if you need to wrap up warm :)
-
Also a bit of winter sun here and just managing double figures at 10c, doesn't feel like it though. I bought a new 13.5 tog duet to replace the one I can't find and last night made me think I should have bought the 15 tog instead.
-
Not sure about the temperature. My sitting room faces south and it is currently 25c in there, and I love it.
Sharing the warmth with the washing on a rack, but much has been in the garden. But overall a lovely day.
-
it's been a nice day here today a pleasure to work outdoors not to cold makes a change from raining everyday
-
Sunny with occational heavy precipitation. Still feeding the hedgehogs, no hibernation yet.
Cheers, Tony.
-
We have patchy high cloud, 9C and dead calm.
According to the forecast that's all about to change, with heavy rain and strong winds to arrive by lunchtime *sigh*
-
Horrid!
Wind, rain but 10ºC - too much energy in the system.
-
Murky but dry so far.
-
No rain yet today, but there is still time
-
Reasonable start - more rain later :(
Greenhouses - Eden OK, Vitavia has panes out :(
-
Reasonable start - more rain later :(
Greenhouses - Eden OK, Vitavia has panes out :(
Oh no!!
We came though unscathed, but think the West took the brunt of it.
This morning the winds have dropped, we just have steady soaking rain. So another indoors day for me - I'm getting fed up with it, and winter hasn't even, really started yet ::)
-
Must have had rain in the night, but none so far this morning, it’s getting a bit brighter as I type, & I’ve taken a punt and put some washing out as there’s sunshine forecast for a few hours this afternoon but I’m not that hopeful of it drying.
-
It hasn't stopped since last night and it's still raining and getting dark 2-30 in the afternoon, i'm going to hibinate until spring like my hedghogs that are still coming every night 3 of them :D
-
Showers, some heavier than others, on and off all day.
-
After a heavy rain last night, it is 20°C and sunny this afternoon.
-
Clear sky, 7C and calm right now, with hit or miss showers throughout the day on the radar.
The lawn desperately needs cutting, but needs to dry out a lot, before I can...it'll just have to wait ::)
-
Cold, damp & foggy today with not a breath of wind! Last cut of the lawn done on Friday :)
-
8ºC, calm, dripping from showers here. Hope it dries out as I've a lot of broken glass to clear up :(
-
Thick cloud with a heavy mist this morning that’s left a decidedly damp murky day and cold.
3.8 in the tunnel overnight
-
The weather forecasters said we were going to get rain, kept going dark and then darker but no water fell. It has got colder though as they said it would.
-
Clear blue sky this morning, the sun melting away the frost, the fog lifting
-
Grey, calm and damp here and just making 7C, I don't know if it is because of the damp, but it's not feeling warm indoors either - despite the c/heating being on low. Very tempted to turn the thermostat up, but trying to resist... and yes, I have already got a couple of jumpers on ::)
-
5c soggy and foggy.
I think it's the damp MoS making it feel cold. I've put my heating on for an hour or so a few times now - mainly to dry the bath towel. I should change the towel rail to an electric one, especially as I'm starting to see a bit of mould appear in the bathroom, but it's easier just to put the CH on :nowink:
-
Been damp & murky here all day, never really got light . Misty when I went back to the chickens at 3pm.
Cold too 3.9 in the tunnel overnight
-
Pouring rain tonight, supposed to continue through late morning tomorrow, then freezing tomorrow night.
-
That's a big change for you, I think.. weird weather, from one extreme to the other?
Here, it's 7C calm, grey and, for a change - it's not raining :D There's even some sunny patches forecast for this afternoon :)
Fingers crossed
The sky did lighten, but didn't actually see any blue sky or sun. They lied again *sigh*
-
More of the same as yesterday here. Did brighten briefly but it was very brief glimpse of light
-
Cold! Definitely gloves and hat when walking the dog. Sun trying to break through, not a breath of wind, dogs spare towels have been on the line to dry since Monday.
