Cherry tomatoes
« on: May 03, 2010, 12:52 »
I have some cherry tomatoes thriving in my tunnel. Please could someone tell me if I need to remove the side shoots.

I had assumed they were a bush variety but now I'm not sure. Thanks

Difficult to know without a name but if they seem tallish but with side shoots take them off, if they are more sort of mounds they could be bushes. Not much help I suppose.

leave them alone until you see a flower truss. If at this stage the main stem carries on growing, then it is not a bush and you can remove all the side stalks.

If the main stalk stops growing with a flower truss then it is a bush.

It's easier if you know the variety though :nowink:
