British Garlic
« on: January 15, 2012, 15:43 »
Hi All!  I know I am late, but I planted my Purple Wight and Solent Wight garlic today.  The purple ones were already starting to sprout from the cloves.  I think they mature before the other British garlic.  So excited!  There's just something wonderful about planting something in the middle of winter!   :)
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

They should be fine, even planted now. :) Hopefully they'll have some frost which will do them good too.

We had frost last night, and it is predicted again for tonight.  We are coastal like you.  Within a few miles of the North Sea.

I was late this year - only planted mine last week - but not as late as last year when they didn't make it until March.

Still had an excellent crop, so you should be fine.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

For me, it is one of the most exciting things to see sprout up from the ground. I love the rows and rows of green at the moment, teasing me with the promise of what is hopefully to come!

Ditto shallots (although the shallots I planted late last year havent shown any signs of life yet)