-
It's grey showery and 6C, very depressing :(
-
cold foggy miserable and damp time to put another log on the fire and sit back on the PC :)
-
Cold,misty,damp & dismal, all day
-
It has been raining overnight, everything soaked again, 6C with a chill Northerly breeze whooshing down the terrace. Brrr - needless to say, Mollycat didn't want to go out, can't say I blame her :)
-
Looks like we're going to have a decent, if chilly, day. Calm, some blue in the sky and sunshine forecast. Currently 1ºC
-
We have 5C (MetO says it 'feels like' 2C, The cat and I agree!)
So it's cold, drizzly with ENE wind at 19mph...Pfft!
-
Bloomin' cold and dark. If I was a cat, I go in the airing cupboard, it is the only warm place here. ;)
-
much the same as the rest of you cold damp and dull definitely not the weather for gardening ;)
-
Drizzly rain this afternoon. Like many of you we would love to tidy the front garden but it' so wet we just have to look at it and sigh.
-
More of the same - cold 3C, damp, grey with a 'strong breeze' from the NE.
Winter woolies on
-
Found out why our house has been decidedly chilly this last week, someone has gone round and turned all the thermostat valves down. I suspect small fingers when they came to stay at Easter. :D
-
Very cold today, & dull & overcast again, dark by 4 pm:oh my:
-
Drizzly, dark and 6C - at least it's not snowing ::)
-
Not too bad here - around 5ºC, bits of blue in the sky, dry and little breeze. Warmer in than out, though :)
-
Just seen a huge rainbow over the Downs, walking back up the hill and there it was, beautiful.
I don't like the look of the - 's in front of the weather forecasts. Getting dark now, and I am getting cold. Time for some heat soon methinks.
-
8 C with constant rain is as good as it will get today.
Rinse and repeat forecast for tomorrow.
-
Some patches of blue this morning, but it's only 3C. The wind is still from the NE but has dropped quite a bit since yesterday ;)
-
A fine blue sky but goodness it's chilly. I'll take that over wet and windy though - it's a pleasant changes to see the sun after all the rain we had last month.
-
Blue sky, and NNE winds so cold, but a few bits of washing flapping about. The rest indoors in front of south facing patio doors.
-
Hard frost this morning, -3C overnight, -1C now. Brrr! Blue sky and sunshine makes it look pretty, but don't help the gas bill
-
Hard frost this morning, -3C overnight, -1C now. Brrr! Blue sky and sunshine makes it look pretty,
Much the same but slightly cold at -2c and -4c overnight.
-
Not a cloud in the beautiful sky and the sun is shining. But oh, it's cold and the NE wind is bitter.
-
Cold -2c but feels colder and a light dusting of powdery snow overnight. Not a good day to have to take the car for it's MOT.
-
Cold -2c but feels colder
Yup, but no snow here just a heavy frost Brrr!
-
Went outside to switch off a light around midnight - incredible. -2ºC, clear sky with some twinkly stars and the moon so bright it was almost day.
Blue sky, freezing point out there. Frost whitening the grass. Glad the wood store is full! Calor tank at 75%
-
Update: it's been a bit of snow, bit of sleet, bit of hail - rinse and repeat! Woodburner keeping us toasty on free wood in kitchen / diner :)
-
15 C and waterlogged.
In the past month, we've had nearly 8 inches of rain, compared to just over 12 inches for all of summer. The difference, of course, is too much rain now compared to evapotranspiration (ET), whereas during the summer, we had too little rain relative to ET.
-
Proper snow in Consett round corner so winter has come. It may only be -2C here but with the wind chill it feels like -7C according to the forecast. The little bit of snow that fell late yesterday has frozen to an ice sheet at the door. Forecast pretty much the same for the next few days with a bit of mist/fog thrown in for the weekend. Loverly.
-
We've got a heavy frost, with -2C (with a feels like of -7C according to MetO)) and it is bright and sunny.
It looks pretty, but feels nasty ::)
-
It's near plus 4ºC here but it looks a bit Bing Crosby with snow patches.
-
Repeat of yesterday - cold overnight -4c and light dusting of snow, frosty and still struggling to get above 0c. Sunny patches but with grey snow clouds mixed in.
-
Very cold night with freezing fog and a heavy frost. When I let the chickens out I had the robin and blackbird giving me looks until I broke the ice on the pond for them to have a drink and chucked them some robin mix seeds.
-
Light snow covering, pretty chilly around freezing. Not much going to get done outside today :(
-
Heavy frost here, as well, 'feels like' -5C according to MetO
All I know is it's 'blinking' cold, with the odd bit of dry snow blowing up the terrace. Brrr
-
Another repeat today - light dusting of snow -4c overnight and -1c now. Feels warmer out though as the bitter wind has dropped. Doesn't feel warming inside though and I've put the heating on.
-
First snow for us in Jarrow.. we're lucky to get any as we're not far from the coast.
It was -4⁰c yesterday morning, -4⁰c overnight but it felt much warmer than yesterday morning. Our heating is on at a steady 18.5⁰c but will rise later once Mrs R starts to cook the dinner! :)
-
Very old, with thick heavy cold the frost hasn’t lifted in 3 days, even had a flurry of white stuff a couple of times . Almost looks foggy the cloud is so low. Really not a day to be out in or stand in the garden club store for my duty day this morning, but it was nice to see the store volunteers & committee members I’d invited for a coffee & mince pie .
-
Yeah the volunteers will turn out if there's bribery snowdrops. We shut our trading hut in December. Especially as our weather is like yours only colder.
-
Thick frost, started raining about 11am but never changed from rain to anything else.
-
1c here today, lots of snowfall, and plenty more up there. Also freezing foggy mist. and very slippery underfoot. -5c tonight !!!!! This is the south of England !!!!!
-
Still waterlogged, now more than 8 inches of rain in the past month, with more on the way. It's 11 C, lead-gray sky, and still raining.
-
It started to snow here mid-afternoon, it is has managed a inch or so coating, but it seems to be melting as fast as it is settling - cos it is no deeper yet than it was earlier IYKWIM?
I suppose that may change as it gets colder overnight, cos it is supposed to go down to -3 or -4C Brrrrr
-
I just popped outside - bright moon, bright stars and twinkling ice on the ground, patio table etc. About -3ºC and falling. It's really magical on nights like this. From the front we look across the Menai and at night the lights of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch look as if they're floating in the sky (Cue the five tones)

What rhymes with that? ;)
-
And it shook me to my bones.
Quite white but not thick out there. Still, blue sky, - 4ºC at 9am
-
at night the lights of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch look as if they're floating in the sky
I think one of the happiest memories of school-times, was when the Welsh biology mistress taught the class how to say that on the last day of term. You can imagine the gobledygook when we each tried to say it aloud
Here it's white outside  and -3C, more snow falling but it's that powdery wet stuff, that usually just fades away.
-
Feels cold again today as the wind is back and it's -1c. We had a good covering of snow yesterday lunchtime but there's been nothing since. It's cloudy and the sky is the right colour for more although none is forecast.
-
Cold and icy. We had some snow late yesterday afternoon followed by rain and it froze overnight. No intention of going out today. Watched neighbours car pirouette in the road as he left for work.
-
Had an (unforecast) couple of inches of snow yesterday morning, which then partially melted before freezing again - misty now and very cold (was only -4C at 0900, now -3C )
According to the forecasts the temperature is unlikely to get above zero, day or night, for the rest of the week. :(
-
The weatherman has just caught up with the fog we've had all day (sunny Sir, not yere).
-
More cold misty/fog low cloud, not got light all day
-
Still cold, -2c but feels lower with a covering of low grey cloud still. It struggled most of yesterday to get above freezing with the clouds and general gloom making it a pretty miserable day compared the bright and crisp days we had been having.
-
-6 an hour ago. Clear skies. Going to be a warm day in the artic of Northumberland. :) But apparently unlikely to snow unless you are up on the Cheviot.
-
We still have laying snow, where nobody has been walking, the sky is grey and we just had a shower of that powdery snow and that's still blowing about a bit.
It is -1C which feels like -3C according to MetO.
Oh well it's powdered milk today, then, cos I'm not going out just for the fresh stuff
-
Very cold night here - still about -2ºC. Frost & ice rather than snow. Breaking the chickens' water took a shivery while.
-
Still -5C and -8C overnight. And that was in my greenhouse
-
bitterly cold here in the midlands some snow still laying on the ground waiting for some more to arrive but someone said it was going to get a little warmer next week ?
