potatoes out - what can go in now?
« on: July 25, 2009, 09:34 »
digging up the spuds this weekend so wondered what to do with the ground

is there anything edible that i can plant now? (not brassicas as they are in another part of the plot and will muck up me rotation plans)

or should i go the green manure route - if so - which one?
thanks
just keep breathing................

How about a nice thick bed of carrots in that loose soil?  :)

Or leeks, if you can get some suitably sized seedlings.

I have same issue - but thought I'd put in some broad beans - the pack of Sutton says ok to sow up to July so a started them off about 10 days ago.  Am I being silly?  They were so nice in the early crop that I just wanted more.
I put some left over runner bean plants into teh first row of potatoes.
trying to be green except when blue
