Hi I got these seeds in the sale huge packets. I have about 9 growing in pots about half the size of the florist buckets. They seem to be growing huge I had thought they might be ok in these pots being cherry but they are getting huge' I am wondering if they are going to get to big. I am thinking about putting them in the ground with a plastic covering over. Any Advice 're size and spread. Thanks

Remeber Monty Don's thing about tomatoes in limited space? I don't think tomatoes mind having limited space providing you keep them watered. They don't like being too dry. An advantage of putting them in the ground is that they've go a much bigger source of water and so don't dry out as much.

I think these are bush tomatoes, rather than cordon. If you have space to grow them in the ground they will probably be easier to manage and keep evenly watered.
On the plus side, they are supposed to crop very heavily :D

Wot she said :D - plus you'll need some canes and string around to support them, or the weight of the fruit makes them bend over ;)

My cherry tomatoes plants always end up bigger than any of my other indeterminent tomatoes. You'll get a bigger crop if you put them in the ground. I never have much luck keeping them corralled, they're just monsters lol.