-

It should be warming up by Saturday .. which means it will rain :D
-
The snow was tumbling down through the sky, Stared out through the Chinese restaurant window as we tucked into our set meal for two in Chinatown London. My 73 holiday treat. Back home, layer of snow as I topped up the bird feeders. Cheers, Tony.
Cheers, Tony.
-
It is cold here, don't know exact temperature. No snow but we are protected by being surrounded by the sea. Odd rain shower but just heavy frosts.
-
Very cold, and still -4c . Most of the snow has gone but the pavements are main frozen ice and very slippy. It's clouded over at the moment, but looks to be brightening up so it may be back to cold, crisp and bright.
-
A very cold night - kept the woodburner going on low overnight with some hefty logs. Rest of the house got pretty chilly and getting out from under the warm duvet to cross to the cold bathroom took willpower in the night!
The chickens' water bowl was solid ice and had to come in to defrost this morning. It's now sunny out there and just above freezing. Little breath of wind.
-
It's 'supposed' to be 2C here, but there's no sign of the garden snow melting yet, as It's still crunchy underfoot.
Paths are dry and crusty as well.
The sun has just this minute, come out so that should warm things up a bit, fingers crossed. ;)
-
the forcast here shows nothing above 0 for a few days to come. The wind is bitter today N veering NNE and I have to go out in 60 mins time.
The squirrels nuts have frozen
-
The squirrels nuts have frozen
I bet they have, perhaps he needs some thermals, to keep them warm :D
It's sunny, but -6C this morning, ffff freezing out there, and not that warm indoors, despite the c/h!
Snow still laying on garden path, lawn and any roofs that don't get the sun on them.
-
A very cold -4c , my heating came on overnight which means it must have dropped to +5c in the hallway.
Bright and sunny this morning, very cold out there and the pavements are like glass. I very nearly ended up flat on my back twice walking the dog. It's looking like there are only a few days of this left and we'll be back up to +10c with rain on Sunday.
-
Clear skies, calm and at 10am was -7C in my greenhouse
-
-7.5 in the tunnel overnight, chickens water was frozen solid this morning & I had a divil of a job to get it going even with a flask of Luke warm water to help.
Very bright & sunny out there but I’m staying put inside with our little grandson as it’s just too cold for him
-
Current 14°C and stopped raining, partly sunny.
Georgia, I'm told, has a subtropical climate. I'll remember that during the sleet/ice storm forecast for a week from now, and the -8°C to 0°C range forecast for the Friday before Christmas.
My sympathies to you and the chickens Snowdrops (and others!).
-
A clear and very crisp -7c this morning, there's also a bit of a breeze which makes it really cutting out there. I was planning on picking up some bits from town today but now I think not.
-
Looks lovely out there with the sun shining on the icy roofs the pavements are all white, bitterly cold out there :)
-
A clear and very crisp -7c this morning, there's also a bit of a breeze which makes it really cutting out there.
Same here Brrr! Mollycat stepped out, turned straight back inside and started sneezing :(
-
Blue skies with wispy white clouds - very pretty morning. The night was cold, broke the ice on the chickens' water but not as bad as previous when it was a solid block.
Now (11am) it's just popped above freezing. Warming up tomorrow.. so it's going to rain :(
-
very very cold and frosty here the fish pond almost frozen over just two little holes where the water was coming out of the pumps don't like this cold spell at all >:(
-
Grey, -5C and breezy.
The sky looks like rain, wonder if it will fall as rain or snow first?
-
Had to do an emergency run at 6am to son-in-law who'd written off the motor on black ice. (He's OK apart from some bruises) He'd braked gently as there was a car sideways across the road and that was it, ballet pirouettes in a car.
The police attended as they closed the road because it was so dangerous and helped the drivers clear the road. The crashed motors were 50 yards from the work car park :(
It was +4ºC here and raining but the ice under the water made getting to the car tricky. As we drove down the Llyn the temperatures dropped to just 2ºC so I was driving at 30mph on open roads.
As we picked him up the gritting lorry came past....
Back home it's up to a balmy 5ºC now.
-
Frustrating - but as long as everyone is okay that the main thing.
It's 0c here and after recent days, feels, as you rightly put it balmy. There's still a covering of ice and snow and it's mainly grey clouds so we may also get some rain later. I wanted to patch the ripped felt in the extension before the rain started again , the gorilla patch and seal tape I bought was utter garbage and has fallen off already.
-
Very cold here still, don’t think it’s snow but heavy frost & ice everywhere, minus 8.5 in the tunnel overnight, seemed to have finally got the padlocks insulated enough to to be able to unlock them without spending 5 minutes breathing on them to access the shed & chicken run.
-
I’m glad your son-in-law is ok John and hope his insurance sort him out quickly.
Another very cold night here with thick ice in the pond and heavy frost still on the roofs and gardens.
It is gradually inching up in temperature and feels better than it has in previous days, but not much better.
-
I’m glad your son-in-law is ok John and hope his insurance sort him out quickly.
S-i-L is OK but very cheesed off. The car was fully serviced, MOT, new tyres yesterday and he filled the tank. It looks like a write off so much arguing over values and looking for a replacement.
-

Such a hassle waiting for insurance etc. Just glad he is ok, thats the main thing. Mrs B
-
Glad your SIL is OK John.
It's terrible to be in a car accident, as often there is literally nothing you can do. Icy roads conflicting with the need to get into work, it's understandable, and nothing he could do. Sadly, the laws of physics sometimes take over in such icy conditions.
-
We made it all the way to +4C yesterday, a good deal of the snow melted although the compacted snow/ice on the pavements is still there. I've not seen any gritters out but the roads have remained surprisingly clear so far.
It's back down to -1C now and currently snowing but the forecast is for it to warm up and turn to rain during the day.
-
Rain, wind gusting to 50mph, about +4ºC.
Not very nice out there! :(
After yesterday's car crash, son in law dreamed he did 3 rounds with Ali in the boxing ring. Woke up to find it was true. He's moving very slowly.
-
Pouring, freezing rain. They are trying to tell me it is a few degrees warm, but the lights are on and I do not feel warm.
-
Rain, rain and more rain here also. Our gutters started to overflow at one point so when it warms up we'll have to get up and make sure they're not blocked.
-
+12c at the moment, dark , grey and raining. The wind has also picked up considerably and it's very unpleasant out there.
-
It's a lot warmer at 10ºC.. but
Very strong winds hitting well above 50mph, raining from a very dark sky. Not nice at all.
-

Same here! At last the snow has gone, and although the thermostat shows it is warmer, it doesn't really feel much like it because of the wind ::)
-
The wind has dropped and we had some rain overnight, so everything is grey and damp - yet it's now 12C ;)
Only need 1 jumper on and even Mollycat went out for her usual morning garden boundary check
-
Soggy, grey and it's gone cold again at 6c, I'm back to 3 layers.
-
It's about 7ºC here - quite bright with mainly blue skies, light cloud and a bit of a breeze. The sudden change from really cold to relatively warm and humid air means everything in the big shed is very damp as the water condenses out.
-
quite a good day here sunny not cold basically a day for messing about outdoors doing those little jobs
-
4 C now, light rain all day, with continued rain for the next 2 days. Forecast for Friday morning is for light snow, less than an inch, followed by forecast low temperatures that keep getting colder (current predicted low -12 C).
-
It's grey, 7C damp and drizzly with heavier rain in the forecast for this afternoon.
-
It's grey, 7C damp and drizzly with heavier rain in the forecast for this afternoon.
Much the same - the damp and sogginess off it making things feel worse than they are.

DITTO :)
-
It is soggy and grey, but hey ho, its winter
-
Dry, but very overcast and dismal. I keep looking out the window at things that need doing but they aren't going to get done.
-
Cool again a +5c, grey, dark and constant drizzle. Seriously considering going back to bed.
-
Cool again a +5c, grey, dark and constant drizzle.
Similar here, what I call wet fog - no actual rain, but everything in the fog gets saturated. Nasty stuff :(
-
Warm at 10ºC, on off drizzle, quite still and foggy. Not the best of days.
-
It is really grey and drizzly here. Not at all nice or Christmassy for that matter :tongue2:
-
It's forecast to be frigid here in subtropical Georgia ;) this morning. By 9:00 AM, it will be 6 degrees F, that is -14.4 C :nowink: :( , and winds forecast 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts to 40 mph   possible. It is not that cold and windy yet though, it is 8 C at 1:00 AM., with a 6 mile an hour wind.
See my diary post re: trying to keep vegetables in the raised beds alive.
-
Stay safe Subp & family, storm Elliot looks horrendous - fingers crossed for you all.
and here am I moaning about our weather
It's 9C, persisting down and overflowing the gutters, again! So, of course the footpath is flooded...
-
Sounds foul SP. Hope you at least have your heating / hot water sorted now.
We have a repeat of yesterday +6c, grey, very dark, dank but the drizzle has now also turned to rain. Another day for finding this to sort in the house.
-
Rather cold at times, dark & rainy all day.
-
Greetings from subtropical Georgia.
The cold was not as bad last night as forecast, but did drop from 9 C to -7 C in 6 hours. The wind are not as bad now; at their worst, 20 mph with gusts to 46 mph at the airport a mile from here. RIght now, it's -4 C and sunny with a brisk wind out of the west.
At daybreak, I had to make some adjustments to the covers over the raised beds. I will check again before sunset, as tonight's forecast still calls for -13 C. I'm not removing those covers until at least Tuesday after Christmas.
The weather got into our cable connection hardware, but a service call has fixed that.
A week after Christmas? 19 C with a few showers are forecast on New Years Day.
-
I'm not removing those covers until at least Tuesday after Christmas.
I'm beginning to feel the same way about my duvet.
+5c this morning, it's stopped raining but everything is absolutely sodden. There's a brisk breeze making it feel cooler than it is and with the cloud cover it's still dark and dank.
-
Still grey and damp, here, but much brighter than yesterday and 7C, so far.
-
Greetings from beautiful subtropical Georgia, and Athens, in the Georgia Piedmont.
It is a brisk 7 degrees here at 7:15 this morning. That is 7 Fahrenheit (old money), which is how we roll here, but -14 C to the rest of the world. Can't tell you it's sunny (because it's still pitch dark), but I can report that it is clear. The temperature is probably a record low for the date (film at eleven).
We are not the coldest spot in Georgia right now. That honor (?) goes to a small weather station on the east side of Sassafras Mountain in Pickens County, Georgia. It is -4 F there right now (that's -20 C).
I looked it up, the record cold for December 24 is 3 F, so today's cold is not a local record.
-
Thing is a lot of the infrastructure in the more southern states won't be built to handle this - costs must be astronomical.
I've experienced -30ºC in Norway but my pal's triple glazed, super-insulated lodge was cosy warm.

We truly do not build for the cold here, at least not like Norway or Minnesota. Our house is 50 years old and reasonably well-built. But many less well-built structures are likely having problems today. The modern office that I worked in until about 2015, here in town, once had frozen pipes at temperatures not nearly as bad as what we experienced last night; they are likely going to have a mess on their hands next week.
-
Our first year here was a very hard winter. We hit -15ºC at one point. There was about an inch of insulation in the loft and so heat departed as fast as it was pumped in. We had gas heating on 24hrs, additional electric heaters, electric blankets, extra duvets and the multi-fuel going 24 hours.
Some photos from December 2010
-
Heavy rain overnight and still a lot of standing water on the roads. +8c so very mild but looks like it's going to be another damp grey day.
-
Damp start, bluish sky, bit of breeze and 6ºC - bit nondescript.
-

Much the same here, but at least family should be able to get here. Nothing worse than having all the extra food and nobody to eat it ::)
-
Grey and damp on the South Coast. Blissful walk on the beach with the dog, had the place to ourselves.
Son and daughter in law's for lunch. Will cook turkey crown tomorrow to ensure a supply of cold turkey sandwiches.
-
Its a lovely, sunny, 7C this morning, Mollycat also liked the look of it and dashed off and away as soon as the door was opened.
A greenhouse potter looks on the cards for later ;)
-
We have a bit of sunshine this morning which is nice. The clear skies have not improved the temperature though and it's +1c.
-
A rather chilly start but lovely to see some sunshine, only forecast for today though sadly. Was windy overnight & blew over & broke my latest make for Christmas .
-
Started out a bit dowly then had a bit of sun but now it's dowly again with bits of rain.
-
Sunny today.
-
A greenhouse potter looks on the cards for later
thats what i've been doing this morning it was lovely and warm in there :)
just had our walk down to the beach that was nice :)
-
Lovely and clear today in Hertfordshire - got out for a short walk with Mum before lunch and the damp set in. :)
-
+4c Soggy and grey. We're forecast some pretty unpleasant wind/rain later today too. Is 9am too early to start putting brandy in my coffee?
-

I don't think so, if it is going to be one of those days ::) It only gets serious when every day is one of those days :(
-
+4c Soggy and grey. We're forecast some pretty unpleasant wind/rain later today too. Is 9am too early to start putting brandy in my coffee?
Pretty similar here except the unpleasant weather has hit already. When we were in Spain I sometimes started the day with a Carajillo :) Happy thought of hot sunshine starts with a little buzz.
-
North Wiltshire - Overcast wet and cold. :(
Cheers, Tony
-
We've got the heavy rain and gusty wind as forecast. They've put out a storm warning for the Island and other parts of the south coast over the weekend.
-
Generally miserable. +8c so mild but it's been constant drizzle or rain since yesterday morning. It's dark, it's grey and it's windy, definitely not an outdoors day.
-
A grey windy day, gusts of up to 35mph, so far, and heavy rain, on & off - 8C :(
So pretty much the same as you Lardman ::)
-
Very wet and windy here too :(
Temperature's not too bad at 9ºC for the time of year.
-

Well it is very unpleasant here. Cold, grey, windy and wet rain.
-
And we've still got the wind and rain. Paul's supposed to have some time off until after the New Year but because the kitchen ceiling tends to leak in heavy rain (flat roof) he wants to go in and see what it's like.
-
What a disgusting day wind and rain i haven't set foot outside :)
-
Still a bitter wind making the +6c feel a lot less. The rain and drizzle have at least stopped for now although it's very dark and grey out there.
-
Lots of rain overnight, but now it is sunny and 9C - the wind has also calmed down to a gentle breeze, for now!
-
Grey, windy and cold but not raining, so one positive in there!
-
I think I'll just repeat what John said. Dry, breezy and overcast.
-
... and we're back to drizzle. Still mild +6c but there's still a decent breeze and the drizzle is back. YADD ( Yet Another Duvet Day )
-
Dark, 8C pouring rain, wind gusting 30mph ::)
-
More rain, wind, dark & dismal, I’d curl up by the fire if we had one.
-
The weather has gone from frigid to warmer than usual in one week. This morning before daybreak it is 8°C and overcast, temperature is expected to rise to 17°C this afternoon. High on Monday (January 2) is expected to be 22°C, partly cloudy! :tongue2:
Continental climate, never a dull moment.
-
High on Monday (January 2) is expected to be 22°C, partly cloudy! :tongue2:
That's just silly !

The unpredictability really makes gardening hard to carry out for some crops that prefer (or demand) consistency. My experiment with broad beans is an example of what can go wrong with this weather. We can go from too cold to be optimal to too warm in a week or two. A few years ago we had a late freeze that killed every leaf on neighborhood maple trees. They bounced back fortunately. Also, I have seen daytime highs in October top out at 38 C!
-
Another disgusting day :)
-
Wet on and off but still windy. Not that cold but I don't know the actual temperature.
-
Very breezy and wet today. The rain is not that heavy, but the fact it is being blown every which way makes it feel worse.
-
The unpredictability really makes gardening hard to carry out for some crops that prefer (or demand) consistency.
Never mind the crops - I think I'd have problems adjusting the fluctuations. Considering the pictures we've been getting of the weather over there I'm guessing you're not complaining.
Today is much the same as yesterday, grey, damp dark, still cold breeze and a mild 11c. YADD.
-

Same here, 12C so at least the wind is warm...
-
Dark, damp and dowly.
-
Nasty. Very wet, and very windy. HNY !
-
Another disgusting day wind and rain nearly all day >:(
-
I'm bored of this wet and windy weather, mind you I don't want snow, but something else would be nice.
